What a creative interpretation of the theme! Great thinking with this one. And it was fun. Great work!
Thank you so much! It was wonderful having you and stream this evening, btw :)
I love the concept! I love the interpretation of the theme! It was really fun once I got the hang of the controls! I love the art and the animation quality was very nice! Some of the doggy faces reminded me a lot of Scooby and that was also really nice! Great job all around!
The concept was original, and the art and music are quite good ^^ !
However, the level design/gameplay is a bit strange (probably due to the time limit ^^).
In the very first level, I'm attacked 3 seconds in, without having the time to read the controls. An "empty" level as tutorial would have been great =).
Then, I don't understand the "Stay" mechanic, is it used anywhere ? That could have been a good element is the level design used that, like buttons that needed to be held down ^^.
The "dig" was not obvious, I had to re-read the tutorial to understand.
Overall, the concept is nice, but I feel like you were short of time for the level design ^^. It's okay, that's the challenge of a 48h game jam, but I'm curious what you could have done with a bit more time =)
Originally this was supposed to be a puzzle game, so having a dog sit and stay on a button or avoid spikes would have been quintessential to the overall level design. But then we ran into some snags during development and had to abandon almost all of that. The Stay! mechanic is a vestige of that older design that we decided to keep for posterity. Thank you for such salient game design critiques!
nice game and good concept.
Thank you very much!
Good concept and fun game , some feedback I would provide is make the mechanics more intuitive/obvious. (dig)
Thank you very much for playing our game! Your feedback is definitely fair and we'll be retooling the game design post-jam to address the intuitiveness and engagement of the mechanics.
Fun idea. I'd be interested to see what you could do with this given more time. Love the mechanic of splitting Cerberus into 3 individual dogs with their own skills.
It was a pleasure having you on stream the other day!
With all this supportive feedback that we've been receiving, I think we'll retool this concept and let the game really shine :)
Awesome! Give me a shout if you do end up taking this further so I can give it another play. :)
Really nice idea and I like the presentation. The concept is really cool to like how you can split apart and all come back together. I will say maybe a little more of a tutorial would be nice, the beginning text was really small and I got killed right away (though I liked the game over pic!!) Also, I finished the game but I don't think I ever actually became big cerberus other than to go through the end gate? I mainly just spit fireballs and dug. Otherwise though very nicely done and great idea!!
I'm elated to see that so many people liked the concept of our game, and I can say for certain that we'll be retooling the game design post-jam so the mechanics are more engaging and intuitive :)
It was a really interesting concept. Good job ^^
Thank you very much for taking the time to play our game!
Incredibly unique and fun idea! I really adore the artwork and designs as well!
I think my only gripe would be that an more proper tutorial could help one understand how the controls work a bit easier :0
I'm happy to hear that you liked the game's concept! Me thinks we'll be retooling the game design a wee bit post-jam so the mechanics and tutorial are clearer
awesome idea and art! good job!
Thank you so much! After having played your game our artists will certainly appreciate such kind words from an artiste like yourself :)
hehe, thanks - but you know, i am not an 'artist', i do it only in spare time:)
I like art. Not sure if I understood the game itself though. I finished all the levels just by splitting the dogs to have access to the fire bullets, moving them as if they were one dog, and then just shooting everything that moves. Never understood how to use their special abilities (besides the fire) and why I even need them.
In the original concept you could only weaken the enemies as the little dogs, and then you'd finish them off as Cerberus who couldn't damage enemies without them being weakened. Needless to say, we didn't make it that far in development, so you're super right in that there's no real reason to rejoin other than to get to the next level. Thank you for playing our game!
The name, the art / aesthetic and the theme are awesome.
<3 Thank you! <3
Loved the idea! The art is cute, the levels are nice and the concept wa enjoyeable. The only thing I would've changed are the instructions, since I died a few times before understanding and reading them. Nevertheless, great job!
Thank you very much for taking the time to check out our game!
The game concept and execution is very unique! The levels were a bit easy but I think it's at a right level for a game jam game. I just wish that the instructions were displayed before entering the first level because I didn't have enough time to figure out how to play before I got attacked.
I'm glad that you liked the concept! I think the team will be retooling the concept post-jam so the mechanics are more clear and the levels more engaging :)
I really, really enjoy this concept. Having Cerberus split into three separate dogs (more dogs the merrier!) made for some very interesting gameplay, but at times the combination of WASD navigation and IJKL stay/power commands got a little confusing and overwhelming, particularly when multiple enemies approach. The sprites are gorgeous, Cerberus and enemies alike, but given how detailed they are it feels like the backgrounds paled in comparison. Honestly with a little polish this would make a game I'd play for hours!
Thank you for such kind words!
Nice game ! I really love the artworks X)
Thank you so much! Our artists will be elated to see this sentiment <3
I really like the concept, but I think the execution could use some work. The controls were a bit confusing and hard to figure out (didn't understand when I was supposed to use "STAY!"), but it's an original idea regarding the theme. Overall, I like it, just needs polish :)
Originally this was supposed to be a grid-based puzzle game, if you can believe that! So the Stay! was kind of a vestige of that old concept. Thank you very much for your kind words :)
cute designing. liked it. It's got potential, and I'm curious where it could go with a little more time. ~ Check out my entry when you get time :D
Thanks you got it!
Kudos on creating most of the assets during the jam!
The idea of a battler where you have different powers in a combined state vs. in a solo state is super interesting. It brings something like Power Rangers or Transformers to mind. The way this one plays has that spirit, but doesn't really have any mechanics to support it, though. All the battling happens as individuals (you literally can't attack in joined-up form), so joining up is only useful to stand on the final checkpoint. Similarly, I love the "STAY!" mechanic.... but there was never any reason for me to use it.
It's got potential, and I'm curious where it could go with a little more time.
Thank you for your feedback! Making so many playable characters turned out to be a much more ambitious goal than we thought. It's encouraging to hear that you see potential.
cute design but hard to control ?
Yes, cute design and hard to control. There are some hefty design challenges to make a game like this work, and one of the biggest ones is how the heck do you control three players at once!
