How does your game represent "Power"?
"Measure once, cut twice." The player has to weigh the cost of their tools, substituting perfect information for fallible human memory in order to save power.

Bizarre game! Like a twisted version of Operation
This game is awesome! I saw people comparing it to a ds game, and I think it actually reminds me of the fossil cleaning minigame from Fossil Fighters, just... grosser (in a cool way). At least this game doesn't require me to blow into the mic so much I get light-headed lol.
I have to check that game out!! Thanks for the feedback.
Very interesting concept, I agree that this would have made a very neat DS game
This is the first meatball-type game. It totally feels like something I could have played on the DS! The funky but haunting/surreal music was my jam, it reminded me a little of the Binding of Isaac music, but a little less dramatic. The difficulty ramped up nicely with the additions of walls organs etc. Would love top see this developed further! Especially if attached to some story, where the things you are taking out gradually reveal secrets about the meatballs and the world we're in. Amazing work!
Wow, I never even thought of this as a DS title but it makes so much sense! Maybe one day I could try and port it to the old hardware haha. I really appreciate all the kind words!
another good game for the meatball genre
It's upsetting because I really, really know this has the potential to be a SUPER fun game, but the bugs with the laser sometimes not connecting properly or staying on after leaving the x-ray screen have messed up so many of my attempts that I had to step away for a second. The items under the meat also feel like their hit boxes might be a little too big or sensitive to the laser, as there were times where an item showed damaged despite there being a clear gap between the item's image and the edge of the meatball.
The presentation is fantastic, and it is both fun conceptually and interesting mechanically. Hoping you're willing/able to fix some of the bugs and fine tune the game play post jam, because I know once things get a little extra elbow grease this is going to be a game I love playing.
I really appreciate the clear feedback! The hitboxes are definitely wonky, and the laser paths can also be pretty unclear/unresponsive. I am totally working on a post-jam version with a lot of the bugs ironed out and smoother interactions. Thank you for playing!
Exciting! I am really looking forward to it :D
great game, this is something that I have not seen before at all
music is very good as it kept me feeling into the game
i got a bug where the laser pointer would continously fire after leaving the x-ray screen
Awesome idea, basically becomes a game of memory with the whole powercost to using Xray, very well exectuted and awesome style! Only complaint is that the laser shape sometimes didn't connect, eventhough it appeared to. Besides that though, very fun little game!
Cool idea, I could've sworn that I was performing surgery on actual meatballs and not human tissue, lol. Good music and well-defined gameplay, good work :D
Cool unique concept, was a lot of fun managing the power meter, but I dont know why I couldnt pick up the watch? Maybe I was being stupid lol
You probably ran into a hitbox issue! They're a liiitle wonky unfortunately. Glad you had fun despite that!
What an amazing and polished game! The comparisons to "Operation" are obvious, but this game made me quite nostalgic for another weirdly specific reason. (Don't worry, I've never done living meatball surgery in real life)
"NintendoLand" for the Wii U had a great minigame called "Yoshi's Fruit Cart" where you had to memorize the locations of fruit on the screen. The fruit would disappear, and you had to trace your path with the gamepad to pick up all the fruit without hitting bombs/obstacles along the way. Your game is sort of like a more fleshed out (pun hehe) version of that, and the similarities brought me right back to one of my favorite games from my teenage years.
TLDR: Meatballs gave me the warm fuzzies. Fantastic job! :)
I would love to see speedrunners get their hands on this game, I bet you could get really good at this with practice. Great presentation, the art and music compliment each other well and the gameplay was not something I'd played before! I only wish I knew what my quota and score were during rounds. Really well done, I enjoyed playing it!
this is incredible! i love that the game is sort of both an optimization problem and a precision game, and the ways in which you can play around with the organs and veins to make things riskier but much easier. the music was a perfect groove for this sort of methodical gameplay- i would absolutely play more of this game in the future.
Grr that was tough for me to beat! I struggle to come up with suggestions for this game because it seems very polished, but I have some qualms with how it plays. I found it necessary to use my free hand as a guide to make cuts because you have to memorize while cutting, so I would maybe make the x ray a meter that has limited uses instead of sharing the bar with the laser? Also this could easily be a web game if you do a web export for Godot so I would look into that, would really help to get more people to play. Great entry!
Wonderfully wacky art style, great work!
super solid! a hidden gem in this game jam. I love that you love meatballs this much
Dang, wish more people were finding this one! The operation-style gameplay is really neat, despite how touch it could sometimes be (it feels slightly more like a skill issue than a development flaw). The organs and meatball artwork is cool, sound effects are nice, overall a great game! I also want to mention that the line "measure once cut twice" is a fantastic tagline.
Thank you, I appreciate it! Was very proud of the tagline hehe. The hitboxes could definitely be tweaked to make things less touchy. The banana is heinous 😭😭
Oh yeah, there were a few times that I had to squint my eyes just a bit at the redded-out object since it was so close! This type of game isn't too intensive, so you could probably get away with doing precise collisions (I don't know what engine you use, but I use gamemaker, which has those) to make it as fair as possible.
Really cool, I like the concept a lot. Would be nice to be able to see how much power i have left tho
I appreciate it! The game doesn't communicate itself well, but there is actually a power bar on the right-hand side!
