Great game!  The graphics look nice, and the physics felt good to control.  I think there was a little bit of a max velocity slowing down a couple of the bigger jumps that seemed like they should have gone a touch faster.

Developer

thanks for checking it out :) i noticed that too, I haven’t actually set any speed limits, my theory at this stage is it has something to do with the wheel joint being set to “Use Motor” permanently or it’s something to do with the friction I set for the tyres physic material or maybe I just need to smooth out the sprite shapes to clean up the floor colliders. I’m not necessarily sure if it’s a feature or a bug lol because I think landing the jumps smoothly doesn’t cause it (or at least not as badly) I don’t think.

Hi, congrats on your game! :) Great game, it reminded me of the classic Flash games from the 2000s. The only addition I would make to the game would be to display the distance covered during the game in the HUD, not just at the end. And maybe add a scoring system that increases by performing maneuvers.

If you have some spare time, please try out my game. It's a classic space shooter from the 80s but with a personal touch. Please leave your honest feedback. :)

I’ll be sure to check it out. A friend of mine suggested adding scoring to the game screen but I was afraid having text on the screen might break some of the immersion so I might add it as a toggle using tab or something for people that want to be able to see it, I was thinking of adding some sort of score multiplier every time you complete a backflip or front flip and track air time but I haven’t decided on the best method to record it (possibly a raycast to the ground or a distance check) if you die before the end it will show you how far you made it as well.

Man this unlocked some old memories! that was a blast to play! I used to spend hours playing Bike Race on my ipod touch another similar style game to Elasto Mania. Really like the night ride vibes, only thing that would have made me enjoy it more would have been some engine sounds from the bike

It was definitely a pretty game. I found the that the Keyboard commands were not working in the browser for me. I was able to play with the controller however. I thought that it work nicely once I started playing with the controller.

The visuals definitely had a serene sense to them, I glow of the moon & the bike light were wonderful. Was definitely quite challenging at first. Thanks for creating this :)

ah man the music is chill but i'm no good at these games. been trying to reach the ending, but i gotta rage quit for now. Nice game!

Submitted(+1)

Ah yeah, I remember Free Rider! This game is gorgeous. Very nice work!

This game remind me of old classic bike game. Really enjoyed it. You got very nice visual and the message also really motivating. Great job!

Nostalgia in the feels

This is a lot of fun, with great atmosphere and aesthetics - I love the way it looks and sounds. It would be cool to have a few motorcycle sound effects in there. I've played these kinds of games before on mobile and I love them, even though I'm not very good at them. I only managed to get about 150meters in after numerous tries lol. This is one I will be coming back to to see if I can squeeze out a few more meters. Great work.

Great Game!! a bit nostalgic.

good job

Ay I did it! Somehow the combination of gory motorcycle accidents and midnight calming aesthetics works really well lol. Eventually I got into like a "flow" state and beat it first try after that. Really cool, and the controls work very nicely

Developer

I’m glad you enjoyed it and after I finished making it I was so happy with what I ended up with because normally games like these can be really brutal but I couldn’t get too frustrated because it relaxed me, I actually played my own game a lot between reviews when I needed to reset my brain haha.

I was sucking terribly at this at first. The aesthetics and smooth input response pushed me forwards though! And I'm glad they did. Just going (mostly) all out on the throttle instead of being overly cautious totally changed things. The level design flows super nicely when being more aggressive, really, really enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it :) and yeah I didn’t anticipate the different play styles people would have, I tried to design it where most jumps would allow at least one backflip. If I was smarter I’d really love to somehow make the levels fit the rythm of the songs and give speed boosts and things based on landing on certain notes but that’s waaaaay too complicated for me

Pretty neat and nice game. I really liked it :D.

