I like this game! Graphics are good, Music is awesome, bosses are not too hard. I think you can add an attack warning, because attacks seem to be unpredictable. Also I think I found a bug: when I was going to the third boss room I stuck in the hall because of door

I LOVE THIS GAAMMMEEEEE. Played it from start to finish with a massive smile on my face, I honestly can't articulate enough just how much I loved literally everything about it. What an incredibly polished and stylish project, I'm finding it hard to keep my excitement in check even through text that's just how much I absolutely loved this game. Seriously phenomenal job to every single person involved, you all absolutely killed it
I think the bosses need to drop more coins. I got to the third boss with no items because there was not enough coins to buy anything. I also think the slot machines are rigged.
This is a fun game. The bosses are not too difficult and it controls really well. I especially like how there is low cooldown for dashing. The art is fantastic, both the pixel art and the watercolor art. My feedback on the gameplay is that the wheel doesn't add much to the boss fight. I got by just fine without buying any items.
There was a bug for me when I defeated the second boss. The game thought I had lost and the retry screen popped up. When I clicked retry, I was on the last boss.
this seems pretty much pro gambling lol. i had 200 gold after a few seconds on the slot machines and was able to purchase every card for the wheel right away. the art was wonderful. the gameplay fluid and entertaining. bosses had too much hp for my taste and the spinning mechanic was a bit boring to me. still very very good entry
Wow, I hit the jackpot on the second try at the slot machines! Not sure if it was just luck, haha.
The theme execution is spot on, and the visuals are incredibly captivating. There’s so much to explore, and you guys have clearly put in a ton of work.
One suggestion to consider: positioning the camera between the player and the boss to improve visibility and create a more engaging experience.
As for the attack system, I think something similar to The Binding of Isaac, with four or eight directional attacks and a bit of momentum, could be interesting to explore.
Like I said, the game is awesome and has a lot of potential. Keep it up!
Great art and love all teh customization and progression. Cool Game!!
Cute game! It has its flaws but overall it's an enjoyable experience, it has pretty much everything I would expect in a bullet hell game and that's all I need!
I only regret that the wheel didn't have as much impact on the game as I would have liked because the most interesting effects were activated when the bosses were already at low health.
Well done, I liked it a lot!
A very enjoyable game! But in my opinion, the bosses feel a bit too tanky. Since they have a set attack pattern without much randomness, it turns into a long grind of tossing tokens and dodging in the same way every time. That said, the visuals and music create an amazing atmosphere — huge props for that! ❤️
Really love the art and music and i found it really satisfying to destroy those cards, but found it a bit difficult
First impression:
The graphics seem a little inconsistent, though I love the artwork! Between the title being vector art, menu background being 'water color' style and menu buttons being pixel art, I would say picking one for the overall art direction would be best. I love the water color style, and I could see some really awesome spine animations in that style really nailing the 'casino' / 'motel art' vibe. haha. Just a nitpick, but something worth investing in if you want to expand the game maybe. :)
I love the music and sounds, but same kind of critique. Between the soft 'speakeasy' piano and 8 bit button hovers, I would say picking a style and sticking with it would feel more cohesive. I like high-definition sound effects personally, and the piano music so I think adding things like 'glass klinks', 'suitcase drops', and 'page flips' would really match the vibe for different UI sounds. :)
I gotta say, though, the music is incredible for this one! I am in love with it!
I love the intital vibe of the game! I am a sucker for HD lighting on pixel art. haha. Feels 'home-y' and has a cozy feel to it from the rip! The shop is nicely done as well! Very fluid. I think some kind of 'negative feedback' would help, as I kept thinking I was buying items even though I didn't have any money. haha. I also think having the descriptions for each power up reguardless of if I am hovering would be nice, That way I could quickly scan between the items and compare effects instead of needing to hover over them each time.
The mechanics are very solid and consistent. Shot, Dash, Kill or be killed. I really enjoy the simplicity of the design, and a lot of the powerups seem well balanced. I like that you equip them to a roulette wheel. I think a couple of the items could be a bit cheaper, such as "Bet the farm" being 20 coins, but has a pretty bad negative side effect for that price (bosses have much more health than the player, and as such Health is a more vital asset). "Doubling down" is by far the better option as you only lose 1 HP but get a 4X. It can be a bit offset by "Against all odds" but when my HP is low, Id rather have more healing effects like "Ace up your sleeve" than damage effects.
Maybe reducing the price of that item would make it more worth the risk, but otherwise I didn't use it. Same thing with "Double or nothing" being a chance item (I had some simliar issues with some items in my game as well), Why pay so much for the possible downside? I think lowering those two in cost would make them more valuable in the short game, as long term they feel more like a net negative and thus I wouldn't ever use them. (but again, this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. haha)
Overall, a really fun entry! I wish it was longer!! Would love more items and bosses! Definately would like to see it expanded! Great work!
Hey, thank you so much for your review and criticism. You don't know how happy I've got when I read this. Personally I am quite proud of this, considering this is my first game jam, first game overall and first time leading a team to make a game.
Balancing the power ups was indeed a pain, because Bet the farm was like knife through butter when it came to bosses health, you'd blitz them with it, and I still think we could have done a better balancing job. And I wanted to have more slots, but I also wanted them to be based around Casino terms, slangs, expressions, and I ran out of ideas, plus we had to finish the third boss.
We had a fourth boss planned, but we didn't have time so we focused on finishing the blackjack boss instead. But we are thinking of expanding this game once the jam is over and adding that fourth boss plus a fifth which we have concept art for.
Nice! Yeah, its always tough getting the theming to match the ability. haha. Nice! I would love to check it out if / once you all are able to add the last boss back in!! :D
Again, fantastic work! Especially for the first time doing all of that, you and the team show great promise!! Very impressive! :)
