How does your game fit the theme?
You leave each city to find a completely unpredictable aisle leading into the next one, leaving the question "what's behind the door?".

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
except for some code from older projects and a tweening library

this game is a hidden gem. i loved everything. even tho the gameplay can be repetetive, it is still a very polished and ineteresting game made under one week. i feel like it can be made in something much more prominent tham just a jam game. i hope developers will think about it.

i loved the retrostyle, trade system really hit home for me, a fallout fan :D. it was inetresting to think where to sell goods to find more profitable offers.

the door theme really was more metaphorical in my opinion which isn't bad but curtainly can be hard to find. maybe it woiuld be better to go more straightforward for the next jam cause i feel it can become a problem in raiting.

music was good, repetitevness didn't affect me much and loved how sound doubled. really gave more to the game.

thank you for this experience. deffinetly will come back to it even after the jam

Nicely Done!

Pros:

-Game seems well polished, has a single art style and sticks to it well.

-Game play is unique, as a type of console feel to it.

-Animations are smooth, the way the text comes in whist at the stores is nice

-Sounds are complete, everything has their own sound effects making player feedback good

Cons:

-Game can sometimes seem a little to monochrome sometimes, perhaps more color could have been use in different ways.

-Music is good, but its always restarting, every scene the music restarts when can get annoying.

-No volume, (Unless I'm blind and didn't see it in front of me) i couldn't see a volume slider so i had to turn my global PC sound down as not to get jump scared by the high pitch "enemy found" noise.

-Death is a bit fast, I went to attack and before i knew it the screen was onto the death screen, I didn't see what I did to die so I didn't learn what not to do.

-Not sure where the "What's behind the door" theme fits in there or at least it wasn't obvious enough for me to see it.

Conclusion:

Could have a few more colors thrown in there and a few QOL changes (audio settings). There game had a very clear theme in mind and seemed very finished which is hard for game jams. Played it for a good few minutes. Liked the graphical approach to the whole game.  Fantastic entry

Awesome game, I sense some Caves of Qud inspiration perhaps? unbelievably impressive for a solo dev to make this in less than a week.

the jam's theme isn't very prominent imo, it seems like a really cool trading-based roguelike and "what's behind the door" is only loosely connected.

This game has a great visual style, music, UX, the gameplay loop is addictive, and i love the wacky character designs. there's something so compelling about making an investment, taking a risk, and then reaping a reward, and this game captures it very well.

regardless of its relation to the jam theme, you should be really proud of what you've made here, sometimes one must detour from guidelines in order to make something great

This is one of my favorites, loved all of it, it is a great game!

Roguelikes do fit the theme quite well! The gameplay is very satisfying, and I like the decision-making involved in going to the different markets.

Love the aesthetic and especially the music!

Awesome! Super enjoyable, great core loop, great polish, don't think I have any gripes at all. Very well done!

Very polished visually, but I found it unclear what I was supposed to be doing. Maybe a tutorial would be helpful. Also, there is a lot of text to read through.

SO DOPE!! I am obsessed with the soundtrack. The aesthetic is awesome, and super immersive. I would say sometimes the balancing feels unfair, and that beating the game requires more luck than knowledge of the combat mechanics or items, but I could just be bad. Many of my runs have ended on the first or second attack of the first encounter which is a bit frustrating. I will keep playing anyway though because that combat music is everything. Thanks for making this!

Very nice! I enjoyed the design quite a bit. Some of the gameplay could have been a little better explained, like the combat mechanics, but that didn't affect my enjoyment of the game. Great work!

Great game! The gameplay is fun and addicting.

Two things:
After you restarted the game a couple of times it would be nice to skip the transition text between cities.
Also; I felt kinda cheated that you both hit at the same time. So even tho a hit would kill the opponent I also died if his damage surpassed my life. Maybe have something to decide who goes first in a round, or just make it random.

Amazing!

Really cool game with amazing graphics. The sound and the aesthetic was great. I feel like I was missing something though, every time I fought the boxer it would restart my game. Maybe I was told not to and I forgot, but it left me a little confused lol.

Developer(+1)

That restarting is the death screen, the boxer just has really high dmg :D. When you use a meelee weapon, you take the enemie's damage too. Sorry if that wasn't that clear. Thank you for your comment!

ohh ok thank you! I thought it was turn based, that makes a lot more sense! I'll give it another go now :)

Developer(+1)

It's sorta, i figured skipping the enemy turn made the game more responsive and gave the player more agency while also giving more weight to decisions :D
