This game deserves so much praise. The art is actually amazing along with very polished audio, voice acting, and UI. Gameplay-wise it's a good mix of simplicity and strategy. Also, I'm super impressed at how fleshed out the choices in between levels are and how your choices can affect the game. For feedback, I'd say it was a little too much reading at times
I didn't rate a ton of games in this jam but this is probably the best one ive played! Great work
Nice little game! Unfortunately, I chose melee combat in the beginning, and since all my new companion were also melee, I've almost lost the battle with golems and swirls. But I was lucky and victorious.
A shame that there is not much about the scales part of the game, because only three levels...
Charming voice-over, I wish the story was told more in the dialogue during the battle (there's plenty of time, and with voice-over it's convenient to listen to) and with less text between levels.
The voiceover and the art style both fit the setting. The amount of content is seriously impressive for a month, and the battle dialogue was funny as heck.
I couldn’t exit the settings screen and had to restart the game. Also, the game crashed after level 3 for me.
In terms of improvements, there could be more than 6 upgrades every round so players have to choose boons to miss out on. The UI could also be a bit more polished, and I noticed the health info was sometimes inaccurate. Still, great job for making such an engaging game!
Voice over was impressive. Nice work.
My game did close after completing and after losing, I don't know if that intentional or not.
A dang impressive amount of work 'ere! Not only is this an ambitious genre to do in a game jam, but it feels well-balanced to me as well. I'd echo the other comments about the DOS-era throwback vibes. Almost gives me the feeling of a pre-apocalyptic Fallout. Nice work!
The hotboxes were a little unforgiving but overall this is a HUGE game for a jam! Nice work! Very impressive!
Very ambitious game for a game jam, this genre is not something that I'm used to seeing around these places, well done! 😀
The game reminds me of old PC games with its aesthetic, UI and style, it's like if you took the original Fallout and washed its face and adapted its mechanics to another genre; it's really charming! 😊
It's impressive that you've managed to add a combat system, levels (in plural) and an AI to play with, along with information UIs, combat log and post-match decissions, good job! 😄
I would appreciate if the interactuable items in the map such as enemies would have a larger hitbox to click, I miss-clicked many times for just a few centimeters!
Other than that, impressive work guys, you should feel proud! 😃
Really enjoyed playing this. It reminded me a bit of the combat in Betrayal at Krondor. Definitely will be spending more time in it. Music was really soothing.
On the technical side, I'm in awe of the menu system and information panels! All very nicely done
I hope you get more rate! This is amazing game one can create for a month. Cool music, cool graphics, cool gameplay, and the intro is voice-acted <3
And it's created with godot! <3
Wow, really impressive game! Went through a few different battles before I died. I think I'll definitely come back to play more. The art style is really unique looking and the voiceover and writing is very cool. I like how the scale plays a role in the storytelling. Great work!
Wow.
Was all of this original? If so, quadruple wow. Very nice attention to detail and amount of design put in. Personally it was a hard time making 2-3 sprites, can't imagine how much time it took you for all of this combined. Did you have a team?
Thanks so much for playing! Yes it was all original - the 2d sprites are based on 3d models. I modelled and painted the characters in Blender first, then animated it with Mixamo, then, in Blender, rendered the animations in 6 directions to make the 2d animations. I had originally planned to make enough characters for 10 levels but I only had time for 3 levels. It was still quite a lot of work though! We are a team of 2 - I did the art, audio, and story and my team mate did the programming. Thanks for your feedback! :)
Great art, sound and voiceover. I liked the storytelling.
Me and my boy Enkidu slapping the shit out of rock monsters
I loved the art style and voiceover! The game's pacing is a bit slow for my taste, but overall, you have a great game!! Good job!
Love the voiceovers! Had fun playing this game, and would love to see it finished at some point. Well done!
Really cool game - a little slow but the voice overs are great and it cool you made it historical and wanted to build lore. Very impressive all in all :)
It's an impressive game with the set up. Reminds me of battles in Endless Legends / Humanity. My game kept crashing. It really does not like me choosing Solar Flare as an option at the very beginning. You've got an impressive voice over. I started getting impatient to get into the action. I think you could interweave it a little bit. You've done a wonderful job putting this together.
Thanks for your feedback! Shame about the solar flare crash (and burn lol), I'll look into it! We were inspired by the battles in Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I really enjoy turn based combat so will check out Endless legends/Humanity. Thanks for playing!
Very cool project. You even did voice acting and a story based on ancient mythology. It's a pity that this adventure turned out to be very short. If there are updates, I will definitely play again!
Thank you! There are supposed to be about 8 more battles to finish off the story but we ran out of time :). We are planning to complete it though. Thank you for the comment and for playing! :)
Voice over was very good. If it is AI I would be surprised so if it is AI please share how you did it but I don't think it is.
Thanks for playing and for the comment! The voice over is me :)
Hey all love to see other games related to history submitted :) Though I don't know much about this time period. Some feedback (Windows):
- Clicking "Cancel" on the settings screen doesn't seem to do anything
- I figured it out by clicking on Gilgamesh but can't see the remaining mana, health etc. easily I think.
- I could be missing it but I couldn't easily tell how much damage some spells do
- I tried to reload after completing the first 3 missions and I don't have my ally anymore (easy difficulty) so that could be a bug?
I think the theme interpretation was clever so well done with that.
Thanks for playing! I love history/myths/legends games too - looking forward to checking out yours.
Thanks for the feedback - good tips - will take a look at them for the post-jam update.
Thanks for the feedback! Your game looks cool too - I'll be sure to check it out when I get a chance :)
- The cancel button just cancels/reverts any changes you make, it should probably be labelled "Revert" instead, to close the settings you just press the cross on the top right
- Yes the UI needs work. The active character health/mana/reagents is visible next to the portrait on the bottom left, the health is displayed as a bar above each character, and as you said you can also see on right-click. We'll need to figure out a more intuitive UI
- If we decide to continue development the spell system will be reworked, including easily visible details maybe on right-click or hover - we'll think about that. Appreciate you pointing it out :)
- When you reload you have the opportunity to change the difficulty - it is set to medium (no allies) by default. We should probably keep it set to the last selected difficulty to avoid this issue. Another UX issue :)
Very much appreciate you trying our game and the feedback is valuable - thanks again :)
