Really well made polished game. I love sound, music, graphics. Great job. :)
Thank you friend!!
You had the same idea as one of mine at the start of the jam. Although the mecanics you've come up with are very different to what I was planning. I always find it interesting that different people come up with such different interpretations of the same ideas, even when the idea is pretty specific (in this case "Golf, but you play as the hole").
I love the way the game develops over time. You get the idea, then homing balls, then the giant balls... No idea if it goes any farther than that, I only lasted just over a minute on my best attempt.
I also love the humour and personality the voice-over gives the game. Touches like that make such a difference to how a game feels, it can cover up a lot of sins!
How is this any different mechanically to a bullet-hell dodge-em-up? I get that thematically it's a reversal of roles, but when you're playing, what is the unique perspective?
Exploit: Tap space constantly to move faster! Seems the boost isn't limited by a cooldown or anything.
Bug: Restarting doesn't fully reset the state. I still had homing balls and the large ones flying around at the start of a new game.
Graphics seem a bit inconsistent. You have high-res balls and shadows. Mid res hole. And super-low-res golfers as if they're from an Atari 2600 game at the sides!
Overall, I enjoyed my time with this game rather a lot! Well done.
Hey thank you so much for all the feedback! I love we had similar original ideas... You're totally right on some of your improvement ideas from mechanics to graphics, definitely areas we could improve. Thank you for the advice!
It's great how a simple idea can be useful for developing such a fun game. I love how you introduce both controls and mechanics in an introduction. The best part is the narrator, absolutely hilarious! Congrats!
Thanks Isabel!!
Very fun game, I really like the voice acting it reminds me of the old 3D worms games voicelines. I'm not sure how many other golf ball types spawn later so I apologize if its in there but I think it would be cool to have a golf ball that's attracted to the player so it curves around them like it has a gravity force around it. How did you go about the pseudo 3d effect with drop shadows and height in general?, I've been thinking about remaking an old 2d golf game I've made and I don't think my old implementation was the best.
Thanks for the feedback! It was a script done my co-developer, David Schmitt! I'll have to ask him or have him reply here!
Thanks for the feedback, Tom! The red golf balls do curve toward the player like a gravity effect, but we could add another ball type with a much stronger gravity force toward the player.
For the shadow effect, it took me a while to find it, but on YouTube people seem to call the effect "Fake height". My implementation is heavily based on this video by GucioDevs:
I added a small vertical offset to the shadow so you could still see it when the ball is on the ground, and I changed the horizontal and vertical launch speeds to be based on the player's distance from the golfer instead of random ranges.
Thanks for playing our game, and good luck with your work on the golf game! ⛳
Thanks for clarifying and his video looks super useful!
Very fun and addictive. The voice acting and human sound effects are genius - super well done.
Thank you TingGame!!
Love the fast paced gameplay! This is the kind of game where high level players look really cool! (like bullet hells or most rythm games)
Heck yeah!! Thank you Norrland!
Cool game! I've seen other reversed golf entries, but I like how this one actually turns it into some kind of bullet hell game. Also enjoyed the voice acting.
Thank you Thomas Bringer!!
This was so great! The concept, narrative, voice lines, mechanics, everything! Well done!
:D aw thank you friend!
Absolutely loved that "whosh" sound xDDD
Damn. Such polish! Even subtitles and voice acting? I wasn't expecting this from a jam game 🤣
Execution 10/10. Great job! 👏
Thank you AZAR!!
Pretty fun! I love the idea of adding different golf balls! Nice job!
Thanks Javi-Dev!!!
Laughed a lot to the worms-like voice! Even if it was a bit easy to play (2:30 on my first run) it was quite fun!
You are a pro gamer!! Thanks :D
Nice game!
I don't really have any complaints, honestly, this game does everything it needs to do right!
Good job!
Wow! Great compliment, thank you!
Great game, hilarious voice acting, well made. Thanks for creating this game!
:D Thank you!!
The voice acting is really the best part of it, the it blends in with the tutorial of the game was something that strikes me as really genius.
Fundamentally it's a bullet hell game, but the way it's twisted to fit the theme was amazing, I didn't expect to be playing reverse golf. Still, the game feels fair but challenging! Two things about the mechanics I liked - the shadows of the balls about to land helps me predict where to avoid, and the fact that the balls destroy each other lets me try to divert the red balls to crash into each other.
Love your feedback, thank you so much! Bullet hell games can be super fun, can't they ;)
Love the commentary, and great take on the theme!
Thank you bobbyem!!
Loved the music and art and the gameplay was really fun, and the sound effects and voice acting was hilarious. One thing I would change though is to implement a cooldown on the dash ability since you can spam abuse it.
Appreciate that feedback and idea!! Thanks!
I enjoyed it! my best time was 1:54. I really liked the concept and the music and the voiceovers just blended in naturally with the game! Well Done!
Nice time!! Appreciate your feedback :D
this is really cool! its very polished, the music and art re really good. I love the voiceovers but I find they blend together at times. great job!
Good feedback!! Thank you!
Nice sounds and voiceovers. The game is very fun to play with golf balls all around the screen!
Thanks TheSorrowRaven!!
I absolutely love that method of turning the tutorial into the golf hole talking to themself. Amazing job.
Hahaha thank you!! Appreciate that
