Love the vibes here! Nice game (with voice acting too?!)

Developer(+1)

Yess!!! There was originally 27 more lines of dialogue we recorded as well! but we didn't have time to add them, and the game would've felt bloated with them, haha.

Submitted

Voice acting was very cool too see! The cliffside setting was very beautiful and the art came together really well. I got lost pretty easy and the isometric platforming was hard to read at times, but really clean presentation overall!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the art style and the atmosphere. At first I thought it would be a walking simulator but the slow introduction of puzzle and enemy mechanics was really well handled. I was also worried about the movement because of the isometric camera angle but it was very intuitive and I never accidentally fell off the platforms

Developer

HA you are better then me then at our teams game then! I literally rarely beat the whole game without falling off once or twice. Thank you so much for the comment btw!

The vibes are great and the ghosts are awesome and spooky. I love the levels; when I'm panicking and trying to find the way to go and hoping it's right, and then it all works out, that's nice. But I couldn't get past the level with the two gates in a row. There were just too many ghosts, and every way I tried to double back and juke them didn't work. I just watched the vod linked below to see if there was a trick I didn't get, and the ghosts appeared to be moving way faster on my computer, making the level impossible. I wonder if your ghost movement is dependent on frame rate or something.

Developer(+1)

yesss! unfortunately they are frame rate dependent :( i have a setup for them to not be framerate dependent and everything, and then i just got so carried away in the game dev that i literally forgot to implement it, and only remembered AFTER i submitted it and the submissions closed. Good catch though, but eh. the perils of game jam games, stuff gets forgotten about unfortunately.

Great atmosphere. I loved the storytelling through the voice records.

Here's a vod of me playing your game: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2372490353?t=00h14m39s

Developer(+1)

yesss!!! i was there when you did it! it was really cool that you streamed a bunch of games!

Submitted(+1)

I like the atmosphere a lot and props for having voice acting too!

Submitted(+1)

Very charming, love the voice logs and the platformer puzzles. My only wish is to some sort of visual passthrough shader so you can see where you are behind things!

Developer(+1)

I 100% agree! it was originally on the list to make one, but it got scrapped due to time unfortunately. we ended up knocking out a couple of walls to TRY to make it easier to see. but yes a more fleshed out version would definitely have the see through shader.

Submitted(+1)

I like the trees a lot too! I felt the Half Life and suffered Full Life Consequences. I think I was killed by everything that can kill you at least once. Ah!

Developer(+1)

Literally part of our plan for a more fleshed out full version was like "Half life meets stranger things" but in the vibe of like, someone deeply underqualified is suddenly put in a position where they have to save the world! So I am glad you mentioned half life! good to know a game jam version of the game gave off those vibes!

I really liked the artstyle, the handrawn looking trees were awesome! Felt like i was actually high up

Developer(+1)

Thank you! honestly I love the hand draw trees! our artist drew those, and we just did the classic (project on a pane, and then rotate it 90 degrees) and I LOVE the look of it. I honestly am gonna keep using this style going forward.

i was juking those ghosts left and right... GREAT WORK

Developer(+1)

absolutely juking them! I originally wanted to add some that were harder to avoid! (I wanted to do a green eyed one that like,,, teleported 20feet in front of you every few seconds, just to mean you could SUDDENLY have a ghost directly in front of you) but there was no time to make that one not SUPER OP. and just ran out of time in general! Thank you so much for playing the game though!

Submitted

definitely keep working on this cause this has the potential to be a sleeper hit!!

Developer(+1)

omg! thank you so much! Our team literally talked about the game yesterday, and maybe starting it from scratch (its really poorly optimized right now) and actually making a like... 6 hour story game out of it. or something. idk. just something to really practice our story telling and game making.

Submitted(+1)

if you ever need help with writing or anything im always down to help! im wishing the best for your team! :)

Developer(+1)

i might reach out to you on that actually! Writing is one of the areas our team struggled a bit in!

Submitted(+1)

Those creatures look really cool and move in really interesting ways. Voice acting is always nice to hear, too. Good stuff! You should try and embellish your game's page, might give you some more plays. It deserves it!

Developer(+1)

Super smart Idea to embellish the page a bit more, I added a quick trailer, and some screenshots, just to help it out a little big! Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

The art style here is great! There's even voice acting!

Developer(+1)

We had SO many more lines of dialogue also. we maybe were a bit too eager, and had i think 27+ line recorded. Might save that for future updates though. haha

Submitted

If you're planning on entering the Brackey's Jam, I'll be so psyched to see what you come up with there! Feel free to reach out if you ever want to collab

VOICE ACTED!!!!!!

Developer

Yesss!!!!! We had another 27 lines of dialogue recorded for the main character also. But had to cut all of them due to time. :(

Submitted(+1)

Really loved the atmosphere in this! Huge fan the voice logs!

Developer

Thank you so much! They were so much fun to do! We all gotta snag one or two of we wanted in our crew for the voice! I'm excited to check your game out tomorrow also!

Submitted(+1)

Love the game! Music is very subtle, I like

Developer

Thank you! I used some of the links to copyright free stuff that were posted in dunkey's discord! The community really helped me a find music and SFX that was legal to use!

Great atmosphere and tone in this game. Really captures the unnerving feeling of traversing this power plant full of ghosts!

Developer

Thank you so much! The atmosphere was the main thing that was attempted to nail down! And for the time we had I am happy with the results of it!

Submitted(+1)

Is this a horror game? Maybe. Did I almost shit myself and immediately fall to my death? ...Maybe.

Developer

Omg. I literally almost scared myself game testing it a couple times. It's not suppose to be horror. But it is suppose to be like... Weirdly silent and unnerving, or something. Honestly I'm not fully certain of the genre. Thank you by the way for commenting!

Somebody cooked in the level editor, good atmosphere. Character controller's a bit janky for some of these narrow ledges.

Developer

Lol! Yeeeaaaa the controls, it turns out were not an ideal setup for this type of platforming. It's very good to know for future top downs I make though.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I like the aesthetic design of the levels, and the voice logs are fun to find! The main character is really hard to control though

Developer(+1)

This seems to be the main complaint actually! I always have liked the "hades you move at a 45 degree angle" thing. But maybe for a platformer it's not the vibe. Thank you for the feedback!
