Pretty fun and well implemented stacking mechanic, I like the numbers which help you understand what level each stack is on. I do think some strategies can make it quite easy, for example you can just sort of spam pieces all over the place and you don't lose, so maybe as a post-jam update you could mitigate these strategies. Overall though, a fun entry :)
Thank you for the feedback ! It definitly need more playtest and tweak the difficulty curve ! I will look for it and try to upgrade it after the jam !
Glad that you had fun :)
I had a lot of fun with this game ! Never though of doing a tower defense like this, it work very well nice job!
Thank you for playing my game ! Glad that you had fun with it :)
Carefully building the first minutes... then absolute chaos!! ;) Nice twist on the tower defense genre, thank you, this was great fun! :)
Thank you ! Glad you had a great fun playing the game ! :D
Really fun game! I played until 7:30, but it was really fun for those 7.5 minutes! Great work for 96 hours!
Thank you, I am happy that you still managed to have fun !
Great game. I like this type of variation of tower defence.
Thank you !
Great game concept I really enjoyed playing :D the music was catchy and dropping in the towers and defending the king was highly addictive. The game for me felt very easy, at no point did I feel like I was in danger of losing which is great for relaxation but undesirable if you were aiming to make it a challenge, either way I had fun :) Amazing work using your own engine, I can't even comprehend the complexity of that :) Great job!
Thank you ! Glad that you enjoy it ! Make the difficulty curve for a game jam seems soooo hard ... Half of the people said that it was too easy and half of the other don't get past the 7-8min power creep xD It would really help to have varying difficulties for the challenges !
At least I am glad that you had fun ! Cheers :)
First of all, insane and awesome that you made a custom engine for this. The concept of vertically scaling in a tower defense is really interesting. Enjoyed playing this!
Thank you ! Glad that you enjoyed it :)
Good game and quite addictive ! I love the idea ! It's just a little bit frustrating to barely see at what level each element is at a glance.
Thanks ! It is one of the main weakness of the game ! I will try to polish it :)
It's an amazing idea for the Tetris gameplay and also fits the theme well, love it!!!
Thank you ! Glad you loved it :)
I really like the blocky style. A song would go a long way on the difficulty ramping though (I saw on your credits that you had music, but I had just the shooting sounds when I played).
The tutorial was a bit confusing regarding the "shop auto refresh", I assumed the shop was the lower part of the screen. Alsom, "Everything cost 2G" could be on the same line, to be clearer.
The firerate and the range blocks are a bit complicated for some color blind people to differ, just a heads up.
I really wish I could rotate blocks.
There could be a very rare "1 tile" block, that could be an easy mode haha.
I didn't understand exactly what counts as a tower, each tile is considered a tower? So a 4-sized block creates 4 towers?
Overall really cool tetris/tower defense mash. I managed to last 4 minutes only.
Thank you for your deep review ! Yes there is a background music but on some browser it may not play I didn't know I only tested the webbuild on chrome ( and some already told me about some issues on Firefox ).
I think that I will overhaul the entire premise of the tutorial to better showcase the tower stacking mechanics and yes the shop is the thing in the lower part of the screen !
I plan to release a color blind mode or at least some symbols to better showcase the differents types of tower !
The non rotation of the block is what makes it more challenging ;) ( Not that I didn't have the time to implement it, no no no... XD)
Yes each tile is a tower so a 4 block tile put 4 towers at once ! The damage ramp up comes from actually stacking them not how easy there are to put !
Hope you still managed to have a great time ! Thank you for taking the time to play the game and put a long review !
The Tetris placement is satisfying. Though by the end a good strategy was just mashing them on the outside near the enemies. Had a bit of an issue with the WebGL window scaling though.
Glad that you found it satisfying ! Yes the game was not made to be rescalable as I didn't had time to polish all the camera work at the end :/ And someone told me of a similar issue on Firefox ! Will patch it in next releases !
Hope that you still had fun ! :)
Very cool idea! I haven't seen anything like it before. It was real fun and I made it up to over 9 minutes. So close... Congrats!
So close ! Thank you for taking the time to play the game :)
Glad that you had fun !
Such a cool and creative idea. Respect and bonus points for custom engine. Congrats!
Thank you !
This was amazing! It was very fun with a unique concept, and it's super impressive that you made it in your own custom engine!
Thank you for taking the time to play the game ! Glad that you find it fun :)
Hi! Awesome job! The game is really fun! :)
Thank you ! Glad that you find it fun :)
Great idea and music!
Thank you !
Well made and engaging game. It's very interesting to explore different possible strategies. And the 10-minute win threshold is well chosen, I just barely managed to win. The challenge makes it fun.
Thank you for taking the time to play the game ! I didn' t want the game to feel to stretch and made the difficulty curve enough to not be able to survive too much longer after the 12 !
Well played for the win !
Wow, someone also made a custom engine! That's so cool! Can you maybe share what you used for the engine, like the programming language or the libraries? I would love to hear that
Thank you ! Yes i working on some devlog about the engine rn, I will post it once it's done ! But for now i am using C++ with SDL2 for the inputs and Emscripten for the webbuild ! Except for that everything else is mainly homemade, ranging from the UI, the Renderer to the Physics !
Cool concept!
At first I didn't get that you could stack blocks to build the towers and try to fill the field...But then it got easier :) I didn't pay really much attention to the type of blocks and just tried to create the highest possible towers. In the end, when it got pretty intense, I just placed the blocks everywhere to slow down the enemies, though I am not sure it worked, but I still managed to win :D
I would probably prefer to have shorter rounds but faster pace — I think it is pretty chill in the beginning for a long time. But it was fun!
Thank you ! That was one of the intended way of win ! :) I may need to make the round last only 7min or change the difficulty curve with some added miniboss in between ! I will test different things and see what feel the best !
Glad that you had fun ! And wp for the win !
Great concept! had alot of fun trying different strategies. really cool that you made your own engine. could use some balancing to be a bit more challenging. i ended up just stacking all the blocks by type and not even thinking about the enemies.
Thank you for taking the time to play the game ! I was thinking to add some terrain hazard or enemies with long rang attacks to destoy some random tiles on the map so this strat was not viable :)
Still glad that you had a lot of fun !
