Game looks mega cute! And it was a lot of fun playing it!
I'm glad you had fun!
Thanks for playing!!
I didn't realize how much time passed until i finished the game, awesome!
I'm glad you had a great time. Thanks for playing!
This is the kind of game that makes me disconnect from reality. Well done.
Happy to provide the daily dose of escapism.
Thanks for playing!
Well that was just adorable! Feels nice to blow things up ^^
Indeed. Cute creatures blowing stuff up should be a genre by now.
Thanks for playing!
That was fun, even though I do not like cats so much! You know, I reached the final boss to realize that the shooting was automatic, lol.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)
Thank you for playing!
This is fun overall. It fits the theme well and the upgrades are neat. My only issue is that the autofire feels like it takes a way a degree of player agency - I miss being able to use weapons strategically and timely. But maybe that's just personal preference!
I tried holding a button to fire, but my thumb would get sore, there's almost no breathing room nor a reason not to fire. Then I tried a burst fire system, that only required tapping casually. The problem was when you picked up a box, you'd likely continue pressing the button, and accidentally select the default option. The original scope idea was a lot closer to Vampire Survivors in the amount of weapons and items, but that was cut.
Thanks for playing!
Ah that makes sense! I can see the vampire survivors DNA for sure.
Cool graphics, good job on hitting #1
Thanks!!
I really love the character progression! I think it's well balanced and the concept is super unique!
Glad to see you had fun!
Thanks for playing!!
An standard entry. everything is good enough. nothing too bad and nothing so great.
i just wish there was more challenging. or it could've been an endless game which got more and more difficult. it'd give it some replay value.
Overall, good job!
The thought of making it endless crossed my mind, but I preferred to give it a bit of closure before the few content I was able to deliver started to overstay its welcome.
Thanks for playing!
What feels right in this game:
1. SFX feels satisfying
2. Game is more or less original
3. Player control seems fine
4. Game is upscaled correctly so you don't have to look at a minuscule window while playing in full screen
What feels off about this game:
1. The balancing, oh dear God the balancing, just pick a spreader, level it up all the way and sit back and relax
2. The game seems to be aimed to the bullet hell theme with limited constantly changing space, however this game is most definitely the easiest bullet hell with sometimes functional colliders
What I don't like about this game:
The cat animations seem a bit lacking, and pixel art seems as if the game was rushed in 48 hour period with sleep and eating brakes including
My overall opinion:
For a Jam Game it's a great game, feels more like an Atari than a GameBoy, but the gameplay is good, Soundtrack and SFX is about as good as you could expect from a single person project, while the concept is not original Idea most definitely is, for that I must say it is a solid game that I wouldn't mind loosing to.
I'm taking notes for a post-jam update, and the spreader is going to be the first thing to get reworked.
Thank you for the honest feedback!
Amazing entry. Orginal graphics and fun gameplay. It feels like gameboy game. Love the artstyle! I has that gameboy soul!
This art style is definitely something new to me, but I'm happy with the result.
Thank you so much for playing!
Very cute and fun! I mainly upgraded first gun, last level was hard!
Oof! That sure was a challenge.
The original plan was to get weapons randomly, and have weapon combinations that complimented each other. But I had to scrap most of those ideas and focus on a fun scoring system to make it in time.
Thanks for playing!!
Love the art! I used the spread gun, but didn't try out the other weapons too much. Sometimes when the bullets were fired, it felt like there wasn't any 'space' to doge them. The ending was funny.
Enemy bullets are a bit deceptive, they use raycasts for collisions so their huge size doesn't matter. But the player's hitbox is also huge, that evens it out. As usual, the brilliance in timeless storytelling was a product of the tight deadline. :-)
Thanks for playing!!
Super fun! The art is banging and it really feels like a gameboy game. Spread shot is busted haha.
I went to bed after pulling an all nighter with the feeling I was forgetting something. Nerfing spread was on my list, along with many other balance related issues. That's one of those tricky weapons that's very easy to overdo.
Thank you for playing!!
Oh my gosh so cute! Really love the art for this one and especially the +1 that really telegraphed earning points very well. Great job!
Thanks!
My original plan for this year was a very complex puzzle game, with different phases and a pretentious theme that required a lot of content. When I finally found time to work on it, I wasn't having fun. Then my daughter came into my office with a drawing she made of a Siren Cat (whatever that is) and asked if I could make a game about it.
This might not be the most revolutionary entry in the jam, nor the most polished, but I had a lot of fun in the process.
Nice arcade/gameboyish feel of the game. Probably needs some more variation on background and regarding enemies. I think spread shot is overpowered ;)
Thanks!
I'd really like to expand on this concept a bit more in the future, and add more levels and actual enemies. And balance.
Thanks again for playing!
Very good aesthetics, amazing polish overall. However the gameplay is pretty lackluster. Weapon choices don't mean much, and there's little to no difficulty at all. Very quickly I was able to simply take my hands off the keyboard and the game basically played itself, I only had to move a tiny bit whenever guns would appear.
I realized pretty late into the process that leveling up certain weapons results in being too OP. I did change the scoring system to incentivize players to chase after the stars, but not everyone cares about score. I'll definitely do a balance pass post-jam.
Thank you for playing!!