Very nice art and very unexpected ending!
The hardest jump for me was at 314 because if I went full on I always clipped only the back tire and "died" so I had to know that that was coming - also it was a little strage for me that both W and A/D effect the bikes rotation - when I felt a little out of control I tried to correct by letting go of W but then I was really out of control^^ so yeah hold down W always just not for a sec before the jump on 314

Developer

Glad you were able to make it to the end, the Wheel affects the rotation based on how it spins, this is similar to how it works in real life but the main difference is a normal bike will have a free spinning wheel when the motor isnt engaged whereas with the motor on the wheel joints it slows to a stop when you dont accelerate. I did try disabling the motor when the W key is released but it caused a few other problems so its something ill find a solution for in the new game. Thanks for checking it out :)

Got to the in five tries it was nice experience. The controls and ambience was especially nice.  Sometimes i did wish it had a engine sound for the bike but i was torn apart would it mess up this serene game or add to it :D

Developer(+1)

yeah thats how i felt too though because its an electric bike it was really hard to find a noise that didnt sound awful so im probably going to buy a professional SFX to put in the full version. - heres a link to the bike i modelled it on. SurRon Light Bee L1E Road Electric Dirt Bike – Ampd Brothers Electric (ampdbros.com.au)

Love how the game looks. The gameplay is nice. The music is very chill, I like it. Needed to cool my head after 300 m.

Nice chill, rage-inducing game. Great job on the game.

This an amazing game I like the art style of the game and the music and I am curious about the art style are they 2.5d types of art? the game is addictive and fun to play. I have downloaded the game I want to be playing it when I am bored. Good work :D.

Developer(+1)

the art is all 2D I was originally going to try make a 2.5D version but trying to model the bike frame in blender was too difficult for me. I even tried exporting the SVG from designer to Blender and extruding it but I just couldn’t get it to look good so I stuck with 2D (this was actually my first proper 2D game) the bike and the rider are made of smaller vector art pinned together with hinge, spring and wheel joints. Let me know if you want me to build an exe package I’m not sure how to run the webGL version with itch performing its magic. Note that the downloaded version is an older version I think which is quite a bit harder. Thanks for checking it out and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+1)

I have downloaded both packages, after the jam vote you can upload the build I can love to play the game and the art looks outstanding I really like it.

and the player when the bike falls or didn't land well the player is falling independently from the bike, how did you achieve that I am curious.

Developer

joints have a breakforce in unity as part of the physics, I was going to use this but it was difficult setting a correct value that wouldnt cause my arms to fall off mid game so basically i just have a collider on the riders head, when it makes contact with anything the joints that connect the rider to the break are deleted.

Submitted(+1)

Ooh, that's a great solution as well, that effect reminds me of a hill climb game, I love that type of game that's why I really want to play this one maybe after the jam you can work on this game it has some potential and if you decide to do so please let me know I can love to watch some devlog and learn from you in some ways. and one more question, is the character attached to the bike as a child game object of the bike or it's independent of the joints are connecting them, Have never played with joints that much?

Developer

The Bike and the rider are independant from eachother. I dont know if ill do a devlog as I go but i am thinking about maybe making a small youtube tutorial on how I put the bike and rider together. Im still very much learning game development.

Submitted(+1)

Oooh, I can love to see that because I don't think there is something related to that online, there is a chance it can trend and I can love to watch that and if at all you decide to make a video about it you should consider letting me know and I understand your point, learning and teaching is quiet hard I tried that once I couldn't be consistency posting the contents but big YouTubers do recommend that even if you are learning because it will boost you and you will learn a lot along the way and not only learning you will also build your audience for your upcoming games, for me I want to try again once I have a mic maybe this time I will do it :)

Submitted(+1)

This game reminds me of Trials HD. My only feedback is that this needs SFX and that rotation seemed a little slow, but that's minor. This was so much fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing, im glad you enjoyed it, Definitely gonna be fixing the rotation. im still unsure about sound effects as I dont want to take away the "ghostly" feel to the game but i think maybe some terrain sounds would be good. Thanks again

Just throw in some chains and some reverb and then you should be fine!  😝
