Cool idea! The art and sound design are great! Game is fun and has an interesting concept.
Awesome game, congrats to the developers! :)
Thanks a lot! We are glad you enjoyed the experience :)
Cool game! On my first run, I need to reload since I just realised that I missed the first room that I need to remember. Maybe better if it's mentioned somewhere on the first screen?
Other than that, I really like the art, music and gameplay. Good job!
Thanks a lot! I have to admit that is a fair point. Making the instructions clear is one of the most important things to do when making a game, so it will definitely be worked on!
Chill game, but hard! couldn't pass the 8levels :c Great job !
8 is pretty good! i usually don't make it past 7. thanks for the compliment!
great take on the theme. the gameplay is very akin to "spot the difference" games, which isn't a bad thing. the rules could have been explained better, it took me a while to realize where the original room actually was. once i understood it it got fun, trying to match up what was missing in each level. the art is nice and it lends itself well to this type of game. the music is also pretty relaxing and i thought it fit in really well for the game. the game does suffer from a bit of tedium, as once you memorize the room the game becomes very simple. maybe for a post-jam version you could add random rooms to spice up each run-through of the game.
thank you for the compliments!!!
yeah, i think we realized a bit too late that you sort of have to put the directions directly in the path of the player because most games explain what you do with like a tutorial, so you naturally come to expect it.
good idea with the tedium and repetition . i definitely really like the idea of the ideas randomizing in location around the room, or having a few different predetermined layouts.
Really great entry. 2 things I would change for the future. 1 if player don' t read description, it can be confusing at first sight. Would be cool to have some screen with something like "take a good look at the room ". And 2nd , would be great to have some ending. Even simple "you made it congrats" could make some good satisfaction moment. But both of mentioned thing are nothing serious and your game works great as is! Me and my wife had a blast playing it and trying to beat highest possible level. As I mentioned in comment section, we made it to lvl 14. I would recommend to anyone to try it as the take on theme is very original and the atmosphere of this entry is very pleasing. Great job done!!
thank youuuuuuu : D
good point with having a basic tutorial. i think if you're around the game too much, you forget that the initial experience of the game can be confusing with out a built in explanation. also with the feeling of completion, its definitely a good idea to have an ending or 'high score' as well.
thank you for your kind words! really enjoyed your entry as well!!
You are absolutely right about the description! I can relate to not wanting to read an essay of a game explanation, but that's just how it is sometime, though I'll do my best to make an intuitive tutorial the players will be able to go through! Regarding the ending, that would be tricky game designwise, but would certainly be satisfying, so it's worth considering!
Thank you and thanks to your wife for enjoying out little game :D
Really nice presentation. I love the way the music pans with the UI as well as the way the UI nods and shakes when you are right or wrong. I think the game could have been explained in a couple of sentences instead of the wall of text you currently have. In the text you mention having a screenshot of the original room side-by-side, however it would have been nice if that could have been included in the game.
thank you!! steve did a really good job with the ui and the animations.
good thinking with the wall of text in the help bit, it definitely is a little intimidating. heard from a few other people as well that they would have liked to have screenshots included somewhere in the gameplay loop, so that would probably be a really useful future feature to implement.
thank you for playing and commenting!!!
This was a great relaxing game :D Had a great time with it , the gameplay is very adicting! But the best thing for sure are the visuals, the artwork is amazing! Anyways, great job guys :)
thank you so much!!
Thanks for the kind words, your game is also amazing!
Love the art style, it is a really funny game, great job!
thanks a million :D
Thanks a billion :D
Great work! This game definitely pulls you in. The sound and aesthetic are very calming.
Thanks a lot! All props to bobosupreme, he was the music guy!
thank you! all props to steve, he was the visuals guy!
Haha you both did great!
Really relaxing atmosphere, i took a while to get it how to play but i finally understood! haha. And sorry i robbed i had print screen :p
Thank you! I'm glad you finally got it in the end! And it's not problem at all!
Really nice theme expression. I liked your graphic style and music as well. Wish it was a bit easier. I spent a couple of iterations in order to understand what changes on the first step. And the color changes aren't really noticeable enough. I think gameplay can be more interactive.
