How does your game fit the theme?
The main mechanic of the game is that the playable character is a dragon which scales up as you progress through the game. We doubled down on the theme by using the other meaning of the word “scale” - the scaling up in length of the dragon is brought about by collecting a dragon scale. As your dragon increases in scale, the game difficulty scales up too. Accompanying the gameplay is a charming narrative which adds an element of the scale of time that the immortal dragon has endured.

Not my type of game to be honest, but I can't argue it is pretty well crafted. Doing voiceover for a jam is not something you see often and it must be praised!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for giving our game a try! We're so glad you enjoyed the voiceover :))

I really liked the style of the game (glowing pixel art). The gameplay and puzzles were also very solid. 🐲🥚

Thank you for playing our game all the way through! You're too kind!

Very nice take on a classic game,  combining a sokoban-esque style with some of the spirit of a snake game, and I love it! The art is very pretty and solving the puzzles made me feel smart :] Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you for playing our game and for your very lovely comment! So glad you enjoyed the puzzles :))

At first I was thinking: "this is too simple", but after the game went on, it became a true challenge and I got myself thinking about solutions, very enjoyable, interesting story <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game and sharing your very kind comment! So glad you appreciate the scaling up of the difficulty level :))

This game has so much charm for a Sokoban game. However, I think there was like, one puzzle where I had a moment to pause and no other moments that really made me have to sit and think. I like the idea of a Snake Sokoban a lot though, it's so cool.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game and sharing your feedback! Hope you meant the thinky pause was in a good way, and maybe in the larger  release version of the game we can make more of these 'moments'.

(+1)

Yeah, I definitely mean that good kind of thinky pause where you have to step back and look at what's going on till you're like "OH MY GOD I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT". I look forward to seeing where it goes from here if there's more being worked on!

Developer(+1)

This is so great to hear, thanks a lot :))

If there is only one puzzle game featured and our works are both there. I will say hey Dragon Scale is better.

I really like the V.O. and music, though sounding like some American Chinese thing lol

Developer

Oh boy, what a thing to say! You're too kind, thank you for your generosity.
Well spotted too - we were inspired by a lot of different dragon lore, and Chinese was a significant part of it. Hope we did not inadvertently appropriate (:

Submitted(+1)

of course not. it just makes it fun. I really like the idea and puzzles

Very fun! The graphics are stellar (teehee) and the levels are well designed. Great use of level design to enhance the story as well, mainly near the end. Thank you guys for your game!

Developer

Wow! My favourite game of the jam so far, a precision 2d puzzler is rare and a fun one even rarer!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing our game - coming from someone who knows their 2D puzzles, this means a lot. You've a solid entry too!

This is a really great jam submission!  Full marks from me.  If this is Dragon Scales I wonder what kind of puzzles Dragon Egg would be!  Puzzle games are hard to do from a jam, but this one stood apart with the story, great voice acting and fun music!  I really felt for the dragon.  The last level was satisfying too.

One piece of criticism I have is I found the these blocks circled in blue really tough,  this one in particular.  I was really enjoying my time while playing and I was moving in a set rhythm and it took me a long time to realize this block was a real time element.  I thought it progressed one stage with each block you move through, not based on time.  I think I would make them smoothly animated like the projectiles are so it's clear they are real time, and maybe make them take just a little longer to do a full cycle.

Excellent job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing all the way through to the end and for taking the time to detail your feedback! That's a really good idea, definitely going on our to-do list!

I really liked what you guys did at the end.  The game mechanics were pretty smooth and there was a lot of polish. Nice job with the voice acting.

I could've never thought of making a childhood snake game into a super-featured dragon game

Surely, the concept and creativity were at its best

Be sure to check mine :)

rare to see a game with voice acting in a jam. I thought it was Jonas when I first heard your voice lol.

Very nice puzzles and a good engaging story!!! Good job

Developer

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed the game and the narration..

Haha, zadly no, I am not Jonas.. Love him though, voice over from him would be special!
