The game looks nice, and sounds very nice, but the controls are very hard to intuit, which is important when there are tightly-timed sections... The grapple-jump, especially, feels unnecessarily difficult to pull off, requiring the player to be on the ground (so with a free jump) to grapple and then press space afterwards but not before, but also within a very tight (but occasionally, weirdly, very loose?) window of time. Rather, I think executing jumping and grappling "simultaneously", jumping either before or after grappling within a certain accessible timeframe, would make the grapple-jump ability feel better. (Also needing an un-used jump in order to do it makes it difficult to chain with other movement capabilities)

What I'm trying to say is the game looks nice, but the controls were uniquely frustrating to me in particular.

Pretty hard (and at some points even a bit unfair designed), but overall I like it. The backgrounds are great, the music is engaging and the story makes it interesting and feels like a reward for the effort you've put in getting up there.

Tried this out after seeing the little "speedrun" on the discord. Absolutely beautiful art and probably one of the more challenging games I've played during this jam! Great music and really could tell a lot of care was put into everything.  Nice work!

This game is good because its hard which a rage climber is supposed to be and thats why I hate it :D

Seriously though, well executed, great graphics. I just gave up at some point.

Such a great job!

Great submission, love a good challenge. It felt good to control once I got used to the mechanic. And as a newbie composer, the music really fit well.

I like the visuals and musics, but the controls are hard to get used to. I struggled from the beginning and baraely got few grapples up. I think the game would be better overall if instead of mouse you'd have some kind of "smart grapple" key that would latch onto the most likely grappling point.

I second this idea, seems like a good compromise :)

Fantastic job! A bit too hard for me lol. The grapling hitbox could be bigger, feels like it is just the middle black part...

Solid submission, good job :)

The graphics are really-really beautiful. Like a playable 64x64 landscape painting.

The audio is good, tho the music style was not fully my cup of tea - objectively its great.

The grappling hook feels really great but the difficulty is skyrocketing right from the start so I didn't advance much before giving it up :D

This game has some of the best graphics and music I have seen in the entire jam. You are really, really talented! The power jump mechanic took me a bit of time to understand (basically you can only use it if you have *not* jumped to grapple) but after that it was really a fun challenge to go through this game. I loved the colors / animations / particle effect, everything felt so polished!

The overall gameplay was very challenging, and of course came with its own frustation similar to "Getting Over It". Part of this I think could be improved a bit by providing more leniency towards edges. I found myself punished way too many times for approaching an edge too fast, or getting to close, and I felt like I was falling through the ground. (see GIF below)

Compare that with Mario (which is already known for being quite difficult) who is perfectly stable here:

This I think would allow for a more predictable gameplay without compromising on the fun aspect. Anyways, something to try out :)

I couldn’t quite get a hang of the controls, but that might be on me. The visuals look soooooo clean and cute. Love the look of it all. Great vibe, nice work!

Edit: I practiced a bit more and got a bit further, nice little game!

Thank you so much, glad you are enjoying it!

It took a little bit to get used to the controls, but in the end I got the hold of them up to the part where I had to do the power jump to clear the big gap! I was able to pull the super jump but it still wasn't enough; it was a bit too tricky to aim to the grappling points while the screen was scrolling vertically, but I guess that is part of the challenge, lovely graphics and music. Hope to get more skilled!

It looks so cool! But I couldn’t get the hack of grappling, ended up stuck at only the third hook.
