I love the retro style, great work!

Developer

Just to let players know that cheat code HHCAAQSS will take you to the start of level 2 (The Goblin Fortress) with a fine set of power ups. Just select option 3 from the main menu, then enter the code (case insensitive).

Thank you!

Dude, the moment I launched the game, I felt old—and I loved it...

This is really well made! Love that there are two palette modes and you incorporated all the wild cards :D Though I have to say it got annoying quite fast when you need to traverse through the screens because of the slow transition, but other than that i liked it, props!

Glad you liked it, and thanks for the feedback, I genuinely value honest comments. The slow screen transition is actually due to the way the character graphics are rendered, rather than a gameplay design choice (I reused code from a previous game that had no scrolling).

This is fucking great. You made this in Javascript?! It feels exactly like those early 80's computer games I used to play. The stat screen knowledge for the enemies is pure modern though. This feels like a good game from a different time and place and I'd wager, barring big code, that it could have been. Impressive work at copping a good style in javascript!

Developer

Thank you so much! Yes, I throw a few modern touches in here and there. As for how many 48k ZX Spectrums it would take to hold the code file, best not to think about it! :-)
