How does your game fit the theme?
The game idea was an unit management game with scaling difficulty. The hunger of the "Gooper" (Game Timer) scales while eating. While progressing the difficulty scales because you have more units to manage and less time to satisfy the Gooper.

I honestly liked the game but was disappointed with the theme implementation, still a solid game and great job though.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the gameplay.

Yeah, i had a pretty hard time with the theme and didn't have too many ideas.

Submitted

It's really cute, but the controls were a bit clunky.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Do you have any idea how to make the controls "cleaner"?

Submitted

I think it should use just a single mouse button, I was always mixing up the buttons.

Submitted

Controls were a bit weird, but it looks cute!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the art style.

Submitted

Super cute and fun concept! I think the fun starts to decrease a bit when I have to click faster and more often. I feel like some quality of life updates could improve this game, like maybe some different controls or automated guys.

Developer

Automated guys sounds like a chill experience. Thanks for you feedback!

Submitted

Gameplay is not very interesting, the concept IS but the mechanics emplemented not well.

Developer

Can you tell me which implementation was the worst?

Submitted

I believe the controls are the worst part, you need to pick only one unit  out of dozen. It would be better if you could select a few of them at the same time.

Developer

I first implemented selection and commanding of multiple units with box select, but it made the game way to easy. But i will reconsider my control choices. Thanks for your feedback!

Cool pixel art. Good work!

Pretty cool Jubba the hutt feeding game!

Developer

I really looked at pictures of Jubba the hutt while drawing the pixel art for the Gooper :D

Thx for playing!

Submitted

Interesting idea! It's challenging to thread the balance between feeding the big slug guy and breaking down the fence.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Hope you enjoyed the challenge :)

Submitted

I think having one button be selecting and assigning a task would have been better, but I like the concept and management game. After 3 little guys it gets a bit slower, so maybe add another mechanic to keep it interesting. Good job.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!

At first i've tried a classic RPG Box Selection of multible units, but that made the game way to easy. So i scrapped the idea and changed to single selection with one click.

Submitted

That makes a lot of sense, balancing is difficult. In such a short time you did amazingly though!

Submitted

Played and rated! Phew, I was sweating with so much clicking; you need the APM of a professional Broodwar player in 2024 to keep up with this, lol. Just kidding, it was not that bad; it was fun; good work!

Developer

We all know: more APM = more fun :D

Thank you for playing and rating :)

I failed when I got Toni lol - i enjoy micro management games and this was definetely that, good job I enjoyed it and it has great potential :)

Developer

Haha :D To avoid this while testing the ending I had a poison block right next to the spawn. Almost forgot to remove it for the final build.

Thanks for playing!

I like the art style. Once I had 4 guys, it felt like a chore to keep them all on task. And that third gate had way too much HP. 😅I also like the general theme, mining the rocks to feed to the big guy to release the prisoners, I like the idea.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

The last gate has so much HP so people keep using the main mechanic of feeding and don't just brute force. After you reach the 800 satisfaction on the hunger bar, you'll get a special unit "Toni", who deals 100x damage to finish the game.

Submitted

Ohhh. I did get Toni, but didn't realize what he was for. I just assumed it always said the names and that I had missed the names of the previous ones. 😂

Developer

Haha, i tried to make it clear with the messages the normal units would say near the last gate "MORE" "FOOD" "NEED" "TONI", but my message system and communication of gameplay ideas needs some more work :D

Cool stuff! Very good aesthetic both with the music and the art being quality, well done! I think it would make a lot of sense just to have one mouse button do both the selecting and the movement, it would definitely make managing a bunch of little guys more feasible, as a whole, really great work, it's always a big achievement and really satisfying when you completely make EVERYTHING for a jam game and it makes the game feel very whole and together and you hit the nail on the head with that part, Well done :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your kind words!

I'm normally a programmer and not really familiar with creating art or music, but feedback like yours really inspires me to keep trying. :)

really unintuitive selecting and unselecting, was more of a hassle than it should be. and scaling difficulty was a bit of a boring take on the theme but cool style!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

I first implemented box selection and commanding of multiple units, but it made the game way too easy and boring.

Wanted to implement tab selection, but sadly ran out of time.

Submitted

Very neat idea! Cool art and controls. The progression requirements could have been lowered a bit to make the game a bit easier.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

I wasn't sure if the game would get too boring if its too easy, but i will test it :)

Submitted

Normally in a jam you want your game to be  easier rather than harder since people will be playing for a short amount of time. This way they remain satisfied.

Developer(+1)

That's a great tip for my next jams. This was only my second game jam, so i'm still kinda new to it.

Submitted

Let me free my people from the hungry slime!!! Nice and cute artwork. I think the progression could have been a bit faster.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm really happy that so many people like the art :)

Submitted

Fun and chill experience! I could only handle about four worker dudes at a time.

Developer

After 4 workers the chill ends and the stress beginns :D

Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Took a while to move my first unit! But then i realized! destroyed the fence, but nothing really happened, such a pity trowing the rocks on the fence had not a different cursor. Overall nice game!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and for not giving up after the problems with figuring out how the gameplay works!

Did you see, that you can move the camera with middle mouse and continue after the first fence?

Submitted

Love the art and the gameplay loop is really satisfying. After around 4 it gets a  bit overwhelming and a tiny bit dull, but as a short little game it's fantastic!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback :)

I'm glad that you liked the gameplay loop. I had some ideas to spice it up with more units, but had to cut them out because of the limited time frame.

Submitted

Your art style is amazing and I really like the mechanic of feeding the gooper to unlock more workers. It does get a bit overwhelming managing like more than 4 tho but I really enjoyed your game and the mechanic. You did really good for the time that was given.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback :)

Most times game art is my biggest headache when trying game dev, but luckily the limited time forced me to make a decision for the art style and i'm pretty happy.
