That game is hard, but not in an unfair way! You always feel like you'll "get it next time!".

Once you understand the red borders are timers, the rest comes naturally.

I love the infinite zoom-out effect you made, it's weird at first, but it really makes you feel that you are the both the map and the character.

It makes me think a lot of Geometry Wars, in a good way.

Excellent job! =D

Loved the idea of you being the skill tree and also being able to see the map without having to open it unless you need to see the details... This was fun!  Well done!

Hard to grasp at first but I got the hang of it.

I see I wasn't the only one to think of RPG skill mechanics xD This was a very cool and unique interpretation of the theme! The meta-ness of you being your own map is pretty amazing.

Neat game! Loved the visuals!

Wow! The atmosphere was completely on point for this, truly impressive. Game is beautiful, the zoom out to the tree blew my mind and it's fun to play too, very good!

What I'd add is it's hard to see the bullets coming from enemies (especially with all the pretty stuff floatin around), so sometimes it looked like I died out of nowhere.

Fair point! Some of the feedback could for sure be tuned both visually and in terms of sound. Thank you, though!

I'm blown away by this entry. The skill tree being the map is so cool.  One of, if not, my favorite entries so far. I hope you do more with this game in the future. The gameplay > skilltree/map > gameplay infinite loop was also a really nice touch.  Way to go. Thanks for letting us play this game.

Really enjoyed this idea! Those the minimap being the skill tree idea, thought it worked really well. Would love to see it further developed

super cool game, opening and closing the map for the first time blew me away, love the music and visuals. great work!

This game gets really fun as you get going, and i love the risk of rain-esq difficulty scaling.

Wow that music slaps, combined with the eclectic visual of the loading circles/powerups. Visually it's great! It lacked a bit of visual feedback to understand how good/bad I was doing. I'm still not sure if the green balls are good or bad! Nonetheless, very good job there! :D

Great presentation and effects in the video game; I felt like I was on a very innovative and different space adventure.

Wow, this is impressive! I hit tab so many time just because it was fun to see! I feel like if you made a game with multiple worlds/levels, you would just zoom out from this world and you'd be a world iniside another world for level 2. lol  Anyhow, this was a really fun challenge. Once I figured it out, I tried for a high score. Well done overall!

Developer

That's a great idea! Like level 2 is inside one of those tiny specks of floating startdust and you just zoom in there.

Whoa, this game is great. Honestly, I'm giving you 5 stars in all categories. I played it several times (never made it to 5 minutes!) I love the concept of going to different areas to gain new skills and upgrades - is that your original idea or are there other games like that?

First time I zoomed out to the skill tree and then zoomed out again to see myself on the skill tree and also saw the skill tree inside myself... 🤯

I think this could be made into a proper game with more depth that people would enjoy. 👍

I don't know if the "stay on a zone to unlock a skill" is an original mechanic. The idea fell so natural to us, it probably isn't.

We just love skill trees so much, we often talked about how we'd like games like Diablo and Path of Exile to _only_ be about the skill tree, and forget about all that boring story stuff. That's what we wanted to explore here, a game where the only thing is the skill tree.

Thank you for the rating and the kind words!

I came back for more.

Very trippy game, but very cool! Love how the skill tree is the map AND is at your center, thats handled brilliantly.

At my first few attempts i felt like the rings werent doing anything, it took me a few tries to finally understand how their feedback worked. Maybe you could add a sound cue if something works? Or maybe you could make it a bit more interactive, where smaller circles spawn inside the powerup rings that you gotta stand on for a few seconds. The game is also a tiny bit loud, but thats all I can really say.

Great game! I can see you working on this for longer, and with a little bit of polish it will turn out brilliantly

also i beat your score EHHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE

We absolutely agree! We planned some sound feedback as you unlock the skill zones, but time ran out.

Oh, no! We have to improve our score, now!

That was cool! trippy.
