Description
Lost in Space and Time, you find yourself adrift in an unfamiliar place. But this has happened before. For as long as you can remember you've been forced in and out of time and space, taken to different places and times. One day it'll be 16 century Italy and the other you'll be floating around the rings of Saturn.
As you traverse this random timetable of events you begin to disassociate with your own internal clock and begin to lose track of the days and places you've been.
The story is told in reverse from Eterno Vagabondo to Timeless Drifter (Intro)
*If you listen in standard order:* It is meant to depict the loneliness and dread of being trapped in time and space. As you (The Player/Listener) are traveling back in time both in game and story wise. Learning more about your past.
*If you listen in reverse order:* (Timeless Drifter (intro) to Eterno Vagabondo) you will experience the events in chronological order. From your first space/time travel experience to when you are at your lowest, drifting through space time.

Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
Throughout this project, I used multiple techniques to interpret the concept of my imaginary game. I used time signature changes, tempo variations, reversed audio, and delayed notes. At first, these may sound jarring to the listener, but I believe as the tracks continue forward (or backwards) it will help to immerse yourself in how the character feels throughout the game.

Eterno Vagabondo: Love this ambience and the back and forth panning. Cool reverse samples!
Looking Back Or Moving Forward: This is a very pretty track, kind of reminds me of Minecraft. Love the variety of instruments carrying and supporting the melody.
Oh, Where Did The Time Go: Great piano work. Sounds pretty but with a serious sounding atmosphere at the same time.
Timeless Drifter: Perfectly captures the drifting feeling. Great atmosphere.
Love the idea of being able to listen in two different directions, very creative. Great work!
very nice ambient soundtrack! you did a good job conveying feeling through minimal melodies or rhythms, and the concept of having different plots depending on if you listen backwards or forwards is really clever!! listening forwards, i got a sense of hope as it progressed, like the MC is making it back home from these time jumps, whereas listening backwards felt tragic, like there was no way out of the situation the MC was in.
really well composed :))
Accidentally lost my comment again... 😤
Geat job on the textures really! It's a real trip, very contemplative.
I tried both listening orders :
- Standard order felt kinda like what you've said the Eterno Vagabondo intro let me wondering/wandering while the Timeless Drifter felt heavy. As if I the trip had made me lost my soul 'sort of'.
- Listening backwards : Timeless drifter let me the same sensation of being lost, but while having a lot to discover, like an anxious excitation. Then finishing with Eterno Vagabondo let me.. not happy but Relaxed like 'in peace'. Like if I had accepted things around me..
This concept was very interesting! It gives ideas :D bravo :)
Ps : I'll guess you composed this in the backwards way right? Each tracks seem to flow into the next one naturally in that order.. Maybe I'm absolutely wrong 😅
thanks for taking a listen to both listen orders and for the kind words.
i did make the songs backwards, or rather in the current order, but with "Oh, where did the time go" being first.
Timeless Drifter was actually the last song i made. it was a scrapped version of a longer song that i didnt have time to finish. i ended up taking the original audio file for it and reversing it and added some effects, reverb and automation.
This one really sent me to another dimension with its ethereal beauty. I love how the order has a role and actually impacts the feelings. The concept described seems very interesting and the soundtrack fits amazingly, I think it could become a great game!
thanks papindra, glad the vibe came across :)
Eterno Vagabondo: The spacey vibe gives a lot of space for reflection. I like that it slowly builds throughout which makes me wonder is this the end or the beginning? Your idea of listening in reverse order is very creative! I really like the reverse sounds you use throughout.
Looking Back Or Moving Forward: The high synth/bell melody that repeats is very beautiful. The accompanying sounds you add in support the track and carry it forward (or backward?) so that the energy builds and does not fizzle.
Timestream: The sound effects you use create a technologic+spacey atmosphere. I love the pulsing bell, the shiny pads, and the warbly bass drone that sounds like it’s underwater. This is a very pretty loop.
Oh, Where Did the Time Go: This piano seems so sweet and the inclusion in such an intense-sounding atmosphere gives me the sense that this is representing a distant memory that was once sweet but has not become melancholy or maybe a little distorted in light of events that have since past.
