How does your game fit the theme?
It's a platformer where you have to find your cat before a big storm hits. It's a little on the nose, but the core gameplay loop is about resting at benches, waiting for things in the environment to change so you can progress. The initial design pitch was that when the storm comes, it's game over. This is still sort of true, but more because most of the jumps become impossible at that point.
That said, *most* of the game is about everything *before* the storm hits. The abandoned park, the closed trails, and the wind picking up and getting more intense.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes

Pretty cool game, also I like the art style :D
Thank you :)
Super polished and fleshed out game, was really fun. Would have loved to see a little more gameplay, it felt way too short haha.
Thanks! Yeah definitely ran out of time at the end there, was scrambling to just get even what we have finished.
A nice game with some cool mechanics. great work :)
Game was pleasant and relaxing. I like the mood. Great work.
The art looks great and your take on the storm is pretty good! Too bad I'm allergic to cats otherwise Tabby wouldn't have run away
Really really nice game! The character (and cat) pixel art is really cute, backgrounds are beautiful, music fits really well, movement feels really smooth, and I love the use of text popups and cutscenes too! The waiting mechanic adds a nice puzzle element to the game, I wish it was a longer game.
It feels super polished overall and I love the ending! Well done :D
I loved everything, it is really nice i just wish it was longer haha
purrfact way to implement the theme!
I want to know how you guys make the cutscenes for the game, it looks great!
plus the art and music is great too! your team did a great work!
very solid submission!
Thanks for the kind words! The cutscenes were made using the AnimationPlayer in Godot. I set up some methods on the player script to disable input, force jumps, and force movement. Then made text generators for the MC that are triggered with areas. The AnimationPlayer would call all of these in the order I set. Probably a pretty jank/bad way to do it but it ended working well enough for the jam!
It sounds a lot of work went in to make the characters move smoothly. which I think it paid out pretty well!
If that's the implementation, I wonder each playthrough plays out slightly different cutscenes depending on the character's position and speed when the cutscene has started
Thanks for answering my question!
For sure! And yeah that's something I had to design around. The first cutscene happens right after you fall into a large pit, so I knew the player would be respawned right at the checkpoint, always the same position. And the last one forces you through a small gap, so that everyone would have to trigger it right then. A more elegant solution would be to calculate the path to the cutscene 'start' and have the player character move there before triggering the rest of the scene. Or something!
Like the game idea. The character is flickering for me a little but it's not a big deal. Such a great artstyle! Good Luck!
Not bad :)
Very interesting game, I love the time/weather mechanic!
Some feedback on jumps needs to be fixed in my opinion, maybe holding the space key for half a second which opens the umbrella could be nice.
Overall is great, good job!
OMG it's SO CUTE!!!
the umbrella is such a good mechanic, rly smart
This is really good. Reminds me of Celeste with the art and the wind mechanic.
Omg this was so good, perfect length for a game jam gam.
the mechanics with the weather are so smart!!
I enjoyed the vibe and the general feel, there were some freezes in the browser, which I believe is due to itch.io servers busy.
Really impressive
Love the music, really enhances the mood. Awesome stuff!
The gameplay and real-time animations are definitely worth learning. The demo version showcases something very special and excellent.
Well done, I love it.
Nice graphics and the idea of using the wind as a mechanic was nice.
Good job!!!
I just LOVE the atmosphere ! The controls feel very nice and smooth and the concept is simple and elegant !
The graphics were the first thing that picked my interest but everything is cozy and simply purrfect !
The level design was nice overall, but there was a place where i was stuck and couldn't get out without waiting for the wind to pick up (the small pit right after the first bench jump), so this might get tricky to tune the level design so you don't have to actually wait a minute or so for the wind to change direction !
For the future testers, i also recommend playing the standalone version as some particles were not showing in the browser version.
Thanks for the kind words! Sorry about getting stuck lol. I was sure I checked most of those things, but we were making so many last minute changes stuff fell through the cracks. I wish we had more time! Thanks again
Haha i know the feeling of those last minute changes, but don't worry, it was only during my second playthrough while i was typing my review ^^
Wild to think of someone doing a '2nd playthrough' on our little project. Again, thank you. But now I'm curious, did you find the secret tunnel?
I actually tested it before the jam ended and wanted to try again to see if the build was different because i didn't want to miss any last minute change ! (Also i'm glad i did because that way i could enjoy the particles which were not rendering in the WebGL)
I didn't find the secret tunnel but i guess it just sounds like a reason to do a 3rd playthrough haha
It's a real quick small thing, just start again and walk left at the start. I wonder how many people spotted it.
First game I played from this jam and wow I have to say I am really impressed with the superb art and mechanics! Its such a cool way to fit the theme! Definitely loved the forecast and the different weather that came about when you waited. Solid job! ;)
