I love the aesthetics it seems very cohesive. I think the difficulty curve is the only thing I'd say needs a little change because once I had my initial defenses set up it was pretty easy to just wait for mana to grow and then upgrade. I love the little animations for the bear and the casting spells mechanic. Maybe a little variety in regards to placement or even where enemies come from as that would add some more uncertainty. Great submission regardless.

Very cute and polished aestetic, especially for a 7 day affair. Gameplay is fine, not much originality, basic tower defence. The difficulty curve could probably be increased a bit, it didn't take long for me to have good enough defenses that I could just tab out. A speed up button would've been a great feature to help this as well. If it wasn't already done, for next time I suggest getting some playtest done much earlier during production, no matter how basic the game is. Lack of combat SFX does also make combat a bit dull.

Neat little game, good job guys, you have a lot of potential!

A nice tower defence with a lo of heart and a spooky story. Very polished and well thought.

Cute TD game. Would be nice to have more options for placement. Great theme and sounds!

The artwork is beautiful! Great little tower defense, and I love that you had such a strong theme and had dialogue between the waves to further the story. Well done!

My master strategy was working so well until it all fell apart lol
No but ye, this was a good game, left me wanting for more and hoping to play more. Visually very pleasing (I do adore the art style here), the controls were working well and music was super. Like said I only wish there was a bit more, I wanted to play more lol So, hope you guys continue development! Great work on this.

As there are endless waves, at some point every strategy should fall apart :)
There were a bit more story planned, and a target wave which unlocks the final conclusion of the story.
I also hope we can add these after the Jam ends.

Very nice game and I agree with realGuybrush 's comment about the upgrades. One other thing I noticed was that the enemies are drawn from the rear to the front of the line, or in reverse spawn order perhaps. This meant the enemy at the start of the line was overdrawn by the one behind it when walking downwards.

But I enjoyed it and played to the bitter end. Great work!

Developer(+1)

I didn't consider changing the draw order based on the order in the line when a faster enemy gets ahead. This is a good idea, thanks!

Adorable game, interesting story and fascinating idea, well done!
And yet I would like to give some hopefully constructive criticism about balance and some other features:
1. amount of fear earned is getting a bit to low at later waves, making it almost impossible to finish game unharmed; although it seems that amount earned increases when enemies are near, it would bemefit from about additional 5-7% value
2. after Hex is hurt, wave instantly dissapears, removing all potential fear you could've earned until end of the wave, which makes it incredibly difficult to bounce back; I suppose it would be logical, if each time Hex is damaged, you'd receive a lot of fear: anybody's fear level would soar, if their face got carved like a pumpkin!
3. robot and bear don't upgrade as effectively as soldiers, to the point, that neither of them can outdamage soldier even if they require the same amount of fear to upgrade (and from the start as); robot, as an atk spd based defence, would benefit from targeting the fastest enemies and having atk spd increase from upgrades, while both robot and bear should have far greater range and damage growth per upgrade
4. you don't really need so much time for preparations, so skip button would come in handy, as well as an ability to speed up game a bit
5. having restart button after defeat would be very nice.
Overall I think you've done a great job in these 7 days, and I beleive your team have a bright future in gamedev.
Keep up the good work, and best of luck!

Thank you for this detailed feedback!

1. It is not almost impossible to finish the game unharmed, it is absolutely impossible to finish the game unharmed, as there are endless waves :) The ending should change based on the waves defeated, but we had to cut this part sadly.
2. You are absolutely right. The original idea was that this soaring fear would create a "magic explosion", and this wipes the remaining wave. But we forgot about adding the corresponding condensed fear.
3-4 We didn't have time to playtest the final configuration, these would be nice changes.
5. I couldn't make sure that evrything gets resetted properly, so instead of a possibly buggy restart, I opted for browser reload, hoping for causing less fustration this way. So I agree that a restart button would be nice.

Thank you for the kind words!

Beautiful art and nice story. I have spend lot of time in your game, so many waves! Thanks for this. Like a comment at the bottom, a mechanic that lets you play with the area where Hex is hiding? Great job team!

Fantastic game! The art is beautiful, the story fun and engaging, the gameplay addicting, and even the music was a vibe. It did take some trial and error to figure out what role each toy was meant to serve but that didn't really matter since by wave 3 you probably have had a chance to try them all out.

Quality game with an engaging narrative! Great visuals and audio.

it's a loooong game but so amazing art, and nice cozy atmosphere it really worth playing it. I was thinking in the beginning maybe some mana (ot booster what it's called) pick up would be great like the suns in PvZ but by the end I didn't missed those. congrats,  I went full toy soldier by the end, but I wonder what's the best combo.

Thank you so much! <3

I liked the visual of the game and the gameplay! Cool

With visuals and story this game is on another level. Not exactly clear, why monsters already know where the player is hiding. Would be interesting to see a tower defense game, where you could switch positions, or monsters sought you. Thanks for the game!

Love the twist!

Submitted(+3)

I really liked the game design and the art style. Those bears were my strongest warriors!!

Submitted(+3)

I really like how the story is implemented into the game design!

Thank you so much!

Cool game. I like the visuals, and needing enemies to get closer to you to get more currency isn't an idea ive seen before in a tower defense game, so thats pretty interesting. I wish there was a speed up button though, some of the earlier waves can drag a bit.

Developer(+1)

It definitely was an interesting approach we had in mind! So glad you liked it! I agree a speed button would have been nice haha

Not a game I usually play so I'm bad at it, but its cute!

I love the art.
