Description
THE GAME:
'Kyoko's World' is a fun, quirky RPG with a hidden dark side. Traverse through the depths of Kyoko's imagination to help her uncover her hidden fears and begin to heal.
THE TRACKS:
'Kyoko's World' is the main theme of the game. It represents the core of Kyoko's character/mind: fun and whimsical, but with a twisted edge to it. The track is mainly orchestral, but it also incorporates weird bubbly synths to help create an underwater atmosphere.
-----------------------------------
'Bogart Blobfish' would be a derpy shop owner that you encounter in the first area of the game. He sells only the finest of wares, from jars of sand to tattered pieces of kelp. He does surprisingly good business, but the poor fish doesn't realize that this is because the decent folk of the Shallows take pity on him.
-----------------------------------
'The Trench of Repression' is a late-game area, located at the farthest reaches of the sea (Kyoko's mindscape). It is dark and twisted and full of dangers, not the least of which being the crushing pressure. Only the strongest can venture there to that hellish part of their psyche.
-----------------------------------
'Minor Crab' is a generic boss-like enemy that you encounter at the end of the Shallows (first area). They are tough enemies that serve the Great Claw, seeking only to eradicate Kyoko's dream bubbles. They think themselves mighty, but alas; they are only minor crabs.
THE PROCESS:
All of the tracks were written over the last week in Logic Pro, using a variety of instruments stock and 3rd party. I was heavily inspired by the OST's of games like 'Undertale', 'Another Crab's Treasure', Yume Nikki, etc.
Message from the artist
Super pumped to be a part of this Jam! Hope you guys enjoy these tracks.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
The game that I imagined would be a quirky RPG where you are playing through Kyoko's imagination, so I used both the image and text to help guide the sound.

Good... the first two tracks are light and relaxing. The last two scare me a little, huh)
A good contrast of moods! I liked it)
I would have to say my favorite track was probably the main theme because I loved the synths you used!
I also quite enjoyed the shop theme.
Thanks! The shop theme was my favorite to write
This was so cute and you nailed the whimsical and goofy aspects of it so well, and the diversity of the tracks is also really cool; especially the huge tonal shift in Trench of Repression.
Thank you! Entering the Trench of Repression would definitely mark a turning point in the game, lots going on down there haha
I absolutely LOVE your soundtrack!!!!! What a colorful one, super diverse and hard to pick a favorite one!
Yume Nikki influence is definitely there, especially in Kyoko's World.
Great work!!!
Thank you! I definitely wanted to make this OST more unique and diverse, so I'm glad that you appreciate that aspect of it.
Really cute soundtrack and goofy for second part ^^
Loved the ambience in third track ;)
Good job ^^
Great job, following you on Soundcloud right away. The level of polish, work and talent here are insane. What a lovely complete OST! Amazing!
Thank you, glad you like it!
I like the use of the electric piano throughout the beginning tracks, they do well at encapsulating an aquatic feel. Bogart Blowfish has that nice jazzy feel, I am quite the shop theme enthusiast so it is always nice to hear a good one. Trench of Repression feels much like a stressful preparation of something large coming, the ambience is great. While I noticed you mentioned elsewhere "minor crab" was only made in 45 minutes, the pacing of the synth melody gives a somewhat grand feeling, with the tuned percussion instruments keeping a bit of that "It's just a minor crab" feeling, I hope I am interpreting that correctly but still it is pretty good. Overall, a great job, fits the story well and it sounds good!
Thank you, pretty spot on with your descriptions! Also that's generally the vibe I was going for with 'Minor Crab': a little goofy and small sounding, but with a menacing/serious undertone.
This is a cohesive and believable soundtrack overall. My favorite track is Bogart Blobfish.
Nice job, your music fits the theme completely! The main theme was my favorite song, really dreamy and lovely.
Appreciate it, glad you like the music!
Really cool ideas! The boss song could use a bit more movement, but overall, it's a solid soundtrack.
Thanks! I would have liked to have fleshed "Minor Crab" out more, but I only had 45 minutes or so to write it haha. I viewed it more as a writing challenge for myself than anything.
Had to listen to this because my gf's name is Kyoko. Lol
Great job on this!
Haha, it's a cool name. Glad you enjoyed the music!
The music is great, but we gotta talk about those track names. Bogart Blobfish is GOLD! Especially given the description you provided.
Haha, appreciate it brother! I wanted the story to be more fleshed out for this project, makes it feel more real to me. I'd definitely buy Bogart's famous "Jar of Sand" item if "Kyoko's World" was a real RPG.
I think your whole OST really fits the theme, I liked those ambient tracks as they have a unique, dreamy and ethereal quality to them. Very nice!
Appreciate it man, glad you liked my work!
I really like the theming of this game idea and tracks; quirky indie RPGs are my kind of thing. This was an interesting listen because I can pick out elements of Undertale and Stardew Valley's soundtracks, but it's still decidedly in its own style with some nice nautical undertones. Super cool stuff, I think these tracks make for a really believable soundtrack, the shop and boss theme especially.
Thank you! I really tried to step it up with the theming/world-building this time around, so I appreciate that that element of the OST stuck out to you.
