Description
The game is about adventuring in worlds imagined by a child, it would be an rpg where you can play around and do whatever you want in the various worlds. In the background there would be a story of growing up and with all that entails. The first track "Let the adventure begin! (main theme)" represent the main feeling of the game, playfulness and adventurousness and would thus be used as the main menu theme. The second track "Playing in the sand" would appear when the child plays in their sandbox and we enter the first level, it would play as the world theme when walking exploring the desert. The third track "Imagined future" would play when the child is sitting at their computer and is imagining a retro-futuristic world, the track would be the world theme for this world. The final track "Home" would play inbetween visiting the different worlds, the we are in the real world.

The genre of the soundtrack is a bit mixed with most of it being something more orchestral, with the exception of "Imagined future" being more synthwave/retro.

All of the tracks were creating using Musescore 4 with mostly the built in soundfonts and plugins being used, although I did use spitfire LABS for the synths in "Imagined future" and izotope Vinyl for a more lo-fi nostalgic feel.

I composed each track "bottom up" by first choosing rhythms for the accompagnement, then I picked out a chord progression and melody for the various tracks. Lastly I added flourishes a few nice effects. The first track made was "Let the adventure begin! (main theme)" with the other tracks being various variations on themes found therein.

Message from the artist
I hope you appreciate the tracks I have made and find inspiration for your own future projects. I myself feel like I have evolved and improved as a composer during the course of this jam, therefore I feel like you all should be able to freely use these tracks for any project but please contact me if you do so.

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The text theme inspired me a lot by making me think up a game where you visit various imagined worlds, quite literally being inside their world. The picture theme inspired me more thematically by giving the soundtrack a lighearted, happy, somewhat childish vibe.

Nice job! There's some really nice sonic qualities happening at different stages of this one. You soundtrack does a great job of world-building. :)

"Imagined Future" is a vibe, it sounds more like a retro-future or Synthwave kinda thing instead of a full-on sci-fi future but guessing from the cover art, that seems to be what you wanted to go for haha.

Developer(+1)

That is correct, it is exactly what I was going for! Thank you for liking it!

This is really good. I really liked the main theme and playing in the sand was my favorite track.

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate the praise.

Really solid! I think sometimes the instruments like the flutes and strings got a little loud and it could sound a bit off because of that but solid all around

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate the constructive criticism, I'll try to improve my mixing in the future.

This is such a lively soundtrack! It really just sounds like pure, unaltered childlike whimsy, and is an OST that you can just put in the background and vibe to. All the tracks have their own distinct personality, but still feel like they belong in the same game, a welcome feature of any soundtrack! All in all, this OST was just fun all around! Amazing work!

Developer

Thank you! It’s really nice to know that a succeded with the overall feel of the soundtrack and with making them sound unique.

I love your concept for the game, and the music fits it so well! Every track felt rich with their own unique life to them, but also tied together so that I could tell they were all meant for the same game. And I have to praise how well you compose for orchestra! It felt like I was at an actual band concert listening to a performance of several great pieces!

Developer

Thank you! It’s really nice to hear you enjoyed, especially that you think I compose well for orchestra. One of my goals with the soundtrack was actually to impeove on that front.

Wow, these compositions are so vibrant and richly detailed! Creative and compelling work. This was a fun listen. Let the adventure begin immediately pulls you in. The interplay of the piano, flutes, and strings in Home is serene. The orchestration is good throughout. My small suggestion is I think mixing could be improved in some tracks. For example, the percussion is very distant in Playing in the Sand. Also I really loved Playing in the Sand--the weaving melodies are so good (honestly some of the best composition work I've heard so far)--but I found myself wanting some more variation in the song, maybe in terms of dynamics or something. I'm not exactly sure how to explain it but it's like it rode a line the whole time without wavering. Excellent work. Thanks for making and sharing!

Thank you for enjoying my work and for giving it such praise! And I think I get what you mean with wanting some more variation listening back to it now, the accompagnement can sound a little monotonous after a while, varying it up a little would probably improve it. Thanks for the feedback!

Great idea! I love "playing in the sand". All of the tracks fit perfectly the theme and the idea of make a game about a child's dream is so good! Nice work!

Thank you! It's nice to see you enjoyed it

Hey Kraftware, how are you? Hopefully you're doing well! This is awesome... I enjoyed this whole Soundtrack but there's a couple of tracks that I want to talk about specifically!

First, let's talk "Let the Adventure Begin!": Holy crap, this composition is awesome, my first thought was "This person deserves an entire real-life orchestra at their disposal because their orchestration is so good!". This piece has so much personality and charm, all of the textures complement each other so well and there's absolutely zero stale or dull moments throughout! I really can't think of a valid criticism, my only complaint is that hearing how good this composition was with VST's has got me ITCHING to hear it with a live orchestra! I think this was a great way to start off your soundtrack, and I really admire your work here!

Now, let's talk "Playing In The Sand": I also this composition and right off the bat, I enjoy the fact the instrumentation between this piece and the Main Theme are connected. This ultimately creates a feeling of a cohesion and although this piece has much different emotional content than "Let the Adventure Begin", I still feel that they belong together in the same world (which is great)! The main motif that we're hearing in the Woodwinds is SUPER MEMORABLE and this piece also has a ton of great Percussion and Rhythmic Drive, I'm feeling all of the tension and urgency! Just like with your Main Theme, I'm really struggling to find any great criticisms, I genuinely love this piece so much!

Anyways, thanks for sharing your music, Kraftware. I think you're an exceptional composer and I'm excited to hear your work featured in some big video games moving forward! Best of luck to you in the Jam Kraftware!

Thank you! I really appreciate your words and I agree it would really fun to hear my work actually be performed, but I am still quite young (recently turned 18) so there are plenty of opportunities to come!

You captured the theme perfectly! I’m amazed at the whole orchestration and arrangement, specially on « Playing in the Sand »!

Awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I have actually been trying to orchestrate and arrange something for a while now, so it’s nice to hear I have succeded this time.

The soundtrack is very cute, and blends well together. I can imagine the kind of game I'd be playing with this soundtrack! Enjoyed it a lot

Developer

Thank you! It’s nice hear that I’ve accomplished consistency with my soundtrack

Nice little entry. Appreciated the consistency and relation to the game idea. I liked Playing in the Sand, it has a nice rhythm going. Good work!

Developer

Thank you! It’s quite fun to come up with those rhythms.

Let The Adventure Begin! (main Theme) - fun, playful and... cute! As if calling me to new adventures) (Is this Tarantella Napoletana at 0:38?)

Playing In The Sand - It feels like a child in his fantasies wanders through deserted cities, hearing local folk music from everywhere

Imagined Future - The child sat down and played an old game... I like it!

Home - on the one hand, you can feel the comfort of home from memories, on the other - a little sadness for the child that he has to leave the fantasy world for a while

I like variety and originality! The theme is conveyed well :)

Developer

Thank you! I appreaciate the kind words. Also I did not mean for it to sound like Tarantella Napoletana, but it does sound similar, what a coincidence!
