Great submission with a good story! Art is just gorgeous and the music is beautiful. Unfortunately, had a harder time with gameplay, often missing jumps, etc., so I had to play a few different times before I finally felt I was far enough in to give an informed rating. Thank you for adding in the key options. Made it easier to add keys I was comfortable with <3

Oh yes, I think I die if I go out of the screen with an anti gravity potion, though maybe that was intended?

Amazing graphics, and the music fits the game perfectly, I loved the story of the game. I wish we had unlimited hearts :D , well made game !

Suggestion: Adding coyote time would be nice.

Really beautiful pixel art gamešŸ˜Š!

Graphically, the game looks great, and the music creates a very good vibe in combination with the graphics. Wonderful ambiance. Crazy power-ups... theme... check.

The controls, however, are somewhat lacking, at least in my experience. The character moves a bit too fast, and you easily fall off edges while frantically pressing the jump button. This makes the experience sometimes frustrating. I think some coyote time would help. Also, switching from jumping with the keyboard to using the mouse for potions sometimes caused confusion. Fortunately, the environment and atmosphere put a smile back on my face, and I played the game with pleasure. The concept of crafting power-ups was also a nice twist and addition to the platforming.

All in all, a beautiful, fun, and also challenging game that could use some polishing but is certainly a good foundation for more in possible future updates. Solid entry for the jam. Keep up the good workšŸ’Ŗ!

Thank you so much! I have experience as a composer but its the first game where I made the art! Im so happy and glad that it gets such a positive feedback, didnt expect that. Did tons of tutorials during tha jam... XD

Also thanks for the constructive feedback on the gameplay!

Absolutely gorgeous menu and art. I was blown away. Wish I could give 6 stars for visuals!

Very challenging levels but it was worth it to explore.

The powerups totally changed the levels which was very interesting and unpredictable.

thank you so much!

integrating speedruning into this game is genius. i have no idea how it only says 2 minutes at the end because i feel like i have played for at least 10 minutes, but it was a lot of fun, i liked the clever uses of the potions, and the calm atmosphere, the art and music created. it feels like i get a view to this character little world. i have one small issue with the game and it is the movement. it needs some improvement (mainly the jumping) but really a great game. very cute easteregg XD

well done!

Ohhh you did beat the Boss!! :Dddd

as others have said the art in your game is astonishing though the gameplay was confusing at start and holy cow the speed of the character is again too fast. overall pretty good job at making this in such a small time

Developer

thank you. Im so happy you liked my Art!

I really enjoyed this  platformer! The potion mechanics that alter the world, like the no-gravity potion, were a fantastic take on the "strange power-up" theme. As a fan of platformers, I appreciated the beautiful moving stars in the background and the lovely music that enhanced the experience. The UI was perfect, with lots of elements that added to the game without feeling cluttered. I also loved the story you incorporated; it inspired me to think about how to weave narratives into my own games more effectively. Great job!

Developer

thank you so much for mentioning my music. Really appreciate that! ;-;

Wow, this game is absolutely beautiful! Love the artwork for everything from the player to the environment to the intro scene its all very well done and cohesive. You're did a great job of creating a kind of ethereal vibe with the music and art combo and it really helped me feel like I was in the mysterious world that may or may not be ending along with the character I was controlling. I loved the intro cutscene and the opening dialogue from the NPC was really nicely written and though provoking without being pretentious. I think you nailed the aesthetic on this game. My criticisms are more on the gameplay side of things. I think forcing the player to craft potions in order to clear obstacles in a platformer is not the best design decision because it constantly breaks up the action. Platformers are at their best when you get in the zone of moving around the map and get a flow going. The potion system forces you out of this frequently. Also, I think some coyote time would have helped a lot as some of the jumps could be quite unforgiving.  Overall, I think you've made a really beautiful and polished game that is very easy on the eyes, but could use a few gameplay tweaks to make it even better. Nice entry!!

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked the story

thank you so much for your comment!

love the atmosphere you've created within this game through the art, sound and dialogue! i'm not very good at platformers in general so this was extra tricky for me (ngl took me 3 mins to make the first jump)

thank you so much!

Amazing job with the graphics and art!

The art in this game is probably one of the best, maybe even the best in this jam! I liked the overall setup with the story and the power-ups. My only real problem was,  that I sometimes wanted to jump while walking down a platform resulting into the jump not correctly detecting and me falling, which felt a bit unsmooth. Overall it's a very nice entry for this jam though!

Developer(+1)

oh thank you! I love your Game so much! :D

I really liked the style of graphics, and you had a nice take on the theme, but there is one thing that bothered me. The difficulty. I had a problem even with basic platforming. I think it's mostly due to the main character moving REALLY fast.

Other than that- I see the potential here. Crafting the strange powerups was something I liked.

