Very enjoyable! There are many 'scale' elements that I can play with throughout the game ranging from horizontal and vertical length, speed, even time!
This one I liked a lot! The game felt very polished and thought out. I'm surprised how many levels you managed to produce. And also the clever use of the mechanics and nice controls. It felt a bit metroidvania-like with new mechanics being introduced over time creating the way for the new stuff. Great job!
Also, the dragon is adorable and I love him.
This is cool! A pretty solid game.
I also appreciated small details you worked on like very subtle camera shake so that we know the dragon is actually big and heavy, and coyote time which made the jumping less scary. Nice job!
Cool concept, good art style, had fun.
Awesome game!! I loved the different controls for making the boxes bigger it felt really thought out and there was so much to play! Great job :)
I thought I was a dog, but I was dragon, roar
That's a cute game! Nice art, polished, good idea, good gameplay, pacing. Well done!
Cute game! I like all the art, but I was surprised that the spikes don't actually hurt you.
Do you mean the cave spikes? Yea, they are looking pretty scary, but are just shiny decoration. :) Lemme look into that tho how i can make them look less dangerous.
The idea is really well found with clever mechanic following it, I take a nice time to play it :) !
Dragon?! Dragon!!
Hehe. I wish the dragon I drew for our game looked half as good as yours.
Haha thank you! I worked 1 entire day just for the walking animation because quadruped locomotion is complicated af to replicate. :')
This is by far the best game I've played in this Jam. The art style, the gameplay its all fantastic. Great job
Very cute! I liked it! Cute pixel art and music!
Fantastic game - well done guys! An incredible amount of content for a game jam. Great pun on the scales. Here are my thoughts on the details:
Presentation: I loved the music and sound effects, and the art and animations looked really good. One thing to note: the font doesn't really fit in with the game - but I'm really just nit-picking there, the presentation was overall fantastic.
Gameplay: Great level design, I never felt lost or confused. For the mechanics - I think they felt slightly off? The gold standard for platformer dashes is Celeste, and the dash there cancels your velocity, whereas the one here keeps it - maybe something to look at. However, I did like playing a platformer with a larger hero - something about the feeling of momentum (screen shake on landing) and the larger hitbox really scratched an itch for me.
Overall, I loved this game, every time I found a new scale I was excited and eager to use it. The time scale was a brilliant curveball and could be hugely expanded over a longer timeframe (I love the idea of making a tree grow by scaling up time). I think this game would work fantastically as a Hollow Knight-like Metroidvania!
Thank you so much for your detailed and consteuctive feedback! Tbh I am a bit overwhelmed because we got way more positive feedback for this game than I personally expected.
Currently we are making a list of all the bugs, missing features or off - putting gameplay aspects, so we will put out a more refined version of this game! So if you have anything more that you noticed, you can mention it here :).
I had a couple more minor points that I didn't include because they felt too nit-picky, but here they are:
Just to reiterate - brilliant game, all of these things are just small issues with a generally great product.
thank you :D
Great little game, lots of levels, lots of fun mechanics, great art. Really enjoyed it:)
Thank you for the feedback!! Greatly appreciate it. :D
XD)
I thought it was really clever how you used the word "scale" and still also implement ways to scale objects in order to solve problems and I really like the artwork. I would have liked a better control scheme since I like to play my platformers with WASD for moving and Space for jump and maybe use shift for dashing as alternative control scheme.
Thank you for this constructive feedback! Yea, the controls of this game definitely feel a bit "janky" and mostly occurred because we just were not sure which controls are the most comfortable for the mechanics we thought out. So, every "input" on that is greatly appreciated. ;)
5 stars! Loved the gameplay, level design and specially the pixelart <3
Aww thank you sm! I am very glad you overall enjoyed this game this much :D
Good pixel art, controls, an amazing gimmick and I have to be honest: the scales pun got me!
Glad you liked the game (and the scales pun)! :) I dont even know who came up with this from my team, but it kinda carried the whole game idea.
Love the pun on the scales! Very gorgeous pixel art and I also like the mechanics on the platforms.
