Really well made art style, I like the visuals a lot!

Developer

Thanks!

Interesting and nicely coherent style and concept! I would've liked to have a bigger FOV or better indicators as it's hard to see what's going on on the ground when in the air so end up dropping down on a a wave, and vise versa.

Developer

Thanks for playing! A larger FOV would have been nice but I was trying to go for a 360 x 180 pixel resolution so it wouldn't really work

I absolutely love your style! The art, colors, and game design come together beautifully like a piece of art! The game feels so comfortable to play, with its easy controls and clean design! Fantastic job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

Submitted(+1)

The controls are easy to understand, and the bosses' attacks are really cool and unique. I also liked the black and white aesthetic.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I like you space feel and the way you animated with few colors, it has a certain aesthetic to it! Seem s we both have easy bosses, haha I would just go to one side and just fly shoot, and I could hear the boss taking damage without  needing to get close :P.

I rated and submitted to return the favor of your rate submission of my game below! - If others read this, play/rate my game to get me to try yours as well! Thanks!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I guess I should have made the lifespan of the bullets shorter.

Loves everything, The Dark Sun was so unique and exciting

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I loved the art style and music of this game!! Felt immersed in the atmosphere
The boss designs are also really cool, the only feedback is maybe tone it down a bit on the difficulty level (maybe a way to get health back).  Sometimes it felt easier to try to find an exploit than to beat it
but I won't judge because I'm guilty of this charge as well haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! a way to get health back would be good too i think... shame I didn't think of it during development

Fun game, tho i had a bit of a difficulty beating the first boss

Developer

Thanks!

Great style and music. I thought the first boss was super hard until i realized you can just sit on the right side and stay out of his reach haha! I would prefer if i could jump away but still shoot at him, maybe with like mouse aim or something. Quite a few times i was trying to kite him but then would move back into his attacks to try and turn around to shoot. Great work though!

Developer

Thanks for playing! A lot of the attacks seem quite hard at first but then aren't actually. the ground attack is easily avoided by staying in the air, the small lasers are avoided by staying on the ground and the large ring attack can be avoided by running away (as you discovered). Many people have suggested mouse aim and I see that it would have been a good improvement, the moveset for the character is inspired by cuphead so I never really thought about it before.

Submitted

Does it play on a controller? cause I know Cuphead is much better on a controller so its easier to run away and shoot with.  But I do see the inspiration. I did like the tapping to hover mechanic, and I think the difficulty more so came from the relative health differences. Like you hurt him fairly slowly but die fast. With Cuphead as an inspiration I can see why you balanced it that way since its a lot of quick firing low damage attacks that drain the boss over a longer time. I think more control over being able to constantly shoot and focus on dodging attacks would  go a long way.

Developer

No I didn't add controller support... I would play cuphead during school so I had all my keys binded to keyboard lmao. But thank you for the feedback... I'll keep this stuff in mind for any future projects.

This game is soooooo beautiful omg! Also, the music definitely add up to the vibes of the game! I felt that it was pretty hard for me, or did I miss some way that I could heal myself up? Other than that, there is not a single complaint, very well done!

Developer

Thank You So Much! genuinely just wondering but was it so hard you weren't able to get past the bosses or not?

Submitted

Yesss, at least for me I couldn't beat even the first boss :') also, I gave it a lot tries, but eventually something catches me

Submitted

Sooo I gave a couple of retries and managed to beat the first boss! The black hole was on the second try.. my strategy now was to stand on the rightmost side of the arena, that way was more easy to dodge the attacks!

Developer

Wow thank you for replaying! I'm very glad you figured it out

I remember playing this game before the Jam was over, love to see that the feedback was taking into account :D The art of this game is amazing (i might be a bit biased tho hahaha) Also really liked the boss design, If I have to say something negative, I would say that maybe the player only having 3 hearts is a bit hard but other than that was a great experience! :D Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for replaying! Yes I added the hit sfx last minute after your feedback and I think it made it much better.

The art and the music are very cool, congrats! Controls feel good to play too, but it's a little too difficult for me, especially with the keyboard (maybe with a controller?)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I wanted to add controller support but in the end I had to stick to keyboard and mouse since I didn't think that many people would use it and I didn't have that much time.

What a hard game lol.
The graphics are amazing, but one criticism is that the game should have a pixel perfect camera , it would make the make the game feel much tight and snappy, some pixelart styles work without it but a retro style game like yours would benefit alot from it.

The music does not loop, or so i think? But the soundtrack is very nice, as MegaStrimp said, reminds me of megaman!

Very nice game, good job!

Submitted

Ps. maybe slowing down how fast the player falls would make the game feel better, and it would tie in into the whole planet thing.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry you found it too difficult but several people in the comments have told me its too easy so now im a bit conflicted... I made sure that all the pixels with exception I believe to the health and flight bar to be the same scale relative to each other so that no pixels would be larger but I agree that the game would benefit from a pixel perfect camera. I tried using one but it was causing some problems when I was making sure that the game would work on screens with different aspect ratios.

Submitted(+1)

Oh yeah, the pixel perfect does that sometimes. I have not made a pixelart game in a while but from what I remember, there is some way to fix it like locking the aspect ratio to ceirtan resoloutions? im pretty sure cinemachine has a built in pixel perfect camera and it's a little less confusing. As for the difficulty, i just suck at 2D platformers lol

Submitted(+1)

The music reminds me of Zelda and Megaman X lol. Really enjoyed this one, nice work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yea, I took a lot of inspiration from snes era rpgs.

Submitted(+1)

As a 1Bit pixelart fan, I can only love the visual and atmosphere !

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it!

Cool rerto style art nice job!

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Lovely art and music, bosses could use more difficulty but other than that its pretty chill tbh. well done!

Developer

Thanks! I agree with you that the bosses are quite easy but I lowered the difficulty because this is a jam and I have received a couple people saying its too hard. Glad you enjoyed though!

Submitted(+1)

I think the music is the highlight for me - it brings a lot of soul to your game. I would appreciate having some way to either shoot towards the cursor, or shoot directly upwards; it is not easy to put a lot of damage into the dark moon boss if you have to jump to hit it once or twice, so options would be nice. Also, having just 3 hit points feels super tough. The hand drawn planets are really, really awesome, and it helps the art stand out from the crowd. Good work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I apologize that it isn't very intuitive but you can actually kind of stay suspended in the air if you press and let go of the space button while flying. also you don't have to spam the shoot button you can just hold it. But yea I understand its not very clear.

(+1)

I like the background and the art. Good game 9.9/10

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Love the art and sound! I wish I could aim towards the mouse tho

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Being able to shoot with the mouse was kind of a last minute feature as I personally intended the game to be keyboard only but someone suggested it’d be a good idea.