Timeless Drifter: I really like the reverse bell sounds. The string pads feel very floaty and create a soft ambience that carries not many strong emotions, but rather conveys existence.
Overall: It was very creative to tell the story in reverse order to give a different effect and to mirror gameplay. The entire atmosphere you created is one of deep contemplation and the ambient vibes would be perfect for a story-rich game like the one you describe. Great work and thank you for sharing!
really appreciate the time you put into this in-depth feedback. it really means a lot to me. thank you. im really glad you liked all the reverse effects and the vibe of the overall OST. also very glad you were able to interpret so much of what i was thinking of while conceptualizing the OST (especially on Oh, Where Did The Time Go).
thanks again Blue Lava :)
Really nice ambient style soundscape!
thank you :)
I like how the music and the submission image go well together. Musically simple yet interesting enough to keep attention without overpowering the listener. So atmospheric and so light at once... Thank you for sharing, I like it! :)
thanks for checking it out!
Little bit too repitative in some parts, but very nice at all, good job!
almost as if you're trapped in a loop and cant escape >:)
but yeah i can understand that. my one regret was not having more melodic elements throughout the OST. thanks for checking out my project :)
It's as if the music was tailored to fit the cover image perfectly. To me, the panning could indicate the passing of time and no matter how hard we try to relive the past experiences (shown by the reversed instruments) the panning will continue without stopping. (That was unnecessarily deep probably.)
i love how you interpreted the panning and reverse effects. i was hoping someone would catch onto these subtle hidden meanings in the production. so cool that you caught onto it!
Great atmosphere, love how hopeful this is!
thanks Andrei, took a listen to your submission too.
WOW, its amazing! so creative and fun! great work !
This soundtrack had a different vibe from the other submissions I've listened to so far... it's so intimate, yet so ethereal. It's as if I was stuck between two alternate timelines, just watching from afar. Awesome ideas. This was spectacular!!
thanks man, really appreciate it. glad it struck a chord with you.
but let me tell you, it compares little to your submission. you really did an outstanding job. every track bring a different vibe but they are all so frickin good!! i went ahead and followed you soundcloud. cant wait to hear more from you
A really unique and interesting concept here. The music is beautiful, it's very easy to get lost in it. Though a lot of it doesn't have a driving melody, it doesn't really need it as the ambience helps the music carry the weight and emotion in every track. It is a powerful and well-composed soundtrack, and words elude me on how to describe it further. Excellent job!
tbh sometimes i get so carried away making each some have this ambience to it i forget to add a main melody haha. i appreciate the kind words albitrary.
your soundtrack was great and honestly such a vibe in itself. great work to you as well!
I love the extreme panning/sweeping throughout. I'm generally known as an "extreme panning" guy but I went a lot more understated for this jam, so I'm glad someone else was in there doing the ear-discombobulating work.
thanks for checking my project out! haha gotta make use of the entire audio spectrum >:)
Listening the songs in reverse order is a great idea, good job for coming up with that!
My favourite is definetly "Oh, Where Did The Time Go".
thanks! i really liked your project too. its blew me away!
It's so calming...
ty ty :))
I really like Timeless Drifter. It's ominous.
thank you. wish i had time to make that one longer
This is so peaceful and majestic, really great job on the atmosphere that builds up throughout the album. I really loved your pads and the very adequate use of reverses sample! I don't know what's about it but the little "whimpering" pad that plays the counter melody in "Looking Back or Moving Forward" in particular is absolutely gorgeous. Love the build up and the atmosphere on that track too. Great submission!
thank you for checking out my submission! means a lot. so glad you liked that little background melody in Looking Back or Moving Forward.
"It is meant to depict the loneliness and dread of being trapped in time and space." I felt this in a big way. Right at the start, Eterno Vagabondo made me feel anxious, I think in part because of the panning whooshes (might be too much fast panning, but ymmv). Dreadful! But all the tracks really evoked this. It reminds me of Icelandic artists like Múm and Sigur Rós. Good work nailing your goal. Thanks for making and sharing.
hey Zephyr, really appreciate you checking out my submission! im glad that i was able to get that feeling of loneliness and dread across. ill def have to check out those artists you mentioned
