Nice top-down shooter with interesting powerups. I especially liked the inventory system and the minigame of arranging things in my bag. My favorite item was the rat because of its strange shape and the cute rats it spawned.

The screenshake effect was just slightly too strong for me personally, but I liked the effects a lot in general.

Neat graphics, especially the menu and splash screen! I made it through to wave 11 :)

First of all, the dialogue system was smooth and nicely made. All the minigames were very creative - I especially liked the "guess what the client is thinking" game. Very cute character portraits! I wanted to do a good job for my coworkers :)

I think this fits the theme PERFECTLY. The powerups had unpredictable effects on the minigames and the navigation, but they made sense in the context of the office (nobody wants to smell bad). My best strategy was to choose foods with dairy and play the sorting and client minigames as much as possible. I really liked the graphics for each of the powerups; they looked kinda gross xD

I really enjoyed this entry :) congrats to your team for such a polished and well-scoped game!

Solidly on-theme. Congrats on building so many powerups in one day!

I would have liked to see different colors for the powerups, so that with some practice, I could learn to avoid the bad ones. I tried 3 or 4 times but could never get past the giant pit/staircase with the upward pointing-arrows. I fell down each time and had to try and find a flight or reverse gravity power, but more often I got drunk or small and the ghost ate me :)

Overall I enjoyed this game :)

Great sounds and graphics, plus you really nailed the arcade game-play. The powerups were definitely strange... the one that made me invisible was pretty dangerous, as was resize.

It seemed a little redundant to press spacebar to shoot. Because I couldnt run out of ammo, I just held it down the entire time.

I had fun in this arcade-inspired game. Congrats to your team for completing the jam!

Lots of fun with charming graphics and music and atmosphere. The intro set the tone and I explained everything perfectly. I enjoyed finding the different ways to escape.

Neat take on the theme - I think it fit perfectly. Collecting the actions was strange (especially when it changed the UI with movement arrows) and the taste action was both strange and also thematic.

I had a great time with this :)

Thank you so much! Gamemaker is great but i don't think it natively supports web :(

Absolutely gorgeous menu and art. I was blown away. Wish I could give 6 stars for visuals!

Very challenging levels but it was worth it to explore.

The powerups totally changed the levels which was very interesting and unpredictable.

The shooting effects and character movement is so smooth and satisfying :)

After restarting, I didn't get my medkits back.

Loved the intro text - it really set the tone.

Very fun with some neat puzzles! I got all the way through :)

I liked the shadow effect on the player! My only recommendation is to have the music continue when moving from level to level. As it is, the music restarts a lot.

Great level design and interesting use of changing states in the platformer.

Very fun - i loved the destructible environment. I agree with kkcn, it would be really cool if the powerups stacked. I loved getting my doppleganger and it would have been cool to get a bunch of them :)

Overall an incredibly solid entry - I'm excited to see what you do next!

I played all the way through to the end! This was a blast! The graphics were great and I liked the game-play loop. It was very easy to understand but entertaining throughout. I appreciated that I could keep coloring the world after I defeated the raccoons. The timing of the plant growth was perfect in my opinion - just long enough to make me want to do something else, but short enough that it wasn't annoying to wait for a color if I needed.

I agree with the other commenters that it would be nice to not have to select the color that I want to use to color an object. I really liked the text effect that appeared when changing inventory selection.

I loved the background music and I appreciated the tutorial. The game was well polished and a great experience from start to finish.

WOW this is spectacular! I loved wandering around the party, trying drinks, and embarrassing myself in front of the wacky partygoers. Even as a native english speaker, the game was pretty hard but it was easier once I learned the effects of some of the drinks. The gameplay was incredible - you really captured the feeling of being stuck in your head trying to make small-talk with strangers. The combination of powerups+scrabble on a timer was really unique, and I loved the splitscreen between the inside of the brain and the 3D party. My favorite parts of the level were the crazy clock on the wall and the mysterious area outside of the barn doors.

The music was also fantastic and perfectly stressful.

Absolutely superb and definitely STRANGE game.

Oh this is neat!! Very easy to understand but surprisingly addictive. I liked the calming music and the background color change was a nice change of pace. I found the easter egg :)

It would have been cool to see more powerups, like ones that make the paddle wider, or slow down the balls. Also, it was a little hard to keep the extra balls in play, but they occasionally would help me score an extra point or two so I still tried to pick them up.

Very neat entry with a unique take on pong.

I loved the atmosphere, vibes, art, and music. The animation on the title screen was super cute and detailed. I also liked all the idle animations for the characters.

Like some of the other players, I had trouble figuring out how to place things and grow pumpkins - it wasn't obvious to me that I could press 1-5 to use my inventory bar. I also noticed I could duplicate items by clicking on them in my inventory, clicking on the ground to place the item there (it wouldn't actually PLACE the objects so I could interact with them, it just set them down), and then placing the item back in my inventory. Then when I walked over the item, I'd pick it up again and have two of the same thing.

Overall I think this is a fun entry with a strong sense of mood and lots of charm. I really enjoyed it :)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! My idea was a sort of cross between Galaga and Breakout so I'm glad it was nostalgic.

I definitely need to reduce the difficulty since I don't think anybody made it past the first few levels. Next jam I'll try to get testers to play the prototype :)

Thanks again!

