The mood is set spot on in this one! I usually dont play text based games but this one was fun, congrats!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Really amazing text based adventure, probably the best one I've seen so far

Kind of reminds me of the terminals in fallout, but could use some sound feedback from actions

Developer

Thank you! More work on the audio would have been great, would have loved to add more context specific sfx and a greater variety with the loading sound

by far the best text based game on this jam! Good Job.

Developer

Thanks so much! Means a lot :)

Wow, this game made me remember my love for text based adventure games. All the characters having their unique roles and the way the limitation was included was absolutely great. And the way it makes you develope a strategy throughout it,  just *chefs kiss.* I unfortunately got to my last 50 ft when I died, but I'm definitely gonna try again and again because this game is super fun.

Developer

Cheers! Good luck on your next run :)

This is one of my favorites regarding creativity and mood. It made me think and had a lot of atmosphere, especially considering it was all text.

At first, I was evading all the time with the pilot, then I realized: oh god, I have to advance! So that led me to take more hits and let the engineer repair so that we could push through. The decision-making in this game is pretty well designed.

(Also, I'm sorry Zealot, you'll be remembered)

Developer

Thanks so much! Very happy that it feels well balanced with decisions, trying to get the tradeoffs between different abilities to feel right was a big part of the design process

RIP Zealot you were a good egg

Oh wow, I hope people give this game the time it deserves. It's ATMOSPHERIC. I'm not gonna lie, I don't usually have high hopes for text-only games, but this one was immersive and the decisions you have to make are super interesting.

Even though it's just text, it's aesthetically very well designed. I feel like I'm deep underwater and surrounded by Lovecraftian unseeable, unknowable horrors, but can only hear about them through this teleprompt lighter. The progression and writing is awesome.

I'm still not totally clear how I'm supposed to use the Zealot, so he got the chair a lot-- I probably missed something obvious.

Really nice work.

Developer

Thank you! It was so much fun to write the various encounters and abilities, could happily have spent a lot longer coming up with new ones :) really pleased the atmosphere comes across

The zealot allows you to ward off and prevent damage to the holiness stat, or grant a random stat boost at the start of your next turn. Still, I feel like out of all of the crew they probably enjoy the chair the most - I think they probably think suffering brings them closer to their god, so they were most likely appreciative :)

This is so cool. The text and atmosphere work so well together. I became really immersed. I love the different roles and characters. They all work so well together. Really good game!

Developer

Thanks so much! Glad you got into it and had a good time :)

This is one of my favorites so far. Simplistic enough to understand without struggle, but deeply engaging, and with great presentation/atmosphere to boot. I'm a big fan!

Developer

Thank you so much :)

Very original! It can definitely use some more 'video' game features, but it reminds of the old play-books from when I was a child. Good stuff! Authentic feel!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Old CYOA books were definitely a huge influence - might have to dig some out and replay :)

More video game features would have been great! I'd have loved to add some animated character portraits for a little more life and to add weight to the final choice if I'd had a little more time :)

Simple yet engaging game, I was never sure if I would make it. Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure I made it with my last turn, clearing the last 100m and warding off the -200m, but I still lost. Is this intentional?
Still great game and I enjoyed it.

Thanks for playing! Glad you had a good time!

Good catch on the issue - I've taken a look over the logic, and it's a simple issue with the order in which win/loss conditions are checked which I'll patch once the voting period for the jam is ended. Cheers for letting me know :)

That was FANTASTIC!

Fantastic mood, with the SFX and the screen itself. The retro text-adventure feel to it was very well done, and it served the experience well.

The text descriptions I feel also gave it that slight horror feel, where you can't see exactly what's happening but know it's not good.

And... what an ending.

I was not expecting it to hit me so hard.

Looks simple, but has some good thought and challenge put into it. Awesome entry!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Delighted you had a good time - sounds like the mood and tone I was aiming for really came through for you and I'm thrilled :)

I like a lot the style and the Lovecraftian back-story. I wonder if you could do something like this using cards, but anyway very interesting entry!

Developer

Thanks! I think it'd be a great fit as a card game, could be fun to adapt :)
