Cool idea with great execution. I had some problems with the pink obstacle but overall experience was great. Scaling enviroment around player is awesome. Good jobs

Love the slime and found you by your collection, thanks for doing this! All hail the slime lords! haha

I like that you can leave behind slime bubbles and get them back. Some music or ambiance sound would have made it a "fuller" experience.

The sponge thing is a very good idea, mixed with the slime-gathering mechanic! :)

The game mechanics are truly heartfelt and well-designed. To enhance the experience further, improving the coordination and beauty of the artwork would make it even better. Cheers to Slime!

You have a realy cool game about a slime :)

Good sense of scale, nice touch with how you leave the microscope after the tutorial level.

Love the way that the character feels like it's getting bigger in comparison to everything around it! I struggled a bit with the size of the pink squares of death, but that might just be because I'm not a great platformer lol

I really enjoyed the game and its innovative mechanics, like sponges absorbing impact and objects breaking as you grow. However, the pink obstacle proved quite difficult. Implementing adjustable jump height by holding the jump key could make this challenge more manageable

This game does an absolutely fantastic job at selling the idea that you're getting bigger compared to your environment.  The sponges absorbing some of the slam and objects breaking when you're too heavy is awesome!

That said I had an embarrassingly difficult time clearing this pink obstacle.  I had to do it many times and barely got better at it.  I think it's a little too big for the jump.  I think if holding the jump key made you jump a little higher instead of the jump height being fixed it's totally solve the issue.  I also was surprised one tiny pink obstacle could totally wreck you when you were huge.

I really enjoyed this one, awesome job!

You're absolutely right! Had we had some more time on this, I believe this mechanic could have used an extra polish. There was a hotfix to make the pink obstacle a little more avoidable, but it didn't make it to the build that was submit. We appreciate the feedback!

we also did a slime game, but took it in a different direction. really cool to see how this idea can be stretched. great work!

Fun. I really like the sponge mechanic idea in this. They are very interesting obstacles when you want to stay big.

Developer(+1)

thanks! we did a little more with it in the 2 inaccessible levels that we’ll release after the jam

Submitted

yeah i agree. in our game, the "mush" can drop and collect its own goo to change size while "scaling" a mountain. the idea of sponging up goo makes for some interesting size based puzzles, especially from a design perspective.

I enjoyed the slime. Nice tutorial stage, lines up perfectly with the gameplay and I knew exactly what to do after! The slime could be a little faster, but all in all the mechanics are creative and work with the environment well

Player is just too slow!

Very creative level design, However the game lacks a lot of polish and game feel. The slime feels so sluggish, When I play a platformer, i want to move fast. The pixel size of almost everything is different, which you really do not want to do. Maybe if this was a two week jam, you might have  evolved this into a great game. I see the potential since the actual design of the second level is pretty fun and the mechanics are also expandable, good job!

Developer

we weren’t able to get 100% of art done by the deadline, sadly

CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE THE 100TH 2024 GMTK SLIME GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Yeeey That's so good news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Submitted

oh hey guys. i see you're throwing a slime party.

You should've spent more time on polishing base mechanics. The character movement feels clumsy which makes levels to be frustrating. It's lacking almost any sound and visual cues.

Developer

we ran out of time to create visual cues with.

Submitted

That was interesting. The mechanic of dropping excess slime is intriguing and engaging!

The music at the beginning is a smidgen loud compared to everything else. Some of the sound effects, especially breaking stuff, are also a bit loud.

All-in-all, good work!

Developer(+1)

you had music? i was under the impression the music and intro were completely bugged.

Submitted

Only once, during the intro crawl (the black screen with "It's a nice day... And You are a horrible all consuming slime").

Developer(+1)

again, i was under the impression the intro didn’t play, good to know.

Submitted

Really great concept, can expand to make a really interesting puzzles

Submitted

The SFX makes my ears happy

Developer

there was supposed to be music too, but because the game starts on the wrong scene, it’s bugged.

Submitted

I like the mechanics of this game!! having the world shrink as you grow is a fun way to express the character size changing.

Developer

it’s not actually the world shrinking, the camera just zooms out.