However, it's a pretty good and solid project! Well done!
I really appreciate the constructive criticism! Indeed at least adding an easy mode would be a good move since the game has such a chill/lo-fi vibe that gets a bit ruined by the difficutly, I can imagine it being like playing dark souls with animal crossing music for some people...
I really enjoyed the artstyle and music. Also, the game idea is pretty interesting. Good job! You can feel free to check out my game, any kind of feedback will be very appreciated!
I really love the graphics and the music is super relaxing. It's funny because I want to smash my computer when I run out of time (I have been playing for an hour, it is very amazing and addicting), but that music just really keeps me from doing so....so thank you. The only critique I have is for it to be less good because I really need to go to sleep and this great game is keeping me from doing so. 100/10.
Thank you very much for the kind words! I have to admit myself that bobo's music made me procrastinate while developing the game, I think I wasted about 20 minutes just playing the unfinished game with the music on...
When I first started the game, I failed immediately and thought, this is too hard! But then I found myself wanting to continue to play. I could see myself getting really into this, eventually I'm sure I could memorize the room and totally ace it! I like the colors and isometric style a lot. A nice, simple game with replayability!
I'm really glad you didn't give up, as well as that you found it satisfying memorizing the room items! Oh and one thing I forgot to add to the game's description is the maker of the palette used, thanks for the reminder!
I really chill game, hard and simple but still funny.
The art is going really well with music I love it.
Quite a nice game, and you can replay it as much as you want, I love that, even if I suck to find differences ahahah... TT_TT
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! Please don't be discouraged if you find the game hard, most people do and that is my fault as the games designer!
Terrific game, and a great take on the theme! The art is lovely and the basic game idea is super fun as well. The tip to play the first few levels with a screenshot on hand was a neat idea, too, I would've gotten really discouraged without that. The music and sound design were cool, and the "transition effect" and presentation were excellent. (Although it was a bit uncomfortable to read the help text ingame, not sure why.)
As others have said, I, too, would've been really happy to have the game tell me what I got wrong, but it's no big deal.
Also, the folder name in the downloadable version ("ForFuckSakeIWannaSleep_windows") is super relatable ;)
Overall, an excellent take on the theme. The player gets to know a single room by heart in order to "git gud" at the game.
I am very glad you liked the game, the art and music! The reason I put the tip in the description is because it was too late when I realized that the game will be too hard and that I can't make it easier without the room being emptier.
Being able to show the items that have changed is something I wish I could've added as well, but I just scrapped it and focused on other things.
Ok so regarding the file name, that was like my 5th export for the night (or should I say morning, I stayed up until 5 am just to make sure everything is fine) and I completely forgot that people will download the windows build because of the html sfx bug, and that when they do they have to run that .exe file.... Oh well, at least it will make someone giggle hopefully.
Overall, thanks for the feedback and the kind words!
I love the art and the sound! So chill and easy on the eyes. I just wish that you show the player the original room first for a split second before showing the level. It was really hard for me to remember everything and guess XD
thank you for the compliments! steve has super good taste with visuals.
definitely a good idea regarding adding something to make it a bit easier for players to remember the original room, or at least show where they went wrong. a few other people mentioned similar struggles.
thanks for the kind words and feedback!
That is actually a really nice idea worth considering, will try it out if the game gets worked on some more! Thank you for the critiques and the feedback, as well as the compliments!!!
No problem good luck with future development!
Woof, that's hard. Love the art and the music. Wish the game would show what the right answer was on a failure; would've made it a little easier to start keying in on some of the subtler changes.
thanks for the compliment and critique! definitely would have been a helpful feature to throw in.
Yeah bobo did suggest that, but I thought it wouldn't fit in there well enough, guess I should've tried, but if the game gets worked on more post jam I will see how I can show the room after you lose! Also thanks for the kind words!
how to vote?
votes are broken at the moment; it's an itch issue
keep an eye on the jam discord for now
The voting is now fixed!
Clever idea and 10/10 artwork! Well done.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the compliment!
