How does your game fit the theme?
you start with riding your truck in the nice sunny day
but then a very big storm strikes and you take cover in a nearby diner
theres some rumors that there are monsters when a storm comes, then you explore and learn more as you progress

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
i drew and wrote everything by my self exept the musics which i got from a website

I like the animated cutscenes :)) Props for making that and the dialogue system in python. Maybe there should be some feedback to show that each character has more than one line of dialogue, as well as when they run out of dialogue. Also, was seeing "p" in the middle of the screen where the dialogue was before I interacted with anyone, is that supposed to say something else?

Developer

thanks, I wanted the player to be able to reply and effect the ending but I didn't have time for that, and the p i forgot to remove it was for a test 💀

there's so much OG Newgrounds energy emanating from this game, it's wonderful. I don't really wanna give any particular critiques, I just want you to continue doing your thing. (ok one thing, the audio volume is a bit loud at times, maybe give the player a slider)

Developer

thanks, theres not much content at the moment and yes the ending sound broke everyone's ear

"i dont live when i still have customers"

seriously this was cute in a goofy way, the story was trying to be serious but i was on my seat laughing, such a joy to play.

honestly really impressed you made this all in pygame, very cool, keep up the great work.

also another thing, the lighting is good

Developer(+2)

Thanks, I wanted so that the player can reply to the NPC and different replies effect the ending but I didn't have enough time for that

And that was a typo on ur screen shot 💀

really good story telling especially with the ending

love how simple the art style is wish the cutscenes where a bit faster also you did a really good move with the lighting sounds

Developer(+1)

thanks, right now theres only one ending, but i will work on more endings

A quirky fun browser game this could be, you would find this like an old flash game xD.

I'm sure with lot of polish and stuff it could be nice horror story game.

Developer

thanks, theres not much content right now but i will work on it and add a lot more sounds and most importantly make more ending and dialogs

Game Design: Unfortunatley theres not much gameplay so I cant really rate this, you proabaply ran out of time. 4/10

Fun: It was really fun to walk arround and talk to the people, they were all unique and really charming just like the cutscenes but more on that later. Its really cute and you can see that effort was put into this game. 8/10

Innovation: This is probaply another category the game severly lacks in, while the story is charming and cute the gameplay is very generic. 4/10

Theme: There was a storm and in the dinner it was pretty calm so that fit the theme perfectly, unfortnitually it does not fit the gamemechanics that arent really there, calm before the storm also reflected in the slow wlaking vs the intense cutscenes. 9/10

Graphics: I really like the graphics, I cnt really be nutral with them as my first gamew were also in python with these hand drawn graphics. The colors really pop out of the dark background seperating the calm even further from the storm and they are obviously not realisitc or perfect but it has its own style, the cutscenes were really great, I did not expect them. The main charachter doesnt really fit but its obvious you kinda ran out of time with that. 8.5/10

Audio: It is there, its above average and fits the game really well 8/10

Overall I really like this and it has its own charachter wich is reall good. Keep working on your Game design skills and make more charming little games like this, I wish you the best of luck. Solid 6.8/10

thankyou very much for the reply mate, i will work on the monster and more dialogs and most importantly more endings, theres not much game play at the moment because i dont really have much time for this jam and i kinda spent to much time drawing, i didnt expect you to give it good score for the theme because the 'before storm' was only a couple frames before the rain arives but i think it's also still preety calm in the cafe right now, i will work on more intense moments, and the audio was actualy a last minute thing, i just googled some rain sounds and pick a heavy rain and calm rain :>

I appreciate that hand drawn art and there was some sound to set the ambience which cant be taken for granted. I may have been bugged or doing something wrong but I could only leave the diner and there was no progression of story beyond dialog. I think maybe the scope was a bit ambitious for the development time frame but I definitely got a feel for what it could be, keep at it!

Developer

thanks, there was not much content i could make with the time i had, but atleast i made one ending so far, i will add more animation and chats and most importantly more endings soon

Such a cool game, it has also a lot of potential to continue this in the future, love it, great job!! The art is unique

Developer

Thanks, there's only one ending at  the moment without that much content because i am also busy with school, i will definitely add more dialogs and endings soon!
and more sounds

Very charming game. I slid off the road and died in a car crash, 8/10 would eat at this diner again.

Developer(+1)

THANKS, the story doesnt realy connect yet with the little content i added with the time i have, i will add more in the future <3

This game has a lot of charm! I like it

This game is art. The artstyle and presentation (including the language use) is very quirky and meme-y in a good way! Very lovable.

I read your warning about the sound volume and thought: "What are they talking about? The volumes are fine!" and then I stepped outside. I love my ears, but after today I don't think they love me back.

I hope you learned a lot with this jam, and hope you get a little more time to add some more content in future jams.

Developer

hehe thanks

i put a little ear warning in the description ツ

Submitted(+1)

The artstyle is actually pretty cute, there isn't much to the game but i liked the "press more for more dialogue"

Developer

thanks, we're supposed to have some option to reply but i didnt have enough time to make that :)

Submitted(+1)

I like this type of art. I don't know why but it makes games more fun to play. I hope you continue working on the game after the jam and add more endings. Good job!

Developer(+1)

thanks, i will continue if i have time but an update might not come anytime soon
