Looks fantastic, especially the environments. I enjoyed navigating the mazes, and appreciated that there is some flexibility in the order you tackle the exploration.

The music is also good, though it begins to feel a bit much after a while.

The ontrols felt a little sluggish for a game that required dodging enemies. Also, having to be in just the right spot to walk through a door annoyed me a few times.

One of the bests of the jam! Looking for more :)
EDIT: Any chance of a downloadable version?

Developer(+1)

Sure! I can prepare a build and upload it once the rating period is over.

Ah got pestered by the can't land on the sun thing too. think it happened when i went over the suns coordinates when i tried to go through the door on the right. it will lock out controls for firing but not dashing.

neat zelda-esk rogue and souls like. if i had any qualms it would be the doors.

Apologies for you having to deal with that issue. It happens when the spaceship didn’t fully stop before the transition to the stage. I’m fixing it along another couple of issues once the rating period is over.

Thanks for your feedback!

That was fun! It's a solid Zeldalike with cute art and well-implemented mechanics.

I personally liked the slightly inertial movement, especially after obtaining the roll. It was especially helpful during that room with the two pits and the two saws.

The audio is a bit imbalanced; the music is a bit louder than the sound effects.

I don't know how this happened, but on my first run, in the room with the katana, I accidentally summoned the fidget spinner and skipped the secret station completely.

Great work!

I really liked the art it felt so authentic! This would be a hit on gameboy! Nice job :)

I just played your game. Big fan of Zelda but also a big fan of Binding of Isaac, so I really liked this game. There are some things I would have changed, for example, the velocity of the player (although it was nice to have the power-up that allows the player to do the "link" movement and move fast). Also, it's really hard! (something that my game has, too). But I guess that's where the GB soul comes from.

Nice entry! Hopefully, you play mine, I'd like to hear about your feedback!

Great game! I love Zelda & this game does it justice. Challenging gameplay, ability unlocks, great music & excellent GB style sprites.

This is a great game. Really cool art and very well designed levels. I found the movement a bit slippery (not sure if that was just meant to be low gravity though). But all around this is a really great game

Good little dungeon crawler! Combat is simple but satisfying and the dungeons are well designed for the time available for the Jam. Good work!

Top 10 in the jam for sure.

Cool game. I could see myself playing a lot more of this. I'm tempted to agree with the comments, I think some snappier movement might help. Great job with the pixel art too!

Love this! I could see myself playing a full length version!

I see below from other commenters that the inertia on the player character is divisive. I also didn't really care for it.

Very evocative of the game boy Legend of Zeldas, super nostalgic to play. Lots of "gameboy soul" here for sure, other than the font used for text. Changing that to something more pixel gameboy-ish would help a lot to make it more cohesive, as it is it kind of sticks out because the rest of it does such a good job being authentic.

I think I found a bug. I went from the "secret station" to the bottom center planet and shortly after landing had this text at the bottom of the screen and couldn't get rid of it.

Thanks for such a detailed review. Apologies for that silly bug 🙈

All good! My game has bugs I didn't have time to iron out as well :)

The character inertia felt very weird at first, but I kinda got used to it.

Level design was great, places are distinct enough to navigate without needing a map (a map screen would be great though). Good work!

All elements of the gameplay and feel are very solid. The character inertia has pros and cons, but I like it personally!

I ended up playing it twice, because whatever weapon you pick up replaces your old one, so I thought I was softlocked when I couldn't defeat that one enemy in the top world you need the gun for... Turned out it was just hiding a bigger gun and I'd somehow missed the roll powerup entirely.

It's a really good game! Good graphics and music, with a nice variety of power-ups and weapons and little sprite details. The player was a bit too floaty for my taste, causing me to bump into doorframes and such, but otherwise it seemed to play well.

However, I found a possibly game-breaking bug where if you go through a door that was previously locked, it unlocks the door again and you lose a key. I was so worried the final artifact would be behind a locked door because I died on the buzzsaw room and lost my only key going back. (Thankfully, that wasn't the case.)

So overall, great job!

Thanks for reporting that issue. Definitely something that can break the game experience and has to be fixed. I’m glad you had a good time playing it, the issue didn’t spoil the fun.

Really loved the vibes this gave off, cute art and design!

I always enjoy zelda vibes! This one mostly reminds me of Anodyne!

It's a solid game! Good job!

Really fun!! I enjoyed playing it and the 'learning experiences' made me laugh. Only problem was the sun dialog. I loved the roll powerup. (:
