This is a really excellent game! I wasn't able to finish due to the length, and how brutal the save system was, but it was good enough I have the desire to see the rest of the game - if only to read your hilarious item descriptions. There is great humor in here.

As others have mentioned, it could have used some convenience features like a move forgiving save & jump system. The health bar mechanic took a bit to understand, but I think it's a really nice mechanic once you learn it. One possible suggestion I would have is to have health displayed as individual chunks per hit, instead of a bar. The bar made it unclear in the beginning how many hits you have left.

Beyond that, I think the scope of the game and world design you have here is well suited for a proper game release. If you were to remove the restrictions of the Nokia theme, and make a few updates that have already been mentioned, this could be a really nice VVVVVV style puzzle-platformer game. Great work!

Solid entry! Controls work well, dialogue screens look good. Only thing missing is sound effects :)
Super well done!

Really nicely polished - the humour is great and the graphics are really good. Fun to play as well.

I really enjoyed the humor and the closeup of the objects, the game kind of spazzed out when falling into certain rooms, but game overall felt solid also nice touch with the names of rooms like VVVVVV.

The idea of using your health bar this was is really interesting, and the game is really polished, especially considering the lenght. The movement could maybe be a bit faster and smoother, but considering it's more a puzzle game than a platformer I don't think that's really a problem. Good job!

Nice game! I got lost for a quite a while though... had an idea of where I needed to go at the time (the path to the second bean) but just couldn't re-find it forever! I thought some sort of indicator on the map as to where I had been would have been so helpful, however I see why you didn't when I finally got to the compass... pixels are in short supply in this jam! That aside, great art, great humour and great level design - a lot of thought must have gone into planning what sections reach what areas on dimensional flips! I also like the health reversal, neat concept. There was a definite increase in my science levels thanks to eating this game

Such a nice tiny metrodvania with an interesting twist on on/off theme! I'm really impressed how you managed to fit such an enjoyable game into restrictions. I'm gonna get back to collect all the 96 parts later :D

Nice work, some good humor in there. I'm impressed how many items you were able to add to the game, pretty sizable world to explore for a jam game. When the health switching clicked for me was a cool moment, clever idea!

Really great game! The writing was top tier, and I thought that the health also switching as you switched dimensions was a really unique idea that I don't think I've seen before. Woulda loved to have a little bit of audio to wrap everything up nicely together, but otherwise this game certainly doesn't lack content. Sweet stuff!

Very cool game and mechanic. I love how it is a simple platformer like mine! https://retrorealms.itch.io/nokia-pirate

I really enjoyed the switching mechanic in this game, especially knowing that the health switches back and forth. I did keep dying in the escapable pit after collecting the jump, but I intend to come back to see the rest of the game. Great work!

Love the health switching. Very good!

Interesting game, there is a lot to do and a good chunk of content. The small comments when obtaining objects is nice and the main switching mechanic is well done. Janitors are very underrated.

Thanks!  It was a lot of fun to make.

I really wanted to finish this but I ended up rage quitting haha, the save spots are really brutal and I powered through but then after progressing a lot between saves, I swapped worlds to fall into an inescapable pit. Brutal! I guess if that's what you were going for you succeeded haha but losing that much progress ruins the fun and an open world metroidvania doesn't need any more backtracking from losing progress.

As a game overall, I really like it though. The graphics work well, the level design is good and the inverted health mechanic is genius.  I may be back to finish it when I've calmed down haha

This had an amazing amount of content for a one week jam and the humor / story was super fun. Great job!

Edit: here's my playthrough if interested! (timestamps in description)

Thanks so much!  Really great to watch someone else play it!  I think the size of the game was possibly an error of judgement given the number of entries in this jam.

I loved how the level wasn't linear, the back and forth movement wasn't forced and I liked how you could see items that you couldn't obtain until later. Also, it was very clear, I'd never lose the character in the 2 colors palette and I could always see my lifebar. So, it was well polished. I with there was some sound, it would enhanse the experience even more! The dialogues were really cute, and I went "oooh" with the boss guy. Maybe I'd like the teleportation thingies and the traps to not look so similar. Cheers, great game!

Thanks for playing!  I did create some music for it, but decided it was too awful before I uploaded.
