This is really well written story. I really enjoyed it!~

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!

This is one of the most horrifying horror stories I've ever seen. And the scariest part is, that it's so actual.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing - I was definitely going for a reflection of the real world!

Submitted

Interesting story, though really long. Took a good amount of time to get through it. Wish there was some audio to go with it

Developer

Yeah, audio is probably the main thing I would do if I had a bit more time. Thanks for playing though!

Submitted

One of the better stories told in the GameJam. The AI twist was really haunting

Developer

Thanks for playing, really glad you liked it!

Submitted

Really like the line-art artstyle, looks clean and minimalistic!

Developer

Thanks, Eshera did a great job with the art!

I enjoyed the writing and it gave me a lot to think about. The reveal is pretty telegraphed, especially considering the game's title, which I think made the pacing feel slower than it otherwise would have. But I liked your take on things and I liked the Scarlett character.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! You're right that the title telegraphs the reveal to a certain degree, but when I thought of the title I couldn't not use it! Glad you enjoyed!

Very good story, I am not big into visual novels usually but this one I actually had to see through to the end because your story-crafting is pretty darn good. It's pretty scary, but not in the traditional horror sense, it's just... scary. Good one.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I was definitely going for a non-traditional horror, jump scares aren't really my thing :)

wow you knocked it out the park with story depth!! I've personally been focused on gameplay side for gamejams and just on this jam tried to add some "setting" for visual narrative.  soo it was really inspiring to see how you handled it. Also really good decisions on visual narrative like colors, the phone or qol features like quicksave, love it and will try to add some of that for my next jams

Developer

Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the story! This is my first time in decades doing any long form creative writing and it makes me super happy to see people relating to it and enjoying it.

To be fair, the saving and dialogue history stuff is included standard when using Ren'py so I didn't actually have to put any time into that :)

Congrats Ben, I really enjoyed it. Very impressed with the writing and the art was perfect for the story being told. I agree with Redcakes that a "where are they now" would be great.

Developer(+1)

Thanks - maybe we can work together on something sometime! :D

this is peak jam game performance for me, has a perfect scope and delivers on it, congrats!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! Scope is definitely the trickiest thing when it comes to game jams, I've learned that the hard way :)

This game hit really close to home. Thank you. It's just so inspiring to see artists sharing their experiences about AI, big corporates and work.
It was really cathartic to be able to quit a job... even if it was fiction. This will keep me thinking for some time. I will share it with friends and colleagues.
Congratulations, and greetings from Argentina, working for a big sh*tty multinational media company.
Thank you again!

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad the story resonated with you, thanks so much for playing and for sharing!

The overall settings is kinda interesting, but to be frank, didnt want to read thru that all text 😐 And as the visuals also dont really tell the story that much, it must be read. It would be definitely nice to listen to it. But the potential is there, also with the options to choose how the story will go!  Also like how the polished the menu and stuff around it is!

Developer

Yeah, if you're not interested in reading dialogue then visual novels probably aren't for you :D Glad you enjoyed the setting though, thanks for trying!

Well written story, good depth as well!

I like the smart art decisions to simplify production and show things in slides.

The phone sliding in gave some dynamic to the game!

Quite interesting to see the character changing color according to their emotion, really nice way of displaying that!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and glad you enjoyed it!

Really enjoyed the story. I do wish there was even just a short little 'where are they now" kinda thing at the end but that just means it left me wanting more so great job! Not sure if it was an issue on my end but I couldn't hear anything even after adjusting the volume in the game settings. Speaking of which I love that settings were included and even save files too! Not common for jam gams but appreciated.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! On the sound, we didn't get time to add anything and given the subject matter and gameplay decided it was OK without - if we extend upon it post-jam we'd likely add some atmospheric hum and some simple music.

For the save games and such you can thank Ren'py, it was my first time using the engine but I was very impressed.

One of the best visual novel game I’ve ever played for a jam!!!!!

such an interesting game! I love the concept of it.

Scarlet reminds me of a former colleague who resigned. I decided to stick it out, though hahahaha.

Developer(+1)

I've definitely known people like Scarlett, her texting style and attitude is inspired by multiple people I used to know a decade or so ago :D

I definitely feel the same way as Wrinkly Brain Studios. This whole game feels like my life the past several months. The writing in this game is really good!

Love a game thats eerily relatable.

First game I've played made with Ren'py
