A truly stellar entry for this jam. Iām amazed by the amount of content in this game, thereās some clever level design and so much of it. I noticed there are occasions when the characterās sprite is invisible after death, possibly due to the blinking damage animation. I also found it frustrating at times when I pressed āRā accidentally instead of āEā, some separation between those controls would have been appreciated. Lovely work, keep them coming!
Great work. Really enjoyed the overall idea of having to balance and maintain shells. Various times i was juggling a float shell and a death shell and that was a very challenging and interesting dynamic to take on.
Nice work!
The level design got a bit repetitive at times, but the experience was overall impressive for a game jam! I liked the music and the graphics and mechanics were great! Keep up the good work!
Awesome game! I really loved the level design and all the mechanics in each level. The art is so good as well as the music! It didn't really use the theme "transformation" but it was overall really fun to play. It definitely has so much potential!
Really great game! Great art and well-crafted levels and puzzles. I love the different mechanics and the twists the game takes on them, like the spikes being added to the moving bubble platforms, using the water geyser jars on the moving platforms, or having to swap between the different pick-ups. The game and puzzles felt very intuitive and I don't think it was ever unclear of what I needed to do outside of solving a puzzle. The checkpoints were pretty forgiving, which is good. One small complaint is that having the grab key (E) right next to the restart key (R) had me restarting from a checkpoint by accident a few times because I pressed R by mistake instead of E.
I saw that your team is considering expanding this for a Steam release. Even as I was playing, I was thinking this game could easily be made into a full game. Really solid entry here!
Gameplay? I had fun everytime I play this Music? great Art? Awesome Theme? I donāt know what did You guys implement in here Originality? a platformer, but even better Is the graphics 1 bit? Of course it is
and by the way if You do end up releasing it to steam, Iāll make sure to check it out
I have so many good things to say about this beautifully polished piece of software...
Not sure about the theme, though. Very Nice job!
I hope it gets one of the top spots! <3
Question: are you a team of *local* friends with some controllers?
I am reeeeally looking for someone with friends to test and rate my game, as it is a local multiplayer game.
Yes, not a really clever idea to make a local multiplayer game for a jam , but that was what I was feeling like doing. haha
Hello, thank you for your review! Currently I don't, however as a recommendation I'd recommend setting up Parsec and asking people in the discord to do some Parsec sections with you or other people in the team so they can get to play the game.
nice idea. Thank you ^^
Hello everyone, thank you for your lovely feedback! We're glad that everyone seems to really like this game! There has been talks for awhile in our team about potentially turning this from a small game jam entry into a full-blown STEAM RELEASE! With more levels, shells, interactions, and a story mode upon other features! It'll also most likely be a free game just like this jam entry!
While it isn't 100% confirmed if all of us will actually go through with it, there's still a more than good chance it may be happening. We would love to see how interested people would be in this idea!
I'd say this is a very creative idea. Nice game.
It's a very nice game. The gameplay, the music, the art -- it's all very complementary. This is a fantastic submission.
Nice game! The gameplay was very well done in terms of implementation as well as inventive level design. The artstile is amazing (I mean, look at all those little animations!) and the music and sfx fit very well. I enjoyed playing it very much :). However, Iām not entirely sure where the connection to the transformation theme was tbh.
Hello, thank you for your review! Regarding the theming, Hermit Crabs sometimes change their shells as they see fit and we were thinking of the game as more-so being a āWardrobe Transformationā. While it could have been better communicated we focused more on the game polish as a sort of trade-off.
this game was really really solid, i enjoyed it thoroughly. the final puzzle was a perfect culmination of everything the player has learned, it was incredibly done. i really liked this one!
Very fun puzzle platformer!
I really like how you managed to explore every ability with a pretty amazingly balanced difficulty progression. Art style and music are great too, but the level design in just incredible and combines everything together (tried to make a pun about the final puzzle).
Hey matte! Here the composer :3 thank you so much for your kind words about the game, i'm glad you enjoyed it! I also liked how the level design was made and how the last level is a mix bettween everything you have learned, it feels like a challenge but familiar at the same time.
I see that you fixed the slippery bug haha, The game is very cute and the mechanics are engaging, I like the idea of being a crab and using abilities as the crab to finish the level, also the small details like bubbles floating around really sell the environment.
Super cute game you all! Art is so clean, music is catchy and the gameplay is fun, too!
Hey toko roko! Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
It's a really nice game, it has it's charms, and maybe some oversights.
First I'd like to mention that I was fighting the control scheme. The E button and R button are right next to each other, and I ended up restarting too many times because of it. Secondly, having to restart simply because I can't tell the future isn't what I call great game design, as these levels do take time to complete and I end up having to do the same stuff over and over again. There wasn't really much to the enemies, I imagine setting falling enemy traps and utilizing the enemies better could make up for that.
Now on to what the game did right. Firstly, the level design, taking simple mechanics and coming up with creative ways to use them is by far the greatest aspect of this game. By exploring these different ideas, you communicate and engage with players and the players feel smart and fulfilled that they discovered something new about things they are familiar with. I also personally really like the extra details like the bubbles, fish and the level decorations in closed off areas. It makes the game feel more alive, and engaging. I also think the challenges and difficulty was extremely well put together, I enjoyed the challenges and the game didn't feel like it was too difficult to get through.
Overall, great game and despite these few, tiny flaws, it's a hidden gem!
I've completed the game and I can say that this game is pretty challenging and really testing your patience! Nevertheless, it's a fun and engaging experience! plus, the music is pretty dope!!
Hello, thank you for the kind words! There was a bug that was causing some slipper-iness to the controls making the game much harder than it actually is! Anyways, thank again for reviewing our game!
Helloo!! Here the music composer of the game, thanks for your kind words about the game and the music. I just finished it too and took me some deaths to finish the last level haha but when you do it it's a good feeling :3
Cute game, but the controls are slippery and it makes some sections really painful
Hello, thank you for your feedback. Due to an oversight the movement had some slipperiness to it and the game was just naturally not as responsive feeling. It is now fixed and responsive so I encourage you to try it again!
The controls seemed to be lagging. It's quite hard to reach the platforms due to the sliding when moving back and forth.
This issue is now currently fixed! Game controls are finally crisp after fixing a bug! Hopefully you could re-take a look!
