How does your game represent "Power"?
Orblorgos gives the player the ultimate power: the power to create new, unimagined levels. But it doesn't end there- once a level is published, anyone can creatively command of their orblorgos to beat levels in record times.

Wow, level editor is super impressive and cool, great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to play!

The browser build IS pretty rough, but I'm glad it's there to get the gist of the game before downloading. Love the inclusion of a level editor, the mechanics all flow together pretty well though it does take a second to get used to how things control and navigation is a slight bit wonkier than anticipated.

It does all work super well together once you get into the groove of things though. Very fun concept with great execution! I didn't run into any game breaking bugs during my play through :)

Developer(+1)

glad you liked it and downloaded the build!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing!

Yeah for chrome the game is unplayable for me, but somehow microsoft edge works great? People have quite varied experiences with the web build, which is why we included the note on the page :')

Submitted

There are some bugs, but the game is so funny and unique! The number of different levels is impressive and level maker is insane! And of course ORBLORGOS are super cute, I love them!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!

If you'd like please let us know what specific bugs you encountered!

Submitted(+1)

Kinda insane actually! Well done

Developer

Thank you so much!

This game is pretty fun! gives me a lot of vibes of kirby mass attack, I def noticed a few slowdown issues on the levels with a lot of dudes, but also I'm so impressed that you made all of this with level editing capabilities in this short of a time! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it!
Slow downs on the web version or the download? I think bowser's big bean burrito is slow for sure

Submitted(+1)

web version was what I tried, and yeah it was on bowser's big bean burrito that I noticed it haha

What an interesting mechanic to have the orblorgos be a movement factor and a weapon. It definitely adds a complex strategy element while you're also figuring out how to navigate the level. I know your glass ball is supposed to be heavy, but I found the controls to be a little difficult when maneuvering around. But once I gained momentum, it was definitely fun to wing the little guys around. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks!

Really cool concept! It's a bit counterintuitive and too technical, but I can see it getting into a unique puzzle platform with some polish and QOL changes. Like not letting you turn your last orblorgo into a sword, or making "r" restart not from the start but from respawn. But that's all minor :)

Also, nice sound work! And a round of applause for the editor - that's a lot of work for a jam! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, we added respawns later and the 'r' key ended up starting everything over again!
We debated a lot about letting you turn all your orblorgos into a sword... I may be kind of evil but I love watching people do that

Submitted

Yep, I kinda like the harshness too, especially given that levels are relatively short. But if you'd plan to turn it into a game for a broad audience - I think it will become a big hindrance.

Developer

Good point! Def will consider it if we do a full game

Submitted(+1)

I love the little Orblorgo dudes, they make for an interesting physics based movement, which is very fitting for this game that seems like a love letter to LittleBigPlanet! The level editor itself very nice and super intuitive. Unfortunately, I've played the web build only so I can't share with others what I made :c. That aside, this is super impressive project, I love it!

Developer

You can still share your level even though you used the web! Post it here: https://lemmy.world/c/orblorgo
Windows users will see your level

Submitted (1 edit)

That's cool, but the Copy to Clipboard button doesn't seem to work for me :c. I am using a Firefox browser.

Developer

You're right it doesn't work in browser!!! Let me try to get a hot fix for you....

Developer (1 edit)

Unfortunately your currently saved level is inaccessible from another website, so you would have to make a new level from scratch.

Here's an updated version where the copy to clipboard button works! (hopefully) https://www.oflatt.com/orblorgo/

Edit: Idk if it's allowed for people to play the new version even to make levels, jam rules

Submitted

I downloaded an executable (jam rules) and (very) roughly recreated the level from the browser. It plays with the orblorgo physhics launch and you can find it here: https://lemmy.world/post/25269797

Developer(+1)

hell yeah, great level

thanks for being the first to upload a community level!

Submitted(+1)

Unique game with some cool mechanics. The momentum launching was a lotta fun if you did it right.  Some levels were defiantly a lot harder than others. Its really impressive there was a level editor too! Great work.

Developer

Thanks!

Very cool entry about sacrifice and momentum lol. Flying through the levels and launching your little guys was pretty fun, I gave myself a million dudes in the level editor and made the longest sword known to man. Very cool project!

Developer (1 edit)

1 million orblorgo level!?? share the json!
Or post publicly: https://lemmy.world/c/orblorgo

Submitted

Loved the game. Nice to know some  other people also use Love2D!

Developer

love2d is pretty great!

Submitted(+1)

"A sacrifice was made. Momentum was gained" cracked me up for some reason haha. Speaking of momentum, it felt good and was probably my favourite part of the game. Nice stuff!

Developer

Thanks! We got really chatty with the editor's text feature haha

Submitted

HAHA no way it have level editor, that was so fun guys, i like the game! So powerful ;]

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I loved just plug it.

Post here if you end up using the level editor to make something!

Submitted

Hooked by level 2, and you've really outdone yourselves on the community aspect here.

Developer

Thanks! Still hoping someone will post a new level! They get loaded automatically from https://lemmy.world/c/orblorgo into the game

Submitted

Really cool concept and good execution. Got a bit stuck on the first level though, after pressing R there was an invisible wall at the checkpoint that I couldn't get past. Reloaded the level and it was fine though. Well done with the game!

Developer

Ahh yes the checkpoints are a bit buggy :') Glad you persevered! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I can't believe this game has a level editor for a game jam, that's actually insane.  Desribing it as"Kill yoshi the game" probably makes this one of the more unhinged games I've played, both in concept, scope, and gameplay lmao. Great work!

Developer

Glad you liked it! Still waiting on someone to use the level editor and post a JSON level!!!

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

You fit a crazy amount of content into this game for a week!! Gameplay is fun and I love how quickly things get out of control. Was sacrificing the Orblorgs inspired by getting rid of Yoshi in Super Mario World?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words!

Not originally, but once we had the original idea in place we did refer to it as 'Abandon Yoshi The Game' xD Funny you noticed that as well!

Loved your game as well :)

Submitted

Innovative and goofy idea! I found the tutorial a little difficult, but the sandbox mode was really fun :)

Developer

Glad you enjoyed
If you made a level you should share it here or at https://lemmy.world/c/orblorgo ! Would love to play it even if it's not done

Submitted

these goobers are SOOOOO cute, i love them so much :>
super cool being able to make levels n cool unique control scheme!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words!
