How does your game fit the theme?
HURRICADE takes the game jam theme literally, featuring an octopus fleeing from a hurricane and taking place during the "calm before the storm".
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?

Loved the Artstyle, concept was very cute
cute game. I feel like the map designs were a bit too straight forward, you can easily clear the game without letting go of mouse. Wish the storm was incorporated a bit more rather than a small progress bar. some extra sfx would've enhanced the experience, and more levels
nice submission!
Liked the game! It was extremly hard and close sometimes but very fun!
Simple game with simple controls! Pixel art graphics and music loop are pretty neat
Cool and "simple and sweet", just like you promised! I would like to mention that I beat the game without taking damage whatsoever (also not running out of time), and I can tell you that you put great care in the collision work, which is good, because that could have been quite the pitfall for this game, but instead it's totally on-point! Music was just a tad bit loud.
Cheers on 20 ratings!
Pretty chill game. No timer, no moving enemies, just you, some spikes and fisher man lol. Just wished for a bit more sfx for the squid when moving.
Hope that you'll also rate mine https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2973690
I thought the levels were very well done and the controls were very simple and easy to pick up. Liked how the game got progressively more and more difficult each level.
One thing I found interesting is the idea of just taking a simple countdown timer and making that the storm. I am trying to fugure out if this is relevant enough to the theme, but I really liked the storm animation at the end.
I actually waited out the storm timer to see if something would happen, and was satisfied that something did indeed happen! With that in mind, I definitely think it's at least mostly relevant enough, so really nice job on the game!
Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback and I’m glad you liked the storm!
Great job! this feels really good for a first game jam! keep it up.
nice game, love the simple controls and overall gameplay, and great job on creating the music and sfx!
Cool game! It was fun to control de octopus. The music was great, and the difficulty was good, -challenging, but not too hard. I enjoyed playing it, great job!
Octopus movement felt really good! I had a lot of fun playing through all of the levels along to the fun soundtrack. I never got hit by the hurricane though, making the timer shorter could make it more challenging.
Really smart and minimalist controls, I like it a lot :D
The music was really grating after a while though :/
Really fun and the music is simple but good, I would make the timer a little shorter overall and different for different stages.
Really fun little challenge, very good work on the hitboxes, felt very fair!
Short and sweet is the right description! A couple of minutes of fun, minor challenge. Didn't see anything wrong with it. I noticed that the hitboxes were good, I didn't die from just barely scraping an urchin.
It's great! Short but fun, I really liked playing it. Full screen option would be awesome, my mouse cursor got outside the game window a few times which stops the game.
Very fun to play! The movement felt good to control and I enjoyed the levels and the art. The track was also a vibe, great job!
coherent art style, loved the whole aesthetics. Had a lot of fun playing your game
loved the squid controls and the fishing-line obstacles!
Really enjoyed the art style, a cool idea could be to make you sink a bit in the water similar to how Mario under water levels were, could help with making some cool platforming puzzles. I liked the idea though good job :)
Good idea, thanks for the feedback!
