I suppose I misunderstood Truck-Kun's motives. They were the true hero of an anime story. Really fun game and got a big laugh out of me!

Developer

Ah, but what anime protag is ever truly understood? hahaha Thank you for playing! ♥

This is a hilarious concept for a game; one complimented greatly by fun gameplay, vibrant visuals and  good sounds.

It is a shame about the lag, I really would have wanted to play longer! Even still, I think this is a really fun entry and it'll be on I won't soon forget :)

Submitted

A little Carmageddon felling with your entry! Had a little lag in the end, but that didn't took off any of the fun :-)

Haha, I love the references. I'm suprised I haven't seen more anime-esque games in this game jam. You definitely stand out amongst the crowd here. Keep up the good stuff!

Played and rated, congrats for your first game jam!

I isekai'd 10 heroes before being overwhelmed by the aura of lag-san. A solution for this would be to disable the objects that get created over time when you get far enough, otherwise performance tanks!

I had a good time playing and the voice acting was cute. I encourage you to keep improving! :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

I have just black screen, cant play the game :(

This definitely gave me a good chuckle. Interesting concept and I loved how clean the sounds seemed (though a thump when 'sending' heroes might have added some depth?)  and thought the music selection was very fitting.

Best idea of the jam I've seen so far. Already sent it my weeb pals.

Developer

Aww, that's so sweet! Thank you so much and I'm glad you had fun MURDERING  isekaing people with your friends ♥

A fun game. Truck-kun, ranked #1 in isekai-delivery.

What I liked:

  • Voice acting and simple controls

Cool things to add:

  • Sometimes the hero would spawn in front of an obstacle which would make it a bit unfair to get. It would be nice to be able to control my speed or maybe even drift into the other lane.
  • A satisfying thump if I run into a mob characters.

Great job. Liked the mechanic of the game. Funny dialogue.

Congrats on completing the jam! I love the meme so I loved the game. I noticed the lag you mentioned but it seems like you already have some good ideas on how you could tackle it! Good luck on the next one!

Absolutely hilarious, I'm linking this to all my weeb friends. I love the sound design :D

Neat game, object pooling will help with the lag. See https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/introduction-to-object-pooling

I like the morbidly humorous nature of this game  (* ^ ω ^). Good work!

Hello fellow professional isekai truck driver! I too wanted to make a 3d version of this but had alot of issues. https://twitter.com/ThisIsNapmi/status/1528343111675805696?s=20&t=W3Fir3pyalpa4L... What i like

  1. Good voice over. Exactly what i would like to imagine
  2. The level design was simple, but it was just right
  3. Isekai genre? oh yeah

What would be great?

  • Abilities where truck-kun flies above obstacles
  • A satisfying effect where truck kun smashes into the characters

Overall 11/10 from me. despite the bugs

your game was played on stream! https://youtu.be/fhJrR04cnEk

Ohhh! That's so awesome we had the same idea and even downloaded the same asset haha! I had no idea what to do with that giant city because I'm new LOL. That's why I went with repeating roads

I'm glad the anime voice is appreciated by someone of culture. Maybe eventually I'll add in some flying over hills and MURDER isekai effects

Thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback so I can learn! ♥

I really love the the humor in this great job! Definitely have a look at pooling or other optimization options the fps does tank hard quite quickly!

Funny story concept.

Encountered bug that i was able to leave track and go wherever after 20 miles game kinda starts lagging at least for me.
Is generated terrain never destroyed ?

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks, it was funny to make!
Thank you for the feedback! Oh goodness. I'll have to figure out how to keep the truck on the road better. And you're right, it's never destroyed and I think that's probably part of the reason it's lagging. If I have time I'll try to learn how to despawn it and optimize it better. I think someone mentioned pooling which I need to learn too.

Submitted

it's not a Carmageddon

Pretty fun take on the isekai trope.

The game was doing fun at the start but after about a minute it started lagging badly. (playing on web)

Also, did you record the voice lines? They sounded real nice!

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you had fun! And yes, I did record the voice lines, very rapidly in an untreated room so I'm glad they turned out decent haha
And thank you for the feedback. I'll have to learn how to optimize things so it doesn't lag!