Thanks for playing!

Thanks mate! I was a little stumped on how to make the powerups stranger. I'm glad you liked it :)

Aww thank you! Great suggestion and thank you for playing!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the retro-arcade style - that's what I was going for.

I definitely think I should tune the difficulty a bit more :) Thanks again!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! I was also surprised by the file size :)

Fantastic game with a great twist on the theme. I loved how easy the game was to understand, and how the powerups were geninuely helpful but also had drawbacks to watch out for. Cute graphics too and I love the one-button input.

Congrats on your first game, this is really impressive!

Very neat project - I liked the added challenge from needing to wait for the ring to return before attacking again.

I agree with the other commenter that it would be cool to see more variety from the rocks.

I thought the powerups were well-balanced. The fish was my favorite but the explosive power got me through a few waves and the shield saved me more than once :)

Great jam entry! Congrats!

Wow I loved the pacing of this! I liked how collecting the different items made me stronger (more able to avoid the ghosts), but also changed the way I avoided them. The movement was very fun, I thought it was a nice touch to make the player move faster when youre walking in the direction of the light beam - it was very spooky to try and outrun the ghosts.

Honestly such a great jam game!

This was lots of fun and super polished. The movement felt clean, especially once I got the hang of sliding the boxes.

The powerups perfectly fit the theme, and I liked how the random possibilities changed the way I could escape the level.

Well done!!

That's great! Congrats on joining the game and getting started with game development! I look forward to seeing what you make :)

I'll try again with the boot! I definitely want to explore more!

I might have missed the text because I couldn't see the whole screen when I played in browser :) the sides (and maybe the top too) were slightly cut off. Cheers mate!

Thanks for the hint! I played through the rest, and really enjoyed how the last two levels tested all my skills. This was an impressive jam entry! One thing that would have been nice is if the camera panned more in the direction I was moving - a lot of the time it was centered behind me. But I liked how you used that on level 9 for the mushroom trap :)

Fun art style and a neat world to explore! I wish I could have talked to the person swimming in the water :)

It was a little hard to avoid getting hit by the spiders while fighting them - maybe that was the intention. If not, maybe they could get knocked back a little bit after you hit them to reward good timing. Not sure if that's the point of the game though :)

I loved the rat poison power-up. I'm not sure what else I expected :)

This was really fun! The movement was GREAT and you really made me feel like a ninja. The way the ball sprite squeezes when moving fast made the game feel extra smooth, and I loved the slow-motion effects. It feels bad-ass to teleport, fall from the sky, stick bombs on enemies, and blow them up. I also appreciated the option to customize my ball color.

I have a few small recommendations:

  1. Can the game show a message telling me which upgrade I get after the wave?
  2. Can the bomb still explode even if it doesnt attach to anyone? The explosion effects are amazing and it feels bad to not get to see it because I missed :)
  3. The explosion effect feels extremely powerful, but it doesnt affect any enemies near the explosion. Maybe it could push them away a bit so it looks like theyre moved by the blast?

I think this has a lot of potential if you ever want to expand on it. Again, the best part of this game is that it really made me feel like a slippery ninja-ball with an array of deadly weapons. Very cool.

I liked the level switching to change the game from action to puzzle. The graphics were pretty cute!

I agree with watitch700 about the hitboxes - sometimes it was hard to tell when the enemies would be able to get me.

Powerups were very on-theme - quite Strange indeed

This is super unique! The attachment mechanic is very clever and perfectly fits the "strange" theme. How do you use the boots to jump? I wasn't sure if there was a button I needed to press.

The music and atmosphere was relaxing and made me feel like I had lots of time to experiment and try rolling around.

I would recommend adding some kind of tracker that shows you which direction enemies are - sometimes it was hard to find the next one.

I played for quite a few minutes. Overall, this is an an extremely interesting and creative concept that I would love to see more of.

I downloaded the HTML but it just shows a black screen. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong. Let me know what to do so I can come back and rate :)

Loved the art-style and theming! The sketches were cute and I liked how upgrading the enemies changed their graphics. Very clean top-down shooter with some "strange" powerup mechanics. I'm excited to see what you do in the future!

Cool game! The power-up was definitely strange and I liked the theme. I knew things were getting serious when the green recycling bins came out.

I would have liked to see some kind of effect when I hit the trashcans - something to know the hit registered. Like Eymon said, it was a little hard to tell the distance I had to stand to deal damage.

Great job with a cool 3D game!

I loved the 3D track and environment, plus the high-res graphics added a lot of polish.

The car seemed a little slow for me - I think the game would feel extra fast-paced if the car was faster.

I liked the powerups - most of them seemed to make the game harder, which fit with the "strange" theme. The jet-boost was my favorite.

I got it! That was devious!

Level 4 also stumped me but I figured it out by thinking outside the box :)

Great top-down roguelite! The powerups were definitely "strange" - my favorite combination was "be the wand" plus "bouncy" :)

Graphics were great and the sounds and particle effects were very punchy. The first boss I fought had a lot of HP, but the others were easier after I got more powers. I especially liked the sound effect for when the boss swings at you - it makes the attack sound like it has a lot of power.

Very fun game! I got to level 8!
