Very cool game, but I feel there are just a few minor problems. Namely, the camera makes it difficult to see climbing points which makes recovering from falls more difficult, you can slide on walls by pressing in on them, and more often than not I'd find the oven getting rotated at an angle that I could not control, which doesn't matter for permanent grapple points but means you just slide out of temporary ones and have no way to recover. I'd say make the camera go down when you're going down, up when you're going up, etc. or just zoom it out/change the aspect ratio.

Aside from that, very neat game, love the aesthetic, absolutely worth a shot.

Thanks for the detailed feedback - this is exactly what I need, really appreciate it! I've just gone back and made a few tweaks to the camera so that it's position is offset based upon the player's velocity and it feels SO much better - thank you! I'll push an update post jam with this and hopefully with the other bugs you found fixed too :)

Cheers for playing!

Gorgeous little game with a pretty neat premise! The art direction for a game made in such a short amount of time is super coherent and the level design is pretty tight with some neat signposting to find secrets. The controls feel a little bit awkward but I imagine that's kind of the point when looking at the games in the inspiration list. If I had to offer some feedback, I wish that arms not connected to a node felt a little more responsive and that it was a little bit more obvious what the space bar was actually doing when I played the game. I was able to swing around using WASD pretty easily but even though space bar's purpose was described in the controls section I couldn't really figure out exactly what it was doing.

Developer

Thanks so much! Glad you picked up on the signposting for the secrets, I really enjoyed placing them and trying to make sure I got some variety there.

Great points on the controls, thanks - they're definitely supposed to feel a little uncomfortable and challenging, but there's a few things that will absolutely need tweaking post jam and this is really helpful - thank you!

Took me a bit to get a hang of the controls, but definitely pretty fun once I did. I ended up basically just using both of my arms as one to fling myself up the mountain rather than alternating handholds one at a time. presentation was also solid, even though it took me until the 3rd level to realize that my tab was muted and the game actually did have sound.

I'm really intruiged by your technique, I'm going to have to give it a try! Thank you for playing :)

Really good game! Gameboy style visuals are awesome and the sprite work is great! Game is really hard and i suck at videogames so I couldn't finish it... But awesome game anyway! Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much! It's a challenging game for sure, thanks for trying :)
