I had a similar thought for this jam - glad you ran with it as it looks better than what I would have pulled together :)  I like the puzzles and the size adjustment mechanic is really clever.

I feel like I was able to brute force the solutions every time instead of really thinking through the solutions - get one bot to the triggers then to the exit and then get the other bot to the exit.  Might consider adding buttons that have to be pressed by both bots simultaneously.

I was also confused by what looked like yellow portals on some of the walls.  Is this just lighting reflection?  I thought it was a portal or something that I needed to activate.

Lastly, thanks for including the github link!  I poked around a bit and found Fast Script Reload in there.  Does this work as advertised?

Hi  @Orange-Rhino , thank you for trying out our game. We are glad you liked it.

Yes, the yellow lights are just for lighting (although you gave me an interesting idea... thank you for that. Maybe if we decide to continue working on this project in the future we could implement Portals for the Robots to go across Walls according to specific rules - conditions...).

Regarding Fast Script Reload, yes it is a free tool that allows you to write code (in your preferrer IDE - Rider, Visual Studio, VSCode, etc...) while you have 'PlayMode'  already enabled in the Unity Editor... and you can see the changes in your game instantly. For me particularly worked like a charm, it improved my productivity. As I am a fan of that tool, I recommend you to test it out. The author has a nice Discord account an attends people's suggestions in there.

Have a nice day!

I love that you combined both controlling 2 characters and the scaling mechanic. I understand time was limited and it's really not easy to do, but I would've liked to see better puzzle design. It has a lot of potential!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea! The puzzles are a little too straightforward though, there is really no interaction between the left and right maze, you just need to look at one of the sides, and then at the other independently. But I understand making levels is though!

Nice done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! The intension was that you had to reach the goal with the two characters at the same time but we didn't manage that in time, I think that would have made it a little harder.

Really amazing work with both idea, concept and execution. Love these kind of games, especially when so well done as this one! Awesome!

Cool game I loved it :D

Cool idea with the theme of controlling multiple characters and to solve a puzzle with this mechanic.

Great job on implementing! Was fun to play for a lil bit.

As feedback - I got locked on the level sometimes:

1. If you HOLD W as soon as you load into a level, you will walk on top of the level and cannot interact anymore with the switches and portals.

2. On level2 the blue robot can leave the level early. Which means if the door is still locked for the red robot, you cannot finish the level.

I don't think there is a restart button right?

Also in the beginning it was not clear to me that the portal was at the very end of the level on the blue squares. There is no extra visual for the portal, so that was confusing for me at first.

Awesome job on creating and finishing a game!

Thank You for the kind feedback!

(1) this is a Bug indeed... it is going to be fixed. Thank you for pointing that out.

In regards to you second suggestion (2), it was purposely intended that way, to make the player notice and "think"  further how to solve the puzzle of getting out with the 2 Robots together (the time is ticking out anyway, so if only one robot finishes the game, the player is going to lose as a consecuence when the 'time is out')...  Nevertheless, maybe that could be perceived as too much of a "punishment" for making  the mistake of not opening the door (and crossing the Goal) in the right order... Maybe in a future version of the game we could just cut the action 2 seconds later after that happens (and show the "Lose  ->  Play (Try) Again" Menu again).

Due to time constraints, it was indeed very difficult to playtest the game as much as we wished to (and there's also good "final Art" we wanted to add, but we had to focus on the design of the levels first and on - the "basics" -, the gameplay).

I hope you had so much fun with game, as we had while making it.

No worries about the minor issues.

I indeed also have learned that you have to prioritize features and don't have the time to do it all and bring them to the desired final vision.

Good luck and have fun on your game dev journey!

Amazing feedback! Are you a professional tester?

Submitted(+2)

Thank you David for the kind words! I'm not a professional tester, but have played quite some games and work as a backend developer. So, you learn as you go ;)

Fun Game. The two character mechanic was great. Good job

Well done on your game, pal! I've rated it. Would you mind checking out my game and leaving a rating? Let's exchange feedback!

It was fun playing playing two characters at the same time. A bit too challenging for me, but still a good game. :)

Well done!

cool level design

Great! Fun submission with an excellent take on "Life in 2 Dimensions". The music and sound effects fitted the game nicely too!

Looks great, I would have like the option to zoom in/out on  the characters. On the edge of screen they become less visible

I beat it! Very cool implementation of the theme. I appreciated that to start the game you have to learn how to control the characters first. Controlling the characters themselves took awhile to get used to, but I think I got the hang of it (mostly). The music was poppy and cheerful and the SFX were a good queue to what to do next (finishing a level was particularly satisfying).

Something I was unsure of was why at least one of the buttons didn't work, it made a "clunk" sound. Is it just a red herring button or was I doing something wrong (I was able to use the other button in the level to open the door, so I'm guessing it was just a red herring).

I never really understood the purpose of the rats (I think?). When I first encountered them I just stayed big to keep them from hurting me, but later I found out they don't even hurt me when I'm small, and they didn't really prevent me from moving in my desired direction either. I'm kinda thinking it was something where you discovered being chased while controlling two characters was just too difficult to wrap your mind around, but I dunno, I'm curious!

Anyway, very cool, very good use of the theme, and it was satisfying as heck to beat the game. Good job!

This was a bug which is fixed now. Play again, the Drones can slow you down and trap you now!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! The levels were good designed and i liked the color palette, too.

Very nice!

Submitted(+1)

Fun mechanics and an original idea! Good level design as well.

Submitted(+1)

Dang this has the best mechanics of the games I've played so far! Just curious, was there a downside to just not being scaled up the whole time?

Developer(+2)

Thanks for your kind words! In level two there is a hole in the wall that you must scale down to get inside, but you don't need it to complete the levels yet.

Clever theme implementation. The background music is great also.

Submitted(+1)

The idea of the double character is amazing and it perfectly fits the theme