Over all- good job

thank you for your Feedback! :)

First of all, I want to talk about the story of the game, which I personally enjoyed a lot. Itā€™s really, really good and incredibly interesting, it even reminds me of our own world, where humanity keeps destroying more and more. But putting that sadness aside, the cutscenes were simply outstanding! I loved each one of them and the way the story is presented to us is very well done. I particularly liked the phrase at the end of the scenes, something like "may the mistakes of the past serve as lessons for the future."

The gameā€™s scenery is one of the most beautiful Iā€™ve ever seen. The artwork is incredible, spectacular, and truly amazing! I really appreciated how you harmonized the colors and the overall elements. The music was also excellent, giving the feeling that everything is connected, even when weā€™re in different environments. Iā€™m sure that was intentional, and you executed it wonderfully!

The gameplay is great too! The idea of creating your own powers is brilliant, and it becomes even more fun because we have to collect ingredients to use them. The powers are very creative, I particularly enjoyed the one that swaps the order of objects, it turned into a very interesting and well-designed puzzle. My browser even lagged a bit during that part (but thatā€™s my PCā€™s fault, itā€™s exhausted from work haha). I believe it was due to the number of objects and executions happening in that area.

The game is exceptional, really well done! If you donā€™t mind, Iā€™d like to offer a few suggestions to improve certain aspects (art and code):

Code Improvements:

- Adjust the playerā€™s speed to a more moderate pace, making movement satisfying but not too fast.

- Try to reduce the number of items executing simultaneously on screen (like the power that swaps order), as it can consume a lot of memory.

- I noticed a small bug (I believe itā€™s a bug) in the level where weā€™re introduced to the power of swapping order. If we die falling into the hole on the left, we canā€™t collect the item to create the gravity power unless we reset the room with "R."

- In the menu, even though we can change the commands to our preferred buttons, it would be great to separate them by category. For example, the character movement commands are separated, but it would be better to arrange them in order like "left, up, right, down" to make it easier for players to identify which command they want to change.

Art Improvements:

- Increase the contrast of the text against the background. Yes, the harmony is lovely, but sometimes itā€™s necessary to enhance legibility.

- The hazards in the scenery follow the same idea. The harmony looks perfect, but thereā€™s not much visual indication of whatā€™s about to happen. For example, the crystals that shoot magic (I believe itā€™s magic) could change color briefly before firing, alerting the player to incoming danger. Another interesting example is the spikes on the ground, they could kick up a little dust or tremble slightly before rising to warn the player.

Congratulations on the game, itā€™s truly great!!! You all did an excellent job.

One last thing: for some reason, the computer version isnā€™t opening for me. Iā€™d love to test it again without the lag I experienced. If itā€™s not too much trouble, could you upload it somewhere else and send me the link? Please donā€™t modify the current version for the Jam, as that would cause issues, maybe through Google Drive, for instance.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the in-depth feedback!

Can you develop what you mean by "not opening"? Sending the game through google drive would have the same result as they are the same files

Submitted

I'm honestly not sure why this is happening, but when I open the executable, it shows that the file is loading to open normally (but there's still no screen).

Then it simply doesnā€™t open. I checked the task manager, and it's running, but nothing appears. I've tried restarting my computer, closing and reopening the game from the task manager, and even running it as an administrator, but nothing has worked.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this?

Developer(+1)

Honestly it's the first time I hear of this issue :/

In the .zip there's two files, be sure that they stay together in the same folder (.pck = resources, the .exe needs it)

Submitted(+1)

Iā€™ve tried all of those :/ I donā€™t understand why it didnā€™t work.

However, I believe it might be something with my computer, not the game itself. Again, congratulations on the great work youā€™re doing!

Very cool game thematically, but i found it really hard! Maybe im just not very good, but I think the speed could be reduced somewhat make the game more forgiving?

Developer

thanks for the Feedback! Yeah its quite hard… but its possible ;D

I likes your Game as well!!

Super art and sounds and music very good all different stages through the game. The game itself is very difficult I couldn't beat the boss. What would have been better is a bit more balancing as also maybe don't do the make the potions yourself cause it was a bit annoying to move my hand to my mouse and back. Overall it's a solid good game with a lot of good potential.

Developer(+1)

thank you!

Submitted(+2)

Great art and sound ! The player's speed makes the game kinda difficult to play (maybe it's because i haven't found how to disable it), but i think it has some potential to be really satisfying to play x)

But the game has great ideas, congrats !

Developer

Thank you very much for the Feedback! :) Im glad you like my art and music.

I also liked the Idea to craft your own Power-ups, this is an idea of Aktoo.  Did you try to find the easter egg? :D

Submitted(+1)

I'll try to find it !

Developer(+1)

Ill try your Game now! i already saw the Sprite Art in discord I think!

We made it!! :D
