Got round to playing your game at last. Short but sweet :) Got a lot of cool mechanics in, just I guess you were strapped for time to get more level content in.
I really liked it. UI was excellent, really slick. And of course the googly eyes. Ideas for improvement:
I wasn't a fan of the intro, but the gameplay was fun.
I'm glad you liked the gameplay - I'm honestly surprised so many people did like the intro, I threw it together in about an hour so I could shoehorn the theme in 👀
This is really impressive! I imagine the navigation and combat and AI must have taken some time to program and get working properly. The combat reminds me somewhat of Worms.
I love the intro, and the humorous writing in it. Looking forward to seeing more of that! I was intrigued, and curious to see more exposition and follow-up conversations. :)
Very nice entry, well done!
was left wanting more, really enjoyed this, a solid submission in all aspects (save maybe my audio didn't play, not sure if that was the game or me). There was attention to things that make a game feel complete that really stood out in this jam. I will be peeking at your source to learn a thing or two.
no audio in there, I ran out of time commenting my source and adding things like a readme.md 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the kind words!
yeah you did an awesome job with it, and as an amateur thank you for making the choice to focus on docs in that case, very cool of you to pay your gamedev knowledge forward.
Look the aiming, AI targeting :). Really nice set up, and great humour to :).
UI looks awesome with the different weapons to choose, all very slick.
Great job
I had so much fun playing that I almost feel bad for writing some criticism. At some point I fell in a pit and I just kept infinitely falling and had to restart. Another time I went through the terrain collider after shooting and moved inside of it until the game killed me.
It was a nice touch to have used PlayerPrefs to have the game instantly start on replay. I thought the intro was a tad bit long but it was definitely funny.
Everything else is great. The mechanics were awesome and the game feels dynamic, albeit some enemies have short range and is very easy to kill them. The UI is really polished and the game just feels great to play even without music and SFX.
I enjoyed it a lot!
Don't worry about criticism, I can take it lol - yeah I'm aware of those issues. There's a minor bug with the kill volume being a little bit too small, in such a way that affects almost everyone that falls into the pit -.- and there's a major bug with the character controller that means sometimes you clip through the terrain - turns out writing good, robust character controllers that work on curved terrain is really difficult!
I didn't use PlayerPrefs, I just write to a file - I don't like PlayerPrefs, they write to the registry and that feels like a bad idea 😂 the end result is the same, yeah - the intro is too long so I made sure you only have to watch it once.
My biggest complaint is the lack of enemy variety tbh, there are so many good ways to fix the "run and spam" easy kill option xD thanks for the feedback!
I kept saying this in Discord and I'll say it again. The UI looks amazing! Good job on the submission 😎
Gave me a good chuckle. Shame there was no sounds and it was so short. Visually stunning. I do love a game that can look so polished with such simple shapes and the UI was fantastic. Very slick.
I did struggle with the green cube because I was using the boomstick which didn't activate it. After reading the comments I went back and tried again and was able to get to the end and then was disappointed that it was over so soon!
Laughed out loud several times. Just going through the intro in the game proper was fun. The game mechanics were entertaining as well. Question: If the camera moves an enemy out of frame does the enemy still take damage from the shot? I was trying a shoot and run technique and I'm thinking they don't. At any rate, great submission.
Thank you, I'm glad it made you laugh!
I don't see why they wouldn't get hit when they are out of frame 🤔 which weapon did you try with? The basic one doesn't have any splash damage, so it could well just have been that you weren't quite hitting it!
Honestly the best technique is to drive straight at the enemies and spam fire 😂 the post jam update should hopefully fix that somewhat 😵💫
Wow, this was hilarious! I loved the "no.. not that key" sequence. Had me in stitches. I *really* hope you continue working on this and add sound effects. Keep up the phenomenal work!
Good game! Funny tank, and dialog with the author! I found that it is still possible to make jump if space is pressed but it barely visible.:) Looking forward to the full release!
Hats off for the UI ! Like the game and looking forward to a full release , the eyes of the tank look very cute and would have liked if the level was bigger and you hade more weapons cuz the level is just very small. Also something i would recommend is procedural generation probably!
I like it.
Neat little game you have here or let's say the start of a great game! The movement of the enemies in response to the player is great, the projectile arcs are very cool and the thing I love the most ist that projectiles interact with each other! Hope you find a way to make it so that standing close to enemies and spamming attack is not the best strategy! °^^
thanks for the feedback! Yes, standing close to enemies and spamming is a problem, I think there are a few ways to fix it:
I like all these ideas! To make it even better leave some of the enemy behaviour you have at the moment in so that people can find the "exploit" and then when they keep trying to use it you confront them with an enemy that totally outplays them! I bet that would be a great moment :D
ahahaha yep that's a great idea, I love that 😁
damn it looks really good and it's a pretty fun idea
NIce short game. It was really funny :) GJ
Awesome game. Lots of fun.
Best story so far. Didn’t expect that. Even more so the UI, which looks amazing.
Very sleek aesthetics and the controls felt good - I also appreciate all the help and advice you offered everyone in discord over the past two weeks :)
Game is nice! I love all the text animation and UI effort!
However, at least for me, the jump is broken for some reason. I can't jump at all, the tank makes a slight movement and then sticks to the ground. So, unfortunately, I can't go too far into the game now :)
Also, maybe the pause should stop player movement or interaction?
Nice job! Waiting for the fix to play again
there is no jump - you don't have to jump to complete the game. I maybe left the jetpack in even though it never really worked as intended, but you don't need it to progress. Shoot the green block.
Yes I got it, and finished the game! The gameplay is really fun! Hope you support this a little more, add new weapons, and build a larger level! The game deserves that!
Nice job!
