How does your game represent "Power"?
Play from the perspective of the final boss who controls the dungeon, instead of the game protagonist tasked with clearing it. Summon an army to defend the fortress and revel in your evil reign, at least until the hero begins to level up…

Really interesting game and twist on a dungeon! There's a lot of cool ideas in here, the sprites are nice! I feel like the hero teleports around a bit in the boss fight which makes them tricky to hit...

I wish you could scrap or move or recycle objects and I wish you got a little more description on some of the items like the key's one-time use... It also was a bit of a bummer that the hero knew the direct path as I tried to set up some of the side rooms and they became utterly useless until I could buy a key. :P

Still, a really awesome idea and some really nice visuals, I think it's great!

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for your feedback :) Great next steps, I’ll definitely add in a delete option. I know it feels the hero’s a little too smart + moves strangely sometimes, I’ll continue to work on their movement to make it fairer, was definitely one of the trickier things to set up in this jam. Someone suggested showing a preview line of the hero's path to know where to focus your attention which I think will help. Thanks for playing!

Oh yes, I think a hero's path would be very useful information so you can plan accordingly! :D

Keep it up!

Really interessting Game Concept. Reminds me a bit of the First Dungeon Game.

Also a very nice way to simulate a boss fight. Very cool idea!

I saw this on oflatt's stream yesterday so I just played it. I love that it's from the mirrored perspective of being the actual dungeon. And not to mention how replayable it is. Great game I'd love to see a full release!

Developer

Thanks for letting me know my game was streamed! I just watched the vod and it put a big smile on my face. Awesome you came to check it out, thanks so much!

really fun being on the other end of things as the villain. I think some of the troops need to be buffed such as the magic dude cause he missed everytime for me but perhaps my strat is wrong. Really neat though I would like to see more, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!  They’re kinda bad in some circumstances but some people rely on an army of those spellcasters lol, I had actually nerfed them before release. I’ll carefully consider everyone’s perspective when rebalancing in future, thanks for the feedback!

At first run I relied on magic units too much but when a got engaged and started coping with heroes one guy just run out and threw a bomb, i was a shocked :D I really liked the concept, that was fun!

It reminded of a PSP game named "NO HEORES ALLOWED" these reversal roles always bring a smile to my face, great job!

Cool little game, it has just enough variety to make you want to experiment with different combinations!

This is a really addictive game for me. Our team also had this kind of idea and how tough it would be to make. I'm glad you did this so well. Also, I think I beat the game unintentionally... Nothing has been able to get through anymore lol

Developer

Wow!! Was the hero not using the bombs or did you manage to get that insane setup in spite of them?  I’m very impressed you cracked the game, thanks for playing so much of it!

The light and screen effects are awesome. Great job!

Cool idea, I like these kind of games, its well defined and plays without any issues.
Good job :D

A very fun and interesting idea really original game, definitely hate the hero with the bomb 😅

Great idea! I don't think I've played or seen something like it before. I had fun, I couldn't wait to see how well I could crush the hero. Good job all around!

That was really cool! I opened my mouth wide open when the hero first used a bomb to clear the room and destroyed all my units. I do wish I could see the path the hero will take before each round so I can make a better plan, I think locking the player to the grid would also make this more clear, otherwise it seems like they cut corners across the grid which threw me off at first and makes it harder to plan out.

Developer

And so another falls victim to the lil guy’s nukes lol, glad it surprised you!  I think he definitely takes some sharp corners avoiding enemies as the path is literally the fastest possible route, perhaps I can add a couple more wall obstacles to redirect his movement and keep him in some rooms a bit longer. Plus a path preview is a great idea!

Nice idea and well executed. Great game!

'Villmilious' is a lonesome one preferring to let rooms full of spikes to deal with intruders rather than pesky interns. Fun game!

Developer(+1)

How considerate of him sparing the life of his minions and letting the cold steel do the work instead.  Thank you for playing!

Nice game! Great variety of characters and therefore strategies you could apply. Was super shocked by the dude chucking a bomb into the room, clearing all my units, which was a great moment. Felt that the boss (“Bulgur The Cooked”, very nice being able to name the boss btw) was a bit weak but that may very well be my lack of skill. Great work overall!

Developer(+1)

Awesome villainous name - it suits him well!  There’s definitely considerations to make about balancing as it’s all a bit subjective, but as you say the boss usually has to step in after the bomb and by that point the hero is quite strong, probably I'll make the boss attacks hit a bit harder

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept, giving the boss character a classic boss-fight style attack pattern is a very nice touch, watching the hero dodge all your attacks is frustrating in a fun way. There's definitely a lot of strategy in which enemies you pick and how you place them. Incredible presentation all round!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I’m glad to hear that the boss fight came across that way – was definitely the vibe I was after
