Really cool! Maybe make fighting multiple enemies a little easier though. Or I could just be bad at games haha!

Submitted

I agree, I had the same issue.

Very fun and the art style is amazing! Maybe some more choreograph on enemy attacks to make parrying a bit easier, or I might just need to git good

Submitted

A polished platformer! Enemies meet their own demise when you parry them. Very satisfying.

Excellent idea, stunning pixel art. I'd have increased the parry window/hitbox, increased jump height, and slowed down gravity a tad personally. Could totally see this being a solid full release, good work!

Submitted

Animations and sound were awesome!! I love the general idea of CelesteXSekiro, super interesting. I think i died way more to slipping off ledges than to swords tho, a little lenience like coyote time could be helpful. I still had a really fun time with it!

Amazing platformer!

Love the art style, LOVE the unique game play. Personally feel like the parry window needs another tenth of a second on the parry jumping portions.

Submitted

Really like the minimalist pixel art, the animations especially are simple but fluid. Platforming with the parry is pretty hard but satisfying when you pull it off.

The ultimate offense is a good defense or sum. Really nice art and a great idea.

Submitted

just my type of game! Hitting a parry is so satisfying and I definitely will take inspiration of how the parry works when I can update my game post jam. great job!

Hard but fun!

It's difficult, but so rewarding, loved it! Reminds me why I suck at pvp in dark souls.

Submitted

Tough, but nice entry! The movement is slippery and the parrying is hard to time properly. I had to give up when it came to parrying+jumping on the spike in level 3 or 4.

took me a minute to get the hang of pogo parrying to bounce off the spikes, but its super fun, handles well, and looks amazing

Glad you liked it!

I absolutely adore this concept and the pixel art. Very polished game, but as I'm useless with my left hand, I find controlling platformers near impossible with wasd and space. Arrow keys and z,x would have been a nice option. Other than a non-ambidextrous friendly control layout, fantastic entry!

Developer(+1)

We'll surely update the game's control scheme to make it easier for everyone! I'm thinking maybe we'll just add 4 buttons for parrying in 4 directions instead of combining them. With enough support, we might even make this into a full game!

Love the style! Good level design too, I especially like that bit climbing with the arrows at the end. Having to hold down w took some getting used to, since I was trying to aim my mouse down at first. I'm a big fan of Hollow Knight, which also uses a lot of pogos, so this was a great experience.

Developer

Yesss the pogo mechanic was directly inspired from hollow knight. Glad you liked our game!

So stylish! So sharp!! I love the colors, and parrying little dudes off a cliff is great. But I'm struggling to parry the little spikes to get over big gaps! Either way, I'm more than happy to throw myself into them a few more times.

Thanks! we're glad you liked our game. Did you find the spike jumping unfairly hard or is it enough as a challenge?

Submitted

It's hard to tell!! I couldn't ever get good enough to actually make the jumps :sob:

this game is so cool and pretty, especially the color palette! but i gotta say, the jump feels a bit off and is making it pretty frustrating. if/when movement gets tweaked a bit id love to come back to it!

EDIT: after the update it feels SO MUCH BETTER! good job!!

I agree, the game is challenging and the idea is unique, took me a moment to figure out when to parry and that you can do it in different direction. The jump could probably use faster acceleration upwards and stronger gravity going down to make it feel less floaty. Overall cool concept!

Submitted(+1)

you forgot to mention the part you were standing behind me and making fun of me for failing to parry the first guy

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Anything specific about the jump you found a bit unsatisfying?

Submitted

i agree with what yan said, we're mutuals and he knows his stuff!

Developer(+1)

Heya, we just updated the game's movement mechanics and tweaked the levels a bit. Check it out!

Submitted

thats awesome!! it feels SO much better!!

Submitted

Damn this was cool! I like how hard it is, the levels are short enough that it's not all that frustrating to die a bunch learning spike jump timing. Last level took me a bit longer but it was by far the most fun! Would love more levels with increased complexity but still with short levels, it's really cool combining all the different elements together, well done

Thank you so much for playing!

Yeah we would love to expand this game more and are planning to make a full game after the jam and have garnered more feedback. We definitely see the potential of this gameplay and would love to create more boombastic levels for this game!
