How does your game represent Mode?
Blocks for Babies contains 2 playstyles in one, the titular Baby Mode and the hidden surprise mode that's revealed soon after starting. These are not only distinct modes in gameplay, but avenues for the player to channel completely different attitudes. It's time to go Baby Mode.

This is absurd. Absolutely absurd, both the idea for the game and how amazingly you executed it. Your take on tetris alone was a job well done, but the secrete other mode truly took this experience to the next level. Everything from the animated dancing kid, to the faces on the blocks and everything that occurs in the, ?????, other realm, is truly fantastic. The polish, creativity, humor and fun in this game is superb. Incredible job!

Developer

Thank you so much for these incredibly kind words :) I'm so glad you enjoyed!

Awesome!! Very creative idea, should be proud of this! Switching between modes for the first time made me laugh a lot lol. Also I love the cover art for the game :]

Developer

Thank you so much! I've loved seeing people react that way to the transition lol, that was one of my favorite parts to develop

Its like Tetris and (Spoiler) Doom had a love child. Me and my family will be playing for generations. Thank you.

As a Tetris enjoyer this was very fun, I wish there was a bit more of a reason to actually go to the annihilate mode instead of just playing Tetris until you get to the boss. Also hard drop still leaves some time to move the blocks after pressing hard drop which made me mess up block placement multiple times. Would love to see this as a more fleshed out arcade game on steam.

Finally a Tetris game I can be good at. This was a wonderful entry the mode theming was well implemented with the two blends of genres in this game. The way the boss fight works is really cool too. Nice work on this game.

This was a fun title! The twist made for a nice contrast in gameplay, and I thought the graphics fit each style well. The only critique I have is that sometimes the block rotation could feel a bit finnicky, but I still think this game has a lot of charm. Great job, and I'm stoked to see another game with a hybrid Tetris mechanic. Way to go!

Maan, that game with flipping fun ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)

The boss fight caught me off guard (in a good way). From A to B, no complaints just pure fun .

Congrats on your submission!

I read the controls before and saw space was crossed out, thought it was taken out last minute or something. Took me soo long to realise I had to press it to enter the annihilate mode. Really original take here, well done!

Thanks so much!

Really cool game, fellow tetris-dev! :D
It took me a while to realise you don't actually get points, and you only go to the next level by "losing" tetris and winning the "secret" afterwards.
Really cool and well made, but it's a bit of a shame that there aren't any scores. I realised that there's no reason to even go to the regular doom-mode, just collect ammo, and once you've got enough, the most efficient thing is to just lose tetris quickly and jump straight to the bossfight.
Nonetheless, superb game!

Was defiantly not expecting that twist lol. Unique game and I really like the theme and artstyle. Great work!

Haha super cool game, I think I this is the game I've spent the most time on this jam. Super cool I love being able to go into 3d mode anytime to clear blocks and things that are in the way. Only criticism is that the boss kinda feels the same/ it doesn't seem to scale with the game so I could easily clear him so there could technically be no end since he doesn't scale. I would love to see new bosses or the scaling boss. Other than that Tetris feels good and faithful, the combat section whereas a bit easy feels well integrated. Really liked the game! Well done!

What a cute little irony-based game. It was fun to play and showed a ton of promise. The balance of difficulty over time leaves something to be desired, but the game runs pretty great.

This game was a lot of fun! It caught me by surprise many times and made me giggle quite a few of them! Even when I said I was done, I ended up playing a couple more rounds lol. It catches you by surprise how fun it is. Good Job!

I was not expecting to see doom and tetris mixed together but here we are…

I got say it works way better than I would have imagined.

Great concept, love the interconnection between block puzzle and shooter. Being able to use spare ammo to fix block layouts after wrecking havoc on corrupted blocks is honestly genius. Corrupting blocks also change stacking dynamics since you can reliably have some areas always filled until you pew pew them away, at the peril of having too many corrupted blocks stack up and mess up your stacking. There's a ton you can think about at any given moment. Super fun.

A few notes of feedback I'd give: giving an ammo a cap would probably help a lot. Near the 2.5x speed phases I'm realizing I have 150+ bullets stocked up even after the block boss and that I can stack until I get around 200+ bullets, use 30 on the boss, and hard drop spam after I get 200+ again to retrigger the boss. The game's definitely the most fun when you are forced to use ammo to help with your puzzle clearing, so discouraging players from reaching a game over state on the block puzzle would be best.

but yeah this one's a whole lotta fun. good job 👍

Thank you so much for your response! Absolutely a great point on the cap, so happy to hear you enjoyed! :)

tetris with guns finally exists. Though after playing for a while, I realized the boss couldn’t kill. A bit disappointed but looks great

Developer(+1)

Yeah, we unfortunately couldn't get the game over state working due to a last minute bug, very sorry about that. Happy to hear you liked it otherwise, thanks for playing!

LOOOOOOOOL god that twist had me dying! great job guys

Developer(+1)
