Thank you very much for the feedback! A lot of players experienced problems with the objectives at two spots in the game. As for the font - I guess next time we'll tone down the chromatic aberration glitch effect a bit! It is eyecandy, but that doesn't help when you want to read something.
An amazing little game! I loved the aesthetics and sound design! There were points I didn’t quite know what I was supposed to do next, which bumped me out of the immersion a little… for instance, zooming at the top of the lighthouse during the day… I did the zoom but didn’t realize I was expected to do that around the edge. Was walking around for 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do next… but I figured it out.
Over all, very creepy game, amazingly done, and well worth the play!!!
Sorry for the confusion! Thanks for checking our game out and the feedback. I'm glad you liked it!
The atmosphere was great, I felt so much tension while playing it! Was a great experience, and definitely one of the games that scared me the most in this jam. Great job!
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it!
the build up and tension in this game is phenomenal-- great job! walking up and down the stairs got a bit tedious (i went up and down more than i probably should have trying to figure out what to do next) but the game is fantastic overall
Thanks for playing and thank you so much for the feedback!
I love the atmosphere and absolutely adore the visuals, I was a little lost on the progression but I think that just me, really great entry.
Thanks for checking the game out and for the feedback! If there is a next time, we'll try to communicate the objectives clearer!
It was a fun experience! Only a tiny bit of sound feedback: the different SFX steps on the stairs were not randomized, they always sounded in order and it was a bit strange, you could always add also a bit of random pitch/volume to them and they would sound more organic. Good work!
Hey, thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I have a huge respect for the audio department, it can make all the difference with a game experience.
I loved the nostalgia effect that it game me!
Hey, thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it!
Really awesome game! The aesthetics is what brings it all together and makes it very enjoyable
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed the game!
That playstation cd case cover art is quality!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely loved the aesthetics of this game. Felt very on edge the entire game!
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it!
Like many others, I loved the PS1 look. The fact that I’m alone on an island, looking after a lighthouse that seems to be haunted, has a very scary effect that works well, and I had no trouble finishing the game, although it’s true that the ascending/descending phases can be a little long, perhaps even deliberately so to add some heaviness to the experience. I think this is a really cool project, well done!
Thank you so much for the feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the game! You can imagine - it was also a blast to work on it.
Very cool PS1 style. The time it takes to go up the stairs section is very well choosen and doesn't overstay its welcome. The ship spotting took a bit to understand what i was ment to do, but all in all very atmospheric and good execution!
Thanks a lot for checking out our game! We're glad you liked it!
The visuals were cool, it really tried to capture the PS1 feel. The narrative was good, but the scare was a bit lacking in my opinion. In the other hand a bit more speed would have been nice, I understand where the theme of the character moving slowly to generate tension comes from, but going up the stairs and coming back down several times because I wasn't sure what to do and looking at the horizon several times without anything happening and then going back down and back up again in the end I ended up going up crushing the spacebar and to go down I jumped directly over the edge of the stairs because it was exaggeratedly tedious.. And I think I did a skip because I looked at the ship for the second time on the ground and not on the top of the lighthouse, and the fuses breaked while I was watching them. Anyway, the small cutscenes and intro were cool to set the mood, and the sound design was good. Some atmospheric music would have been nice aswell! Good job!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! I knew about the stair skip exploit, but I didn't know you could detect the ship from ground level! That is...awesome in a way :D If there is a next time, we will try to communicate clearer what to do.
super nice atmosphere...reminds me of that Robert Eggers' movie. I love the sound design and game art. The cues are a bit confusing but i enjoyed just walking around in the scenes
Thanks for the feedback and the recommendation! I guess I'll have to study his visual style <3 Sorry for the cue confusion, it's hard to communicate from the afterlife!
I think walking could have been a bit faster and I was rather confused at multiple times on what I was meant to do. Really cool atmosphere. The props and general level layout feel "full" in a good way. Sound design was nice too; I liked the humming fridge a lot for some reason.
Thank you for the feedback and the huge compliment! I'm glad you like what we came up with to fill the world!
Maybe I,'m just stupid, but this game was quite boring, and the painfully slow speed of movement plus almost invisible ground and walls with the flashlight were a large part of that. It made finding the various clues difficult, and the lack of indication for when to zoom or not made my playthroug unnecessarily annoying. Walking up and down and up and down and around and back up before realizing I needed to zoom in while walking around to confirm that there was no boat-despite being able to see the lack of boat light clearly without zooming- completely killed any enthusiasm I initially had.
Atmosphere and sound design was good, but the gameplay and lack of scares/tension ruined it unfortunately.
Thank you for your feedback!
If any consolation, I got stuck at the patrol bit as well. without clues of what to do.
Yeah, that was a bit weird. I could see the boat light the first time without needing to zoom, so I got stuck there for a couple minutes until I realized you had to hold the zoom on it to confirm. Then it happened again for even longer later when you had to not only zoom, but walk around while zooming to confirm the lack of a boat light. Felt completely unnecessary.
And I couldn't even see most of the clues in the lighthouse. Whatever made the character freak out in the bathroom was totally invisible to me as the flashlight didn't light up the wall at all. I don't even know if something was on the wall/mirror It was very selective with which materials it would actually light up. I liked the visuals and atmosphere, but the bugs and annoying zooming stuff, plus the slow movement and lack of scares unfortunately made it not worthwhile to me.
I love the psx graphics. I watched a gameplay vid because it wasn't clear what to do sometimes.
Thanks for checking out the game and the feedback! Sorry for the confusion!
I really likd the walking sim game as I've made the same ! I liked your game art style more! Really superb work
Thank you!! Don't put your own game down, we're all part of one walking sim fleet :D
Me love a good traditional atmospheric scary walking horror game. Pristine graphics. Just thought the movement could be faster (or less stairs...) and perhaps the final cutscene a bit more intimidating. Also perhaps the real evil were the stairs we walked along the way. Awesome job on this, really impressive to put it all together in a week.
Thank you so much! We're glad you liked the game...and yes...the stairs. My secret inspiration was a medieval watchtower which is a pain to walk up and down.
The only critique I have is I felt the movement was a little slow but other than that this was a great little horror game.
Thank you for the feedback! Maybe the lighthousekeeper was indeed too relaxed...
