How does your game represent "Power"?
Trencher is, in essence, about taking electrical power from a source at one house and diving deep underground to extend it and bring it to another house. A large emphasis is also placed on building and maintaining powered infrastructure, like lighting and automated turrets. This is done by making the majority of the play area very dark, encouraging lighting. Two enemy types also spawn underground and can destroy what you've built. They are prevented from spawning in areas where you've placed lighting and turrets can shoot at them to defend your progress.

Extremely impressive, there are so many different mechanics and to do all of it apart from music on your own blows my mind, great job!

Developer

Thanks! I put a lot of effort into it so I’m glad it shows

Fun and surprisingly complex for a jam game, but I think the tutorial is very well made and how there is a hub world where you can play smaller or bigger levels. lot of fun here

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback. I tried to add as much content as I could while also being able to balance most of it and make it fun

Cool game, I keep killing myself with bombs and in other silly ways. I used what I thoght was a conduit and it exploded in my face and killed me. But repeated death is part of a good learning curve and it was a fun 20-30 minuets. Reminded me of learning how to play deeprock galactic. Glad I tried this one out.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I really tried to balance the difficulty so you'd die often enough but still want to come back and try again

This is a pretty cool game and I can tell there was a lot of work put in during the jam, impressive work! There are a few things that are a little frustrating. For instance the camera moves very slow and sometimes will mess up Condit placing as its still catching up when I'm building. The movement is a little floaty as well. With some tightened up controls and some more mechanics this could be a really awesome game. Great work overall.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the movement is a little too floaty. It felt better in the Unity Editor but for some reason the physics change after building the game. I couldn't test as thoroughly for the build because I'd have to rebuild anytime I made a change to the values. When I can spend more time on it, it should be a simple fix.

Ah yea, I have had that problem before too its annoying. Still good work!

Really ambitious game for a game jam. First I was afraid this would be a reading-type game, but after the tutorial the game really started to spread it's wings.  Some sort of options where you can adjust the sound would have been good. This would be a great game to play while listening to podcasts etc. Great work!

Thanks for playing! I was going to add something like a mute button but ran out of time doing polish for the gameplay. If you do keep playing, it should save your progress in the browser so you don't have to start over every time

Great delivery of your games mechanics here, I enjoyed the vibe and once I took the time to read the signs and what not I took off running and it was pretty fun

Developer

Thanks for playing! I looked for better ways to introduce mechanics instead of the signs but didn't have enough time  since the main mechanics required a lot of polish.

This is very impressive for a week long game jam! The presentation is really nice and reminds me of old games like Dig Dug and Motherload. It took me a while to get to grips with the controls but once I understood what each of the tools did I was able to complete the first level. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It was my first time really getting into the lighting system so I wanted to put a lot of the game's focus on it.  I agree the controls take some getting used to, and I probably would've expanded the tutorial a bit or introduced mechanics more slowly if this were a full release.

Really nice game, didnt get tons done as its a little slow to start and theres 800 submission to test, but really enjoyed what I played, definitely the sort of thing I would play more of. good job.

Developer

Thanks, I appreciate it. Once the jam's over I'll probably do some balancing work to see if I can make it more fast-paced. I think increasing the ore spawn rate and the gun firing rate could help.

Lovely game! This is definitely something I'll have to sit down with later and invest more time into. I was able to complete 3 levels, but the game seems to be pretty slow paced which can lead to monotonous gameplay. But I love the amount of polish that was able to be put into a game in such short time. Especially the music!!

Developer

Thank you for playing! If I had more time, I'd definitely add more content in the levels and maybe some more creative upgrades to make sure the gameplay stays interesting over a longer period of time.
