This entry is very impressive :) I really like the aesthetic and the variety of gameplay. I had only some issues with the camera, as other people already pointed out, but overall this is a very good game :) thank you for posting it!
Amazing! I really enjoyed it and I was surprised of how much content there is! The degree of polishment is also very high! The only thing I would improve is the controls. I played with keyboard and mouse and the camera sensitivity was quite high. But I think that's very individual. But besides that well done! :)
Really cool game! The only thing I would add is a bit of coyote time for the jumps. Good job !
Cool aesthetic! The camera was very hard to control with both keyboard and mouse, but I really liked the look of the game. This was very impressive for a game jam. Good job!
Thanks so much for playing!
Could you expand on the issues you had with the camera on mouse and keyboard?
You are not the only one to give feedback that the camera was difficult with the mouse and I really want to fix that.
If I turn the look sensitivity down in the settings or pause menu the camera is easy for me to control with my mouse on my setup.
But another user said even when they set look sensitivity all the way down they still had trouble with the camera.
The game is fun and the idea is really good!
I found the camera a bit tricky to use and very sensitive also to the minimum. Sure it is something you can fix!
Overall good one
Thanks for giving a shot!
I keep incrementally improving the camera/character controller every time I recreate it in a new project. I am horrible with mouse and keyboard controls as a player, so I have trouble knowing what will feel good to KBM users.
I really appreciate you giving it a look. Your entry is hands down one of my faves of the jam so far.
Easy to get the hand off. Amusing, fun, dark - great approach for a 30 day effort. Grim looks awesome!
Really polished! Liked the level design very much, it is just right. The style is unique. I would like it if the bosses have more delay into their attacks, they are quite hard to dodge XD. I almost stun locked the boss to death by jump attacking him during the punching attack, he will keep using the punching attack after stun. All the little touches like the dialogue and settings and checkpoints and the help window when the player dies too often are a good touch. Overall good job!
Thanks! We had a lot of fun making it.
There is a distance from the player where the punch attack is the only attack it is calculating odds on. It is possible you were repeatedly pushing them into this "sweet spot" with your air attacks. Anyway, thanks for giving it a look :).
Your submission looks awesome BTW adding it to my list to play tomorrow.
Impressive 3d visuals, love the bendy and the ink machine vibe. Got a bit confused with the direction of the game, but great work nevertheless.
Really like the visuals of your game, and although I struggled with trying to jump too late on almost every long jump, I was able to finish it. I’ll echo what others have said, the ability to skip to a checkpoint is genius. Also, great UI design. Well done!
Love the skelly character and the video at the end. Great work on the game! Had some jumping issues but other than that it was pretty awesome. I like the addition of the skip to next checkpoint for a game jam game.
Thanks! I really wanted everyone to be able to see the endings regardless of their platforming or combat skills :).
Loved the atmosphere and visuals, the ending was great really surprised me. Had an issue with double jumping when holding the jump button as I went off a platform it double jumped instead. Great Job!
Hello,
It's very nice! It's not the artstyle I prefer, but it's well done, so that's a good point :)
I don't know if it's my keyboard or not, but sometimes, the game double-jumped even if I jumped once (it may be my keyboard because sometimes space bar does his life)
Very cool overall, congratulations :)
Hey! Great little game jam game! The videos at the end were a welcomed surprise. :)
I loved the coherent art style and the details like chromatic aberration on various objects and comic-like dithering in the dialogue background. The sound design was also great and the boss attack animations were very well made. Well done overall!
I personally struggled to see the theme interpretation in the game. Adding the scale into the boss fight felt forced and did not bring anything extra to the game.
Thanks for giving it a play! I had a great partner on this project doing the art. I'm so pleased with how the art direction came together.
Played browser build and made it to the end. Very nice looking game.
Platfroming could use some work. I missed many jumps close to the edge and just fell off, as if ground check thinks I'm falling too early. You could look up and implement Coyote Time and Jump Buffering to improve platformin experience.
Camera seems to be moving too fast. That might not be a big issue if if also tried to reposition itself to look at where I'm going.
While the game shows me all controls at the start I don't think I'm the only one who didn't pay enough attention to all controls. So I missed that I can press F to spin. Not that it was a big deal, I still beat the game doing much harder running jumps :D But you should add some readable hints along the way to make sure I'm introduced to all mechanics of the game.
Thanks for playing! You can adjust the camera sensitivity settings in the pause menu.
Bummer about not floating! We tried to make the tutorial something you had to see at the beginning.
Glad to hear the browser build played nicely on your setup. I hope you got a good ending :).
Edit: forgot to mention if you feel like any platforming sections are too hard you can always Skip To Next Checkpoint in the Pause menu.
Glad to see other participants submitting classic 3D platformers as well! 😊
Your art style is quite interesting, it reminds me of Cuphead, but with cartoons from the 20's instead, I really like the concept! 😁
The gameplay is responsive, but I see some flaws with it that could be corrected to become better in my opinion:
Other than that, the concept is quite interesting, and the final video is quite funny! I still have the second ending to unlock hehehe 😜
Good job and keep improving guys! 😃
Thank you for playing! We were super inspired by Cuphead and Psychonauts.
Sorry about the camera. You can adjust the sensitivity and inversion settings in the start and pause menus of the game!
The combat was supposed to be a bigger part of the game, but we ran out of time to implement other enemies besides the final fight. Classic game jam stuff.
Can't wait to try your game out as well!
Keeo up the good work guys! If you keep developing this game outside the jam you can have a game with a lot of personality! 😁
I got stuck here but I am using Firefox.
Oh no. We are finding that now that more people are trying it out that the browser build is a little finicky.
If you can try the Windows build out that will provide better performance.
If anyone else feels stuck by platforming challenge you can always Skip To Next Checkpoint in the Pause menu.
*Glad this wasn't actually a technical issue :)
have you tried pressing F to slow your fall? I know I didn't at first :)
Nope I was just jumping and falling to the pit. I guess that explains it.
I see now that this was an issue with Floating!
I hope you had fun and come back to finish now that you can float!
