Very chill platformer! I agree with the other comments so far. Graphics and gameplay could use some refinement, but I enjoyed the dialogue, character art, and vibes.
You should differentiate what is background and what is ground/climbable. It was very hard to find out you could climb the trees. Sarcastic dialogue options were a welcome surprise for a calm game.
Very cozy color palette - there were a few issues with parallax sprites in the background getting clipped, but a great art style overall. Good job!
This was a super chill last game to play for today before bed. I love just wandering around as this little dude exploring the mountainside. Your thumbnail is absolutely gorgeous, I think it's the best one I've seen in the jam so far.
As some of the other comments pointing out, the main thing affecting your game is that the pixels crucially need to all be the same size for the aesthetic to gel, I made the same mistake in my first pixel art game. What I do now is decide early what the game's "working" resolution will be, then I choose a canvas size for my main character accordingly, you can easily look this info up for other games to get an idea.
Let's say you go with a 16 x 16 character. Besides the landscape, that 16 x 16 is now your reference for everything else in the game (a good choice since the main character is always on screen). An elephant twice as big as the player? Okay, let's use a 32 x 32 canvas this time and fill it up. A little rock? Maybe I'd even keep it 16 x 16 for convienence, but just remember to take up less space in the canvas, then drop them both into a test scene to check the size works, or even keep your player on a different layer to compare while drawing. No scaling allowed! I hope that clears it up, it took me a minute to understand at first, but now I can't unsee it.
thanks so much for the feedback! This is my first huge pixel art project so def learned a lot!
Great game, I really like how relaxed it is, and the 3 status indicators kind of remind me of Sonic Heroes, it's a creative concept. The song was really nice and I liked how fluid and polished the menus felt. The parallax background was cool and Tthe pixel art is good, but scaled weirdly in some areas, overall I think the game is a bit rough around the edges, but a great experience nonetheless. GG!
The dialogues are great, UI and menus design also, the chill vibe also great, need improvement with the jump. The pixel inconsistency is something to remember for next jam, it doesn't affect the gameplay, but could make the game look even nicer.
Neat! Really relaxing to play, nice music! Also, how cute is the little panda? Awesome! Did you create the whole art yourself? :)
thank you! I did the character art and tileset and background

The good stuff:
- I loved the music, fits the game really well
- The art was well made
- Level design and the way the enviorement was put together looks and feels good
The stuff to improve in:
- Stop the pixel inconsistency, it doesn't and will never look good. Just tell the artist to do it in a set size instead of scaling it afterwards.
- As McJordan32 pointed out, the transitions are really slow when there's no reason for them to be like that.
- I agree with what Roaming Maelstrom said, the jumping is really weird, I don't understand why there's a delay.
edit:
- The survival part of the game is sort of irrelevant as you'll always get enough resources to survive till the next one and you never need to go out of your way to find food or something.
thank yoy for your feedback ! Could you elaborate on what you mean by the pixel inconsistency?
Pixel inconsistency is when you have 2 or more objects on screen with different pixel sizes. It's best to avoid these because it usually looks low effort. Here's an example from the game (big and small pixels):
ohhh I see, def will fix that for future. Thanks!
do you have any tips on fixing this? Should I always make assets like 3 times the size of the player sprite (64x80)
make every sprite's scale correct relative to the player so that they don't need to be scaled afterwards
I think I agree with every points :D
Congrats for the good stuff. And have fun improving the rest :)
Absolut stunning game. Looks great and is pretty chill. Just the transition feel slow and it would have been great if you could run.
Agree with others. Very chill game, great music, love the art style and dialog. Great job!!
This is such a beautiful chill game. The audio is great and well matched to the atmosphere. I enjoyed the dialogue too. Nice work.
Sprites and art are of an extremely high standard. As someone said on discord, very reminiscent of Celeste in that regard. Good choice of colours. NPCs stand out for me though, particularly in the dialogue. Vibrant and overall very effective. Only issue was some gaps between terrain sprites (the cliffs).
The calming music complements the graphics very nicely. The SFX add to the whole package too.
Simple and yet reasonably effective interpretation of the theme.
I did have quite a few problems with the gameplay unfortunately. Namely:
With all that said; Aesthetically excellent game that needs some more work on the Gameplay and Design aspects of it. Still a very good submission. Nice job!
thank you for playing! And thanks for the awesome feedback will def keep that stuff in mind for the future :)
The graphics of the game are stunning, as well as the music, a good game for chill evening.
Nice. My only beef is that the character is a bit slow to jump after pressing the space bar.
Keeping it real.. you lost me with the first fetch 3 things quest. Just a bit slow for my taste. To each their own!
Art is fantastic!
Very cute game! I love the dialogue and the music/sound design its so wobbly sounding lol. I also love the message of the game, and like how you can set the spirits free. One note though, there is still a prompt to speak to a spirit after setting it free, even though it isn't there anymore lol. Otherwise very well done!
great game . reminds me of celeste.
Sarcastic dialog options brought me much fun, but platforming felt like a chore
Very Cute! I wish the character's momentum slowed down in the air, but this very much reminds me of Celeste in all the best ways.
Congrats on finishing the jam!
