this is really cool.

Maybe they’ll used to pair devs against eachother in later rounds. Or may have some different tasks for each category.

The game idea is cool, visuals and specially that sqake sound is spot on. One funny thing i found in the game is: if duck gets too close to shark it will raise above the see level and after it can climb on top of island. I think its minor bug adding gravity or restricting duck movement in only 2 axis will solve this. that being said I very much enjoyed this bug too. loved the game. it has nice elements like idle upgrades and then some exploring. enjoyed the game. The one thing I notice was jet can still collect coins after getting destroyed.

Art is lit! I think the transition animations are bit janky. when plyer jumps and hit something in air it starts running in air. controls needs bit improvements. overall this game has potential.

Thanks for playing. controls are based on PSX2 emulator. It use to have WASD for movement and IJKL for other action buttons. I’ll try to implement customizable controls in future. thanks for pointing this out.

glad you liked the game. The current character was supposed to be a temporary one, as it was slime from my previous unfinished jam and its easy to create sprites for this one. I think if I qualified, I’ll come up with a story related to slime. Thank you for the feedback.

Thanks for the heads up. And yes I’ve struggled with wall jump, still looking for ways to improve its feel. Specially when player too close to wall, player immediately sticks to wall. Also jumping opposite the wall is still challenging. I try to look for a solution if don’t find anything I’ll change the mechanics from wall jump to wall climbing.

cool game. it’s kind of hard to guess the primary and secondary mechanic with no description but I think the box is primary and rectangle is secondary mechanic. overall game is engaging and nice.

Cool platformer, lasers felt annoying in some levels but overall its good and engaging.

Thanks for your feedback. For jam round 1, this is supposed to be demonstration for the game mechanics, so I just felt it’s better to have directions. When I work on level/world design I’ll keep your suggestion in mind.

I’ve made some alterations in jump logic. I think it’s better that before. Tried to use the acceleration/deceleration. It does feels nice but it was somehow interfering with the wall jump logic. So I think it’s best to try this in fresh project, if I get it to work then I’ll update in this project.

Thanks a lot for pointing this out. you’re right I’m not using any acceleration for player mechanics and your observation regarding jump is also spot on. I’ll start looking into these things. for this particular project I tried to come up with my own logic for the things, there’s still lot for me to learn. it’s not my first project but I’m still a beginner in game development with few months of self-thought experience.

Thank you for your feedback. what do you feel i should do to remove that robotic behavior? if its because of the character appearance then I think having some extra sprites will do the trick (for now all the animations are about 2-3 frames long) if anything else do let me know.
