Very cool game. I slot mechanic reminded me of the a power from the anime hunter x hunter. Good job.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, Kite's ability was one of the inspirations for the gameplay haha

What a unique game design! I liked picking up the dropped cash, and spinning to win, I had to play most my game on distorted, and i think the hit boxes are also distorted, not sure, but sweet game, just need some sound to make it better! Feel free to try ours if you like!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! The distortion is just a visual filter, but it makes you don't know for sure where is your and the boss's real position, so it's harder to hit haha

I tried yours already! I love steampunk

Submitted(+1)

It was a good job and interesting approach but are you sure that %90 percent of the gamblers for hitting big?

Developer

Thanks! It's a meme haha it's to make you think that you could be one of the winners if you kept playing at least one more time

I myself am quite accustomed to the casino, so I love all the slots/roulette/gambling games in the current game jam, but It is a pretty oversaturated market. You did a good job though I like the buff/debuff system. I just wish there were some sounds that would've really set you apart from the rest of the competition.

Thanks! I agree, it's a shame that I didn't add sounds in time

Very interesting and I had a lot of fun. Great job!

Developer

Thank you!

Currently on a quest to play all the other casino-based games from the jam...

This was heaps of fun - kept me playing for quite awhile. Lucky I avoid slot machines in real life, because that one had me hooked.  All the different rolls were really interesting and kept me coming back. Not sure if it was bugged, but had some trouble with the 'bubbles' one - is it meant to have extremely short range? If so maybe a clearer visual indicator that they're popping or something would help that ability along.

I really liked it though - lots of depth and interesting boss behaviour. As others have said, a bit of sound would make it pop, but all up a great entry I think.

Developer

Thanks! The bubbles weapon is the only bad weapon, like a debuff. After the jam I'll update the visuals

Very fun, I think the boss is well-designed and I like how the difficulty increases. Collecting the coins is very satisfying, and I’m sure it’ll be even more satisfying with sound. I hope there’s a future update so I can give it another go. Great use of the theme as well. Overall, great job.

Developer

Thanks! I'll definitely update the game after the jam!

The slot machine is a nice twist on the roguelike genre! My luck is horrible, I kept getting boss invulnerability which seemed to last forever :(, but I'm sure you're still working on balancing and polishing the game. The boss' attack with the suits warning should probably be layered in front of the player so we can see them. Overall, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, I still need to do some tweaks, at the moment there aren't many debuffs so if I reduced their probability even more, people would be able to just roll once, get 5 good buffs and never roll again haha

Submitted(+1)

I had a good time playing this. The way the boss drops coins and the occasional bill is very satisfying. The boss does not do too many crazy attacks so I got to enjoy rolling the slots a bunch. All of the effects in the slot machines were fun to see. I definitely did not like inverted controls or distortion, but it is still a cool feature.

I think the only way I managed to win was by switching health with the boss. The bullets don't feel impactful enough even with a damage upgrade. The 5 slot machine is kind of overwhelming compared to the 3 slot machine. Maybe if the 3 slot machine could give you 3 upgrades instead of the one, there would be more consistency.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, inverted controls and distortion together are a nightmare haha

The slot machine with 1 item is supposed to let you replace debuffs or "instant use" items like heal that takes up space without any active effect. For example if your items at the moment are Boss Invulnerability, Heal, More Damage, More Ammo and Bouncing Bullets you can spin x1 two times to replace the first 2 items, and potentially have 5 good buffs. It's also the only way to get new weapons, like uzi, shotgun and bazooka (they are more likely to appear if you're using the default pistol ate the moment), and as you can stack ammo and damage items it's possible to kill the boss really fast with the right combination

I think that I'll add some tips in the game's description

Nice job! The wheel has some nasty debuffs. A shame that there is no audio, but I read your comment below and the hours before the deadline are indeed rough, I hope you're well now! After the jam you can polish it!

Developer

Thanks! I'm better now, thank you haha! Yeah, I'll definitely polish it, I had fun making it despite everything lol

Submitted(+1)

the slots machine is really fun, I like a lot and the graphics are fine and matching, I rate graphics and fun overal but all is good, also if you have some time, please rate my game too, thanks!!

Developer

Thanks! I'll check yours out too!

Submitted(+1)

Definitely could use some sound and a prompt that comes up and tells you to spin when you have a lot of money. It took me a minute to figure out I had to do that. Overall though really good concept and fun

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I explained below why it didn't have any sound haha

The whole HUD was supposed to be hand-drawn and I was going to make the spin GUI light up when you had the necessary money, but couldn't do it in time :(

Submitted(+1)

ah gotcha. Yeah I feel you. I always think I can get more done in a game jam than I end up doing.

Submitted(+1)

Nice little game here.

The ability gambling was really cool I like how you added interesting things like time stop and homing bullets.
The gameplay of gambling until I got a good build was fun and fits the theme well.

Would have liked to have had any audio but the core game was fun. More bosses would have been nice too.

Fun!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I had 3 bosses in mind for this jam but I couldn't do it in time, unfortunately.

About the audio, I wish I could have implemented it in the game (simple sounds and at least one music), but I thought that the deadline was february 10, and when I realized that it was actually february 2 I spent the last week barely sleeping, just trying to make a playable game... So I was getting physically unwell and sick because of deprived sleep lol. 1 hour before the deadline I decided to upload it and went to sleep, I really couldn't do anything else (later I found out that they extended the deadline by 4 hours lmao)

This game was a lot more fun than I expected. The slot machine can be pretty punishing at times, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it even makes sense haha. And that distortion effect was really cool, there were so many effects and that must have been a lot of work. Good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Yeah, I tried to encourage people to use the slot machine as many times as possible trying to remove the debuffs haha. I had more effects planned and even some that I had created but had to scrap for the jam because I didn't have time to implement and balance them well enough

Submitted(+1)

really cool concept. very fun game. controls were somewhat hard to figure out until I read the description. I dont like the "house always win" drop from the slotmachine tho, It punishes you for playing as the game should be played. great game.

Developer

Thanks! I couldn't make a "how to play" in the title menu in time :(

There's another drop that's called "jackpot!" (instant win), that serves as the opposite to this one, they both have the lowest probability to appear

Submitted(+1)

Really cool idea with the roulette for upgrades and the coins falling from the boss! Overall, it's a very fun game. It's clear that the deadline limited what you could implement, but what you managed to finish looks and plays great! Excellent work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I plan to implement more things after the gamejam

Submitted(+1)

I like spinning slots for upgrades and weapons, but I wish there was more to the boss.

Developer

Yeah, I planned at least 3 bosses for this gamejam, but it was my first time using Godot and it took more time than expected... Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I had the same idea on the theme but it didn't fit
glad to see it being well implemented in this game! Good Job!

Developer

Thanks!

spin as in a jackpot spin, good idea on the game.

this game has a bit of potential, thought not much to offer, I do like the spinning and chance mechanic, though the controls were hard to figure out till later, but still had a good time with the game.

at least it's playable.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I was going to add a "how to play", but couldn't do it in time, so I explained the gameplay in the game's page

Submitted(+1)

Really fun to spend money spinning the jackpot, very interesting idea :)

Developer

Thanks!
