Not bad at all! My favorite part of the game was the art, although it was hard to see. A game made for ants! Interesting concept, I wish it had a little bit more innovation. Holding down m1 and moving around in circles got tiresome...

Submitted(+1)

i like the concept. its pretty thrilling, the art is pretty good. good job.

I really wanted to see what happens at the wave 30, but i just can't handle the amount of enemies and their health at waves 10+. Still pretty sure i have the highest wave reached here, hehe. I really dig the pixel art, RISK/reward felt great, although theres much more risk than reward. Our games are very similar, you are right! It's like a ROR1 to ROR2 relationship, lol. Great game!

Developer

Yeah I think the balance is one of the worst parts of this game, I've already rebalanced the game, but can't do anything about it for now. And RoR is a pretty big inspiration for this game, though one look at the items is probably enough to see that lol. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Fun game, I really enjoy wave based shooter games so I had a good time :) I think some additional weapon types/playstyles could help - it'd make it a bit more vampire survivors-y but that's not necessarily a bad thing, part of the fun is trying new things out. The charge attack felt pretty good and I liked having a dash too, though it was kind of hard to read the text on what I was picking up while also trying to dodge enemies. I just assumed I got stronger and left it at that.  Overall though from the gameplay to the sound design, nice job!

Developer

Yeah, I also had problems with the item display, kind of hard to read that, understand it, and dodge all the enemies at the same time. No clue how to fix it, if the item took too long to display then it would take too long to get through all the items, but too short and it just doesn't give enough time. In the end I also adopted the strategy of just assuming I was getting stronger. Thanks for playing though!

Submitted(+1)

Maybe like a popup the player can click out of on their own time?  That way you have time to read if you want or you can just spam out if you're familiar with the items already. Anyhow, good luck!

Fun game! The risk/reward dynamic going on here makes the game a thrilling experience. The music is also really nice.

Good job!

I really like how the games systems encourage you to play up close and risky, yet requires you to sacrifice health to progress. This makes decided when to sacrifice an interesting choice!

I could definitely see playing a more fleshed out version of this game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I definitely want to flesh out the game more in the future myself, I just need to spend some time figuring that out. Thanks for playing!

This game is tough! I really like the dynamic of sacrificing your health for more power/progression!

This game is tons of fun and the action flows really well! I only wish the camera was zoomed in a bit more, it was kind of hard to follow the action at the start because of how small everything was! But still even with that in mind, I managed to have tons of fun! Well done!

Developer

Out of curiosity were you full screened? I feel like I never had problems with enemy sizes and such, but it's definitely something I'll have to look into. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing though!

Submitted

I had the same issue both fullscreen and windowed. Here's what the game looks like for me:

Developer

So every pixel on your screen was equal to one pixel in the game? It should automatically set itself to 2 pixels on the screen to 1 pixel in game when you full screen.

Submitted

In fullscreen it looks exactly the same, only the black border is even greater. If it helps, I'm using a Firefox browser with Windows 10, hardware acceleration on, opengl rendering. The game reports nothing unusual. If you are using Godot 4.3, try disabling SharedArrayBufferSupport, it may help!

Developer

Does Godot 4.3 not need SharedArrayBufferSupport anymore? And yeah, that would explain the problem, the game is supposed to be double the size on the screen as that, but it's not for some reason.

Submitted(+1)

Nope! Disabling sharedarray also let you embed your game into the itch window instead of popping it out in a separate window for firefox users.

Developer

Oh alright, just disabled it then. I guess I'll add in a separate warning just in case for people to download the game if they full screen problems. Thanks!

Submitted

You're welcome, that did indeed fix the problem for me!

Developer

Haha, now it's too big

Dig the risk of rain vibes :) And the right click attack makes me feel especially powerful

Developer

Thanks, I find it hard to resist putting in a RoR style item system nowadays lol.

Loved this, every design decision here feels great to me. Banger soundtrack and an amazing sfx and game feel. I'm gonna play more when I have time, and would love to see this get taken further. The risk of choosing to sac 61 health when you have 63, it's just really good decision making for the player.

Developer

I definitely want to take this idea further, but first I want to tinker around with the design, I feel there was a lot I didn't get to touch on. Thanks for playing though!

When the enemies charged at me it gave me the same unsettling vibes of when the yeti shows up in ski free lol Nice execution, well done!

This had some fun gameplay, I really enjoyed it. Using health as the only currency is an interesting design choice.

i loved the theme. the presentation is out of this world. this game has me hooked. i just wished the bad guys moved a little slower but that just might be a skill issue on my part.

Developer(+1)

Yeah the goblin's speed was difficult to get right, because if they move too fast then you can't escape, and if they move too slowly then they're no threat at all. But I'm glad you enjoyed my game anyway, thanks for playing!

I regret to say HUMANITY HAS BEEN LOST! Fun and challenging, feels very smooth and plays well. I felt like I was missing something with regards to how to power up my character,  felt like I stayed pretty weak and mostly kited enemies around (even with charge and dash attack) ~ and levelling up with percentages of health was a bit slow to regen. I think still in its current state it's nicely done and could definitely be expanded!

Developer

Yeah, the balancing is definitely one of the weakest parts of this game, as I didn't have enough time so in the end I kind of just did an educated guess for it. And I definitely want to expand on this idea in the future. Thanks for playing!

Great visuals, good music and sound effects. Character felt a bit weak even when trying to min-max health gain for as many upgrades as possible.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I do agree with that, in the end I was so busy with making the game that I didn't get a whole lot of time to play with balancing, so I just did the best I could. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Solid little VS clone.  I felt like my damage never got crazy powerful, so it was more just running around and outlasting, but that might've been RNG.  Really liked the music.

This game was a LOT of fun. The game loop is easy to understand but engaging, with a noticeable increase in strength, various enemy types, etc. I got to level 29, and I think my only gripe would be the leveling up requires percentage instead of base health which reallllly slows down progress after just a couple level ups. Keeping it a little more linear would probably help it stay engaging in the higher levels. Amazing game!

Submitted(+1)

Fun stuff! Charging feels awesome, and i really like i could use it as a "second" dash almost :D! I think the game would have benefitted with bigger everything, but super good job! (awesome music too)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Fun game, charge attacks feels so sick when you hit it. Only feedback is I wish the characters were a little bigger. The music is a real jam I quite enjoy it!
