Game description
Do you dare enter? "404Tress" is a game even the most experience of gamers could never get past. You are destined to lose as soon as you start the game. How does one beat this game? Simple cheat codes. Find them, and use them to reach the end of the 404Tress.

Theme interpretation
We wanted to make secrets the player would find on their own. We think its best to not mention any of the secrets to let those who explore be rewarded. Cheat codes are the main mechanic of this game and it is the only real way to handle the difficulty finding them thats the secret part.

Wildcards used (optional)

Small Palette

Limit your colors to 4

Cheat Mode

Let players break the rules with things like infinite lives or invincibility

Wow. I was impressed. The game idea is awesome. I really liked typing commands like in old dungeon crawlers. My review is 10 out of 10:)

This is a fantastic game that I could spend far too much time playing! :-) Love the old school green CRT style graphics, engaging audio and thoughtful text content. The mini-games are also very innovative. My only very minor complaint is mentioned by Roaming Maelstrom below, i.e. losing focus of the text box. As a wishlist item it would be great to have shortcuts for directions, e.g. type just "left" or even "l" instead of "move left". Great work!

I am a sucker for a good text game with old school graphics, and this blew me away. I was invested through the whole thing, and the hidden cheats made me laugh! The minigames for some of the actions were very clever, overall one of my favorite games in the jam so far!

Cool take on the old-school Text Adventure games. Good use of the 4-colour limitation, I still found it easy to see what the command options were for each situtation despite the colour limtations. Nice boot up sequence too.

For improvements, I would suggest auto-focusing on the Text Box after every action. You can do this in code by invoking a method like this:

using TMPro;
[SerializeField] TMP_InputField inputFieldName;
public void FocusInputField() => inputFieldName.Select();

Similar code if using legacy Input Field too.

Nice job!

The art, soundtrack, interpretation of the theme, all of them were on point. Loved playing the game, the text based nature of the game was quite unique and fun. Loved the integration of cheat codes into the game as well

The art and soundtrack was lovely. Only thing that felt out of place was the Game Over screen.

Interesting take on the text-based-adventure genre.
Small things made it a bit tedious to play such as needing to reclick into the text box to type out your next action. I also struggled with reading the text while a typing minigame popped up, it would be nice to be able to either confirm the start of the minigame or have a bit more of a delay.

Overall a fun experience.

An awesome twist on text-based adventures. Great atmosphere and fun combat!

Really fantastic atmosphere in this game, achieved through minimal but evocative visuals. The combat system is interesting as well!
