Description
I went for an orchestral and electronic mix for this jam. made these songs for a story about a child who lost their mother, and learns to cope with this loss by escaping into a dream world where a figure resembling her mother resides. I composed these songs using FL Studio.

Message from the artist
I really wanted to make more but sadly I was only happy with the 2 songs I submitted :( Kinda went for quality over quantity for this submission. I hope you enjoy, this was a lot of fun!

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
When I see both the text and picture themes I instantly thought of very dreamy and spacey sounds. I imagined the child in the picture floating though her dream world and exploring it, so I started off with that idea in mind. Though something in me had a feeling of somberness to the theme and wanted to throw that in the mix so I really tried bringing that in with the piano and orchestral strings.

How I Miss You is such a beautiful piece, and i'm super impressed with the arrangement in The World I Made For Us. loved how you kept the momentum going with different buildups and ways to introduce tension!

VEry solid submission! It's  really beautiful how you wrote the piano you completely created a very complex ost that conveys the theme!

Thank you :))

For what its worth, the two songs you submitted are really solid! How I Miss You is really pretty. It sounded like it was a great intro that was going to build into the next piece, but the second part of it wasn't there. I'm assuming you had another song in mind to follow that up, but it didn't pan out. I wish I could have heard more!

You blended the orchestral and electronic elements really well in The World I Made for Us, and I liked the panning automation that you did with the drums! That was a nice little touch.

Developer

Hey thanks for commenting! How I Miss You was supposed to be a title screen song and was meant to be pretty bare bones, but I've come to the realization that making a separate song that builds on it would have been really awesome and I regret not thinking of that now haha

I was planning on making a lot more but due to my personal time constraints and my pickiness with ideas got in the way sadly.

I'm you enjoyed what I did make though, I appreciate you taking the time to listen!

Very nice piano work in "How I Miss You," would have loved to have seen that built up some more! "The World I Made For Us" has a really nice progression, the instrument choice, sound design and overall mixing feel very solid. There are a lot of instruments coming and going throughout the song that create a diverse overall sound. You did a great job keeping the listener interested, nothing ever becomes stale. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the great feedback! Come to think of it, I feel like I definitely should have made a full version of the title screen for another song, but unfortunately i did not have that idea before the deadline :/

I'm very happy you thought The World I Made For Us was a solid track in all the areas you said, I put a lot of time into fine tuning it! Thanks again for all the kind words :)

Very very nice submission! I loved the chords in the first track- it gave a really pretty and melancholic feel. The instruments/sounds you chose in the second track work really well together and help nail that dreamy vibe you were going for. Two tracks were all you needed to produce a quality soundtrack!

Btw on an unrelated note, after the second track finished SoundCloud auto-queued Giratina for me. That track goes hard just thought you should know.

Developer

HAHA omg thats so funny that it would auto queue that, I forgot I had it on soundcloud...

And thanks so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed everything and thought it all fit what I was going for, that's very relieving to hear :)

How I Miss You is a simple, sweet but sad sound...

The World I Made For Us - "This is my world... once made by my mom. Now he is completely mine. It's so beautiful here! Everything is bright, colorful and positive everywhere!

...I miss her so much."

Really bittersweet, beautiful music. I think you captured the atmosphere you were going for really well! For the title screen music, a touch of reverb or delay might help make it even more atmospheric. 'The World I Made For Us' is a really cool piece, I just wish there was more music to tell the story you came up with. Great work!

Developer

Hey there thanks for the feedback! I agree, it could have used  a bit of delay, that would have sounded really nice. I'm glad you enjoyed the second track!

I'm really sad I wasn't able to make more. It was a mix of less time from my job and not being satisfied with anything else I could come up with. I suppose there's always next time though!

Thanks again for your time to listen :)

The World I Made for Us was such an exciting piece for me, i especially liked how you created some funky rhythms with the strings! Sometimes going for quality over quantity is the right call, and it especially was here because this was a very nice entry. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! glad it was a good call haha, i appreciate you taking the time to listen :)

The continued Quest to Rate Submissions With Few Ratings to Hopefully Get Some In Return

Oh that dynamic build in the second song! Quite good how patient ysou are with it and how the oprchestral elements become dominant.

Pros on what you said in "Message from the artist": you did right, because the quality of work is... AMAZING!!
Cons: you got me waiting for more of your music! (oh wait, maybe that is a con too 😄)

I love the calming yet nostalgic vibes of How I Miss You.

And the lovely strings arrangement you made in The World I Made for Us complements the electronic part very well.

AWESOME WORK!!!

Developer

Thank you so much Layla! I'm really happy you thought my work was quality :) I put a lot of effort in! I'm glad you thought I was able to capture the nostalgia for first song. And thank you for the kind words about my string arrangements! I appreciate it a lot!

Really beautiful harmonies in the title track! I really like drums in The World I Made For US! Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much! Although the title track is short it took a bit to get it to my liking haha, I'm glad it was worth the effort

Gorgeous piano work on How I Miss You - really digging the less-is-more approach by letting the chords breathe so much. Great playing, nice use of articulation and the progression was great, too. Really nice track to kick things off and introduce the player to the game.

The World I Made For Us is a little bit of a departure from expectations but it goes so hard. Off the bat, kudos on the orchestration - nice use of various articulations and complementary melodies. Having it crescendo into the percussive elements was a really nice touch. Having a heartbeat to the track really does give it some nice structure. I like how the main synth-line starts to get louder and border on distorted, adding just enough grit with a couple of extra bespoke notes to really have it peak out of the mix a little. Super solid arranging in this one.

Great work, these were both a delight to listen to. Very different directions in both tracks but they both have a lot of redeeming qualities to them. Best of luck! :)

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! I kind of expected the second track to be a bit different from peoples expectations of the theme but I'm really glad you still enjoyed it. I appreciate all the nice words and good luck to you too :)

Nice choice of sounds. I really enjoyed a lot that mix of synths, strings and the drumbeat in "The World I Made For Us", it doesn't only sound great but also support that dreamy/spacey sound you described.  Nice and clean mix as well.  Very good work!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks so much! The drumbeat is actually one of the first ideas I had for the project besides the arp haha, I'm glad you saw the vision :)

Submitted(+1)

Minimalistic title screen leads nicely into the second track. The synth arp was very pleasant. Great work!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the mixture of electronic synth and realistic strings it was nice!

Love the composition, sounds like it could be in Minecraft or some other survival game.

Developer

Thank you so much! I love the minecraft music, I'm glad that it reminded you of it.

The mix of orchestral and electronic components was a great choice! I really enjoyed how upbeat the second track sounded, and those strings really tied everything back the theme nicely!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you also thought the orchestral and electronic was a good choice. Was worried stuff wasn't gonna fit the theme as well as I had hoped
